  1. HA! thats a good one....well done sir. well done.
  2. HA! oh thats the best one yet...even better than the PPPPPPower boo!
  3. did you see the pictures of the 60's mustang with a RB25 in it? they were posted here not to long ago. Spitfires are cool, but having been a mechanic for several road and race spits I cant say that I like them to much anymore. A guy at our shop had one with a 13B it....would surprise the crap out of some high$$ machinery. 911s are super cool and I would love to have one...but it would have to remain porsche motivated. I would do a bug eye sprite, Datsun roadster, TR4, or austin healey MKIII, maybe a mini cooper? I'm still going to build a hybrid Honda N600 someday...I actually still have the shell and some parts...you can buy it for 50$ A fiat 600 would be super cool as well with a transversly mounted rotary? That would FLY! I would also love to have an old bug decked out in 60s gears, two-tone...but with turbo Porsche drivetrain. Maybe a early first gen GTi with a 1.8t? anywho...could go on forever!
  4. cool! There are very few people I know that listen to the same thing I do, Its very nice to find more people within a community that I already associate with. I will have to do a search for some of the groups mentioned above, looks like my music collection might just grow a little this weekend! zweet! thanks again!
  5. ohhhhhh that is really cool!
  6. Geez, I can just see that now! almost made me laugh out loud in class!!
  7. thanks for the info, I knew that I would get some good info from yous guys. thus far the majority of the stuff ive D'ld is pure garbage....however, I think that M-Flo, and Buddha Brand are decent (from what I've heard anyway.) I'll keep looking and hoping for the best though...theres always hope right? I wish I didnt have this damn music addiction. I can never have enough music. I consume and pass through music like greasy breakfast tacos! hmmmm.....tacos......
  8. You would be surprised! I find that alot of the "other" sites LOVE the early Z car and would gladly sell or trade their econoracers for what we are so lucky to have. The cult status of the early Z is on the rise, we are starting to get major magazine coverage as well as serious representation on the local highways, byways, and racetracks. Keep the Z and ditch the turbo sentra idea. New(er) cars with working AC and good window seals are NICE, dont get me wrong, but for all out fun nothing beats a classic turbo Zed. Keep the sentra you have now and give it a decent suspension with some good tires and keep cruising the Z for those special occasions.....
  9. Hey gang, I know that I haven't been the most active member lately as School, personal matters and the lack of a complete Z have kept me lurking for the last year. So I hope that when I do become more of an active member again that my general nonsense postings will subside.....BUT! until then I'm come to yall because I know somebody out there has the answers that I seek. I've been listening to alot of underground HipHop lately (atmosphere, aesop rock, ugly duckling, Mr. Lif, Deltron3030, MF Doom, Slug ETC ETC) and am looking for an equivalent from the other side of the world. I know this is kinda of a stretch, but also feel that this site and its members are some of the most well rounded and most knowledgeable people on the planet in all things, and not just carZ. anywho.... thanks!!!!!
  10. I did that in my 72. It was a half circle box made out of mdf and internally caoted with fiberglass. It made the box and Amp easil;y removeable so that I could take it out during my AutoX'ing. It didnt sound that bad and I was able to get the speaker fairly centered in the car. You do loose the spare though, and I began to question my need for a sub in the already loud 240Z. After a year the box was removed and scraped, making way for the spare.
