Hi, I'm after some more information on valve un-shrouding, I found this nice link with some good info, http://www.gofastnews.com/board/technical-articles/1181-porting-school-6-secrets-reduce-valve-shrouding.html but I'm after more information on the 'L' type heads 1. is it a right angle cut, or a radius cut between the valve seat and the outer part of the head on the un-shrouding, ( yellow line on picture), 2. should the martial that's shown by the red line, be smoothed to the top of the seat ? 3. how much martial should be removed ( but still stay with in the head gasket, blue line ) 4. should I remove the edge where the green line is, and make it a smooth flat surface the pictures is of a E30 head, I'll be wanting to do this on a N47 head (second picture), I don't mind loosing some cc s since it will be put on a turbo engine. thank you for any information Nigel

maybe you were tightening them to tight ?, never broke a front cover bolt, just don't use a 12 inch bar, I like to use my little 10 / 12 mm ring spanner. or if you have one of those little (6 inch) tension wrenches Nigel

Now it wont start, 56k beware, lots of screen shots..

What Coil do you have, the reason I ask, I've seen three different types on this site, and they wire up differently, the first two have a square plug, http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=601305&postcount=28 the third one has a rectangle plug, http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=932222&postcount=164 your hand drawn picture looks like the third type, but if that correct, it's wired wrong. Cygnusx1 and myself are using the Dodge type coil. this is how mine is wired http://noddle.110mb.com/EDIS/slides/edis6ew-800.html Nigel -
Hi, I was doing some 3rd gear pulls, tuning my MS II system, and this is what happened, 7K, 15psi Originally I though it was a manifold gaskets, but once I got it pulled down, I saw the head gasket hanging out the side of the block, But I've had some fun with it, N/A L24, dished piston, N47 head 440cc injector intercooled EDIS, Nigel

I did get a message originally, but when I tried last night it worked fine, I didn't think about capturing the message when it first happened, so I can't show you, If it every happens again, I'll capture it. Nigel

Hi, I had another crack at doing the full throttle TPS calibration, the get value was 821, and this time it excepted the number, and also now my throttle gauge works from 0 to 100%. I'm not sure what happened, but it's working now, so I'm happy.. Nigel

Hi, I have moved from MS II 2.88 to MS II Extra 2.1.0p, with MS II 2.88 I didn't have any problem, but with Extra, it thinks a value of 800 is to large, It think 250 - 255 is the maximum it wants, so if I except that value, the TPS gauge in Megatune will only move 0 to about 7 percents for closed to full I hope I have myself clearer.. Nigel
-
at the top you say you have a " 240sx TB and TPS", I assume you have removed the idle control ? when you take your foot of the throttle, is the throttle body flap open a little ?, if not, where is the air comming from to let it idle . Nigel
-
Hi, If I try to except the 800 ish value (full throttle), it says it's expecting 250 / 255 it's not in front of me at the moment, and If I accept that value, the throttle gauge will only move about 0 to about 7 % from no throttle to full throttle. Nigel
-
Hi, I'm having a issue calibrating my TPS running MS2Extra 2.1.0p at no throttle, the 'Get Current' value is about 120 and at full throttle its about 800 I didn't have any problems when I was running MS II 2.88 code earlier in the day. Nigel
-
Hi, I assume you running MS II extra ?, also have you got AFR input running ? the only thing I saw was O2, but it looked like its not setup (no input) Nigel
-
Hi, Wouldn't you be better to have a sprocket on the 'pulling' side, since you would not want this to 'flex' thus changing the cam timing, see picture Nigel
-
I did this once, the thermostat wasn't sitting in the 'grove' fully, when I tightened it down. Nigel
-
Hi, My fuel rail turned up today, so I will fit my o-ring injectors over the weekend, I'll also install my EGT probe into the spacer plate between the turbo and exhaust manifold. Nigel
-
It's a wide band sensor. Nigel
-
am I correct in thinking that all Turbo 280zx have the H4 oil pump ?, and not just the auto s ? Nigel

I know when I moved my MS from coil trigger (using original distributor) to EDIS, I have to modify my board from 50b to 50a. Point 50a 5 and 50a 6 (of the instructions) asks for the diode to be shorted, what you could do is check to see if C12 is empty, if its installed, thats what 50b requires. 50a does not have C12 installed. You are in the same boat I was in, read the 7th post from TonyD http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=148870 and my solution on the 9th post I hope this may help you Nigel

I don't own a 'Z', but isn't the naming the clue to the engine size 240Z -- L24 260Z -- L26 280Z -- L28 I just re-read the original post N42 Block, isn't that a L28 Block ? Nigel
-
Take it off and get the manifold machined (gasket area) if it's not straight or pitted (rusty) Nigel

I spent a bit of time searching on the net for some pictures of the o-ring type injectors to see what would and would not fit, but there not much out there that showed me the view I needed, (most still had the rubber seals on them, and at the time I didn't know it was rubber, and they were removalable). But in the end I brought some RB26DETT injectors (440cc), here are some pictures for others to see the difference between RB30 and RB26DETT injectors I think I will clamp hoses onto them for now, and maybe later get a Pallnet rail fuel rail, but that will depend on the cost to get it to me. Tony, the next time you go "on the road" you should write up some of this wonderful knowledge you have, so the rest of us save it for later use. Nigel

Looking for advice. MSII l28et, stumbling, back firing...

I'm no expert, but looking at your EGO control, you have Controller Authority set to %100, I would drop this to %10, not 100, (pic 1) and in your VE table at 1K RPM / 30-60 KPA, it has a largish values compared to the cells around it. but I think your EGO maybe the main problem, it kicks in when RPM is above 700, and TPS below %80, so I would assume it kicks in as soon as you touch the throttle Nigel -
T3 Hybrid Turbo -Rattling Internal Wastegate?
Noddle replied to cygnusx1's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Some things to check, the actuator arm hole where it fits over the waste gate arm, is the hole sloppy ?, thus allowing it to 'rattle' with the engine off, and the actuator arm disconnected off the wastgate, can you wiggle the waste to see if it has to much slop in the "bush contact area" Nigel -
I set my web cam up, a little rough though. as you can see in third from about 5k upwards the AFR rises. also this screen dump from megalogviewer not sure how to read the 'Duty Cycle' but it hits 186 Nigel
