  1. Well done, I reckon it is moving at blistering speed (though that is relative to my project which has sat on the sidelines of my life for the past 6 months).
  2. Is that a feel of springs in the throttle, the feel of the cable stretching or the instant acceleration from a well tuned responsive engine? A properly designed dbw system should "Feel" no different to the driver. Problem is most manufacturers have some sort of delay, especially on lifting the throttle. I have had a car where the PO had installed springs of the wrong length. You would get to 3/4 throttle, then you would have to push harder as the springs were getting near their limit. The feel of that mechanical throttle was horrible. Speaking of throttle failures, I have also had an idle screw (the one that cracks the throttle plate open just that little bit) wind itself right into the throttle as the lock nut had come loose. This meant that I was sitting at a red light with the engine pulling 7k while I was burning my hand trying to unwind the screw. So failures are not limited to electronic systems. People just assume mechanical issues are easier to fix as they can see them, but to other people electrical problems are easier to identify.
  3. Finish the Z then sell your half to your dad to fund a really nice E30.
  4. I can think of some good reasons, but they would be more suited to a very large throttle body. You could have non-linear throttle response, you could setup the throttle position to correspond to engine torque, use it as a idle control (though a bypass would probably be easier), use as another point in your immobilizer, set it up as a launch control, etc, etc. Go for it, if nothing else you have given a project a go and learnt something new.
  5. See post number 94 http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/79649-progress-on-my-insane-vq35hr-240z-project/page__view__findpost__p__868584
  6. Well there is definitely too few GOOD engineers. I am having my first real holiday in 5 years (just had a son) and just last week had four phone calls for job positions. I am not worried at all about getting a job when I want to finish my break, so much so that I am putting off looking for work until I want to go back, I.E. I expect to get offers within a week of putting myself back on the market.
  7. Mucielago would look great (might be a bit expensive though)
  8. Check out the centre console section of the dash. 240z is more trapezium like, 280z is more square. 240z dash 280z dash
  9. Looks like it is at ride height (notice the 1x2 under each wheel), and he mentioned that flares are coming this week, so it looks like wheels will be turnable. Does look good how close it is though, shame that isn't practical.
  10. That is a very nice looking radiator Ron, great fit. And it is excellent to see you customising a custom built radiator, HA!
  11. Nice photos, looks like a decent 20 footer. Yeah they are. My mate has an FD Series 8 and it has less cabin space/room for feet then the 260z I have. Also has token rear seats (even a child's legs would be squashed in there), much less room then my 2+2 seats.
  12. A strut should push out (expand/erect) not sag (Enter back into the strut body) with no load on it. If you compress the strut it should slowly come all the way back out (not stop a couple of inches from full extension). So sounds like you need a new shock.
  13. You guys do realise that this is not a wheel that will easily fit most Z cars right? 5 stud for starters, plus he doesn't have our suspension getting in the way as well. Yeah it looks great, but getting it to fit a standard s30 may be a little harder then you think.
  14. Ah, thought that might have been the case. You will not have the same problem that I will face then.
  15. Coming together mate. Quick question. I have been thinking about how I am going to do my radiator setup and was thinking about using AN fittings like you have done. One thing I was worried about is that every setup I have seen looks like if the engine mounts had much give it would stress the line. With your line it looks like you have given it a very slight arch, is that to allow a bit of give in the mounts? Brad
  16. Fair enough, that is a good enough reason.
  17. Looks good, a lot like most of the aluminium dashes others have made. Are you going to use the passenger side for any switches/gauges/mounting? If not, how about just making half a dash? Would be quite a bit cheaper and would fit all the gauges that you are mounting.
  18. I do since the exhaust sounds so beautiful in the tunnels around me and yet the council has decided that it is a good idea to have speed cameras in them. That is just mean. You are so tempted to give a spurt of power to hear the exhaust but yet you really know you shouldn't so you are always looking at your speedo when the cameras come up.
  19. I have a RB26DET project on the go, but it is a long term project (got too many projects on the go, garage, house changes, first son etc, etc). So I haven't bothered posting a topic. Might do it all at once when I get back to working on the car. So far I have mounted the engine and started on the transmission crossmember (didn't like my first design so I am rebuilding it), and yet to start on the diff front mount. Not much work will continue on it till I get my garage up though and can bring my car back to my place.
  20. The runners look really small in diameter, is that just an illusion due to the plenum being massive or the runners being long? Interested to see the outcome.
  21. Shame on me, never even clicked about BRE, new his name was Brock just didn't make the link. Congratulations on the picture being signed by that Peter Brock.
  22. Dyno! I want to see some drag racing or circle work.
  23. Sounds much better then mine, fingers crossed they aren't bent.
  24. ^ I was thinking the same thing, your obviously not talking about the Australian Peter Brock? http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.abc.net.au/reslib/200709/r174392_660714.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.abc.net.au/news/photos/2007/09/06/2025729.htm&h=589&w=840&sz=146&tbnid=6wgcd5_Lvo7XOM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=145&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpeter%2Bbrock&usg=__HSbAf67ENV0JsvHOd92VGgL8MqI=&ei=vGf_S_CfNJDfcbrO6Y4K&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=9&ct=image&ved=0CEMQ9QEwCA
