  1. HA! That is great. Since I am not in America I can not do the same. However I won't tell you how much, because it will be a diluted/denial lie. If you really want to know you would ask me, then my wife's exagerated response of all the time, then pick somewhere in the middle.
  2. I use to have a TF cortina wagon. The brake booster was leaking so I had bought a second hand one from the wreckers and headed over to my mates place to change it over. He wanted something to eat so we went to McDonalds first. Went to put the car into reverse and the whole shifter pulled straight out. The thing was threaded in with a large nylon thread. We had to drive the car home in second gear with the car revving its head off down a 50mph road. Was pretty funny when I looked back at it though.
  3. HA, HA, HA, that's hilarious! Does sound like it works quite well though (I.E. changing the sound to match the revs). Bit of a step up from those recorded Blow Off valve sound CDs that were going around.
  4. Another inch further ahead (looking at the new mount that your talking about buying) looks like a nice spot in relation to the steering wheel.
  5. Yeah that is what I meant. A thickened wall is all that is needed, then the AN weld on bungs could be welded on. Brad
  6. COOL! Think about putting a thicker flange on the passenger side (were talking the right passenger side, I.E. the left side) for people to mount an external oil pickup. That will make the rb26 motor conversions easier. Oil temp mount point sounds cool, I like that.
  7. If you are worried about $35 for getting a "Free" camera up and running, then you have to seriously consider whether cars are a financially viable hobby. I understand it is frustrating having to buy extra gear to make products work, but you stated your camera was "FREE". $35 isn't bad to get a $200 camera running.
  8. Are you going to make an exhaust manifold to bring the turbo further forward?
  9. Holy crap! Nothing like pulling an engine out (or your dash and removeable panel) to do a minor service on your engine. HA. At least with the full tubular frame you can build as many access panels as you want.
  10. Have you had a chance to remove your pulley? Is there any damage from running no harmonic balancer? My previous owner decided that he would not run a harmonic balancer when he rebuilt the engine (actually that is a bit tongue in cheek, maybe he didn't know what he was doing when he welded it). My crank is not nearly as disastrous as the broken crank (well at least I hope it isn't, will know when I pull the crank tomorrow), but the welded balancer definitely was moving at a different frequency to the crank. Oh yeah the key is actually in the keyway in the following picture. This was in a turbo motor not revving much above 6000rpm, I guess not balanced as well as any of these high revving motors in this thread.
  11. It might work for wiring, but not for electrical components because it isn't blue smoke.
  12. http://www.ozgarage.com.au/page/2 Episode 10 - They talk a lot about the benefits/power gains from ethanol, but they don't say too much about the fact that they are using a lot more fuel to make that power (ran out of injector when running E85).
  13. Just a quick update without taking too much away from this thread. Turbo looks like a GT30R turbo from the Garret catalog. Another reason for the low power figures listed in my first post would have definitely had to do with my timing. Not only were my timing figures a lot less then the general consensus, but I also found another problem when I pulled the engine apart yesterday. The previous owner had welded the harmonic balancer together (which has destroyed my crank but that is another issue) and at TDC my engine was reading 5deg. So I was putting another 5deg less into the engine then I thought. So when future people are reading my first post, take that into account.
  14. Your boneville speeds might improve if you use the rockets to power the datsun.
  15. This is one I think should make it (taken from the "Submit a picture for the Hybridz intro page" thread). Two Zs, and both are on the hoists.
  16. Sorry guys, I have cleaned up the thread by removing as much of my crap as I can. Mods, feel free to remove my other posts that are not inline with this thread. Cheers.
  17. Did you really "Laugh out Loud" twice while writing that paragraph, because I didn't think it was very funny at all? Perhaps an internal chuckle but not that funny. My desktop is blank as I very rarely get a chance to look at it. Always have a window open.
  18. Always interesting seeing the manufacturing sequence. That seems like a lot of wasted material. What ever happens to all the shavings? Do you send it to a scrap metal place for beer money?
  19. My hatch is a button. It has the key but that just locks or unlocks the button, it doesn't open the hatch latch. To open the hatch you have to physically push the button in. Can't send you a picture as my car is at my mates.
  20. I love comments like this. Even if you didn't realise it (or you may already know it), you are already contemplating another project in the future. HA!

^ Sorry did not see above post. SORRY. I can't seem to delete posts anymore.
  22. Took a lot of work to get it on the RIGHT side too. HA!
  23. Another clean looking car Richard. Well done.
  24. So why are you doing this again? Is it purely just for the cool factor or because you can?
