  1. Too bad the timing is all wrong for me, otherwise I would seriously be considering it. congrats and good luck.
  2. Go with the Protege. It handles fairly well, is very reliable, much more stable than the Echo.
  3. It's all aluminium shavings, so I don't think a magnet would work too well I backflushed them using the most dangerous how built tool I've ever constructed. It was not a proud moment for me and at one point in time I even told myself "I should just send these out for cleaning, and eat the cost." sigh. They are clean enough for the moment, maybe when I start running E85 through them the remaining slivers of alum will disolve.
  4. Mazda Mx6 seat with a sparco sprint seat. I have the one Mazda Mx6 seat in queue at the local upholsterer, although I'm not sure if I'm going to use them or not. They are not as light as I would like them to be, and they require some serious mods to get them to sit low enough in my 240Z. prepare yourself for lots of cutting and grinding. (please note that I also needed to modify the passenger side extensively because my battery is mounted between the seat rails, so your results may vary.) The Sparco seat is a great budget fixed back seat and has served me (and others when the Z was in paint jail. ) well for the last 7 years of Z ownership but it is time for my z to switch rolls and I'm looking for something more comfortable for longer trips. I'm seriously considering modifying the stock 240Z seats to accept four point harnesses, and adding bolstering to the bottom and sides while they are disassembled.
  5. They were purchased used, just with very few miles on them since new. I'm building a backflushing setup today, I just need to go get some clamps and a few switches. what a pain. In reality though I would not be driving my car even if it was together, it just keeps raining down here.
  6. Paul, Even though the internet based forum is an amazing communication tool, Sarcasm, Direction and inflection are all lost in the translation. My intention was to not come off as aggresive, but doubly sarcastic.
  7. Thats the one! That car is really quick for what it is, they just got back from racing it through Mexico and placed second or third. very impressive. I dig that old SAAB, your friends got alot of guts..
  8. Did you see the yellow E30 BMW? that was my friends car all the way from Austin Texas! http://lemonbimmer.com/
  9. It's not at all uncommon. Sometimes in our projects we go a little too far during the "while I'm at it" phase and our projects snoball uncontrolably into something that we didnt intend. Affiliated with what? the car? Is it a hybridz crime to post interesting cars we find on craigslist or ebay now? I'm not sure what your trying to imply (if anything), but no I'm not, I found it this morning.
  10. Hope this isnt a repost, but I thought this was well done: http://www.mouseattack.org/240sx4.htm
  11. I'm going to backflush them first, but I'm I will still have to remove the inlet screens as some of the longer shards are wedged in there.
  12. I recently bought some lucas 550cc injectors for my Z and when they arrived I found that 4 of them had metal shavings and shards in them. I cannot afford to send them out and have them all cleaned so I need to try and do what I can at home to get them clean. They appear to all have good clean spray patterns, so I doubt that anything got past the inlet screens, but I'm not about to leave the metal in there while I have it all apart. I havnt tried to remove the inlet screens yet as I'm a bit afraid that I will mangle them on removal, does anyone have any advice, tips, or tricks that they use to remove them without damaging them?
  13. I have a Yakima rack for my Z, while functional, it looks ridiculous on such a small car. I would love to take some time in the not so distant future to build a custom rack that rides nice and low on the roof...until that time though, the yakima rack functions prefectly.
  14. Thats a nice kit, gives me some good ideas on how to persue mine. Because of the size of my intercooler and in angled mounting, I had to take the hood springs out. Typically I just use the hood prop, it works well, but I would love to replace it with some cleanly installed hood shocks.
  15. wow that is cool, I cant believe that the wheelbase is only1 inch off.
  16. I would go with the angry clown shoe, BMW M coupe all the way. I've driven several M coupes and roadsters and must say that they are awesome. I am a bit biased though as I have a love for da german machinery. unique, well mannered, and grippy. I know that the vette is a serious machine and very well priced, but geez are they boring. I see at least 20 of those things on the road...so many that they just blend in with all the other boring traffic. You could say the same thing about the 350Z, but I would still rather have that if I had to chose between the vette and Z. my opinion, naturally. Drive all of them first, then decide.
  17. Darn! I figured I was going to be the first to order a set of the RB's in 17"! Thats a good price, is that for all the possible colour combos? Can't wait to see pictures and a detailed write up!
  18. I am really liking this idea Austin, it could be automaticaly updated every X amount of visits. Admins! How can we make it happen?
  19. I like the idea of using the stock dash. To me, the speedo and tach locations recessed in the stock dash with the "hoods" over them are very similar to the large fender flares you have on your car, I think that they compliment each other and tie the exterior and interior together nicely. I've always like your car because of its beautiful flowing body lines and I think that something similar on the interior is fitting. Most of the custom dashes I see in Z cars make the car look cheap and unfinished, the exceptions being the 240SX dash, and the ferrari GTO dash (on GTO replicas of course) If your going for the all out race car look, and this will be a track only car a super lightweight dash with a stack data center would be ideal. But if you plan on driving it on the street and cruising around (and I hope you do!) It might be more comfortable and appealing in the long run to have a stock, or lightly modified stock dash in place to help make the car feel and appear finished and road worthy. There is a company in Australia and recovers dashes, they also do custom modifications on stock dashes. You could add one or two more gauges pods to the stock dash, or slightly rework the stock dash to accept gauges or switches or your choice, then ship it to them to have it recovered. That might be something to consider. Glad to see that your plugging away on getting the car up and going, if you ever find yourself on a test drive up in SA drop me a line, I would love to see it!
  20. does anyone know how often they are going ot release new episodes?
  21. Congratulations and good luck! Your car is incredible, amazing in detail and execution!
  22. http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/349135797.html Very cool little thing, especially for 300$. Back in my younger poorer days I would have already scooped this puppy up so it could sit in my yard for a few years until I decided to sell it for 150$ It's funny because its true.