  11. Yup, Ive got a story as well to go along with my old 69 plymouth valiant. I had big dreams at 17 Y.O. to get the car all painted and nice.....saved and borrowed some money from my parents and entrusted it with a young guy starting his own business. To make a long story short he lied to me for over a year about how the car was coming along and always asked for a payment for the work and supplies he needed, he was always away from the shop so I never really got to see the "work" a couple weeks after I made the decision to pull the car out out he disappears with my money and some of my valiant parts. my brand new carb, fuel lines and tank were all destroyed and I was out 2K dollars. I then took the car to another body shop the was suppose to be reputable but they screwed me too....another 1200.00. told me the car was ready to paint and had been stripped to bare metal....lies lies lies. well, three years into it i ended up learning how to do body work on the car because I had to redo everything that had been done to it, but ended up having several job offers as a result of my new found talent. the car was such a hassle and I never did see it finished....I eventually sold it two years ago at a loss of 10K. Ever since that first dealing with "performance" or "Custom" shops I have done everything myself and vowed to never get screwed again. I have yet to find a shop that has real world knowledge and respectable workers/owners. The recent import explosion has created a slew of new mini shops that wouldn't know how to properly put a car together if their life depended on it. anywho....Always visit the shop on a weekly basis and pull the car on the first sign of lying. if you as a customer take the first lie, the problems will only get worse.
  12. now thats how you sell a car on ebay, lots of pictures. That car has also been posted here before some time ago in a discussion about putting AR wheels ona zcar, if i remember correctly, the owner posted?
  13. hey Chris, Tried to send you an email and pm but it failed, can you drop me a line at sparky@fastercar.com
  14. wow that looks really great Chris! must be nice to get back behind the wheel! what kind of HP are you shooting for with that setup? I'll be on the lookout for some Z's while im in houston on march 1st, maybe i'll catch a glimpse of your "new" ride. laterZ!
  15. well, its like this, I had a girlfriend of mine answer her door in a little nighty type thing...there was a glow from the back room and I could see her shape through the silky thing...that was a fantastic night....if she had ansered the door completely naked, than it wouldnt have been so sexy, and I wouldnt have been so excited to see her (although being naked in itself isnt bad, but there can be something sexy about some loose fitting easily removable clothing.) however, sometimes these get-ups can be a pain in the arse. those multi layer straight-jacket type things.....errrr. but ummm anyway, It might not be the lingerie itself thats so attractive, but the fact that when you see a woman....probably your woman in such a thing you just know your going to get some. (unless of course you somehow end up screwing it up....not that im not guilty of such things....) wow....didnt think I would ever reply to something like this on hybridz.
  16. 318 from 84-87 was a 1.8 SOHC slug of a motor, reliable but very old, very slow, easy to work on, but parts are not S30 cheap (we get spoiled by that and chevy parts prices.) the bimmer is on average cheaper to run than my honda accord. especially if you can do the work yourself. 318 from 90-91 was a DOHC large scale production motor based of the s14 that was in the E30 M3 chassis. its a robust little thing that likes the be revved...not the biggest on HP but sporty non-the-less and fairly reliable. it does have some issues such as the profile gasket and low oil pan clearance. most of the late 318's were black two door IS versions. they typically came equipped with 411LSDs, bigger sportier wheels/tires, slightly stiffer springs and shocks, and higher rate A/R bars. check to make sure it has a LSD...most people did take that option on purchase, but seeing as how it was a budget bimmer, you sometimes get taken...also, some people remove the LSD and swap in a taller gear to keep the revs down on the highway. 325E was a "E"conomy model, low revs, low compression, low power, crazy reliable. the E stopped production in 86/late 87, but did come in an ES variant. if you buy a E version car you can bolt on an "I" head add some other parts and have a super ETA engine, 2.7 liters of higher compression, high revving goodness. most bimmer nuts end up doing this conversion. my friend is working on a 3.1 liter turbo stroker for his 91 E30 chassis. 325IS was the two door only sport version that ran from 87 to 91, five speed, torquey, awesome. some IS cars did get an auto. AVOID THE AUTOMATIC AT ALL COSTS. it sucks and drains the fun out of the car. 84-early 88 3 series cars had huge 5mph bumpers that are rather big and heavy, they also had full size reverse lights, completely vertical. the late 88 to 91 had smaller integrated bumpers, smaller reverse lights , slanted taillight ends, and lower rear wheel wells, most everything on the interior stayed the same. ABS was not standard on any of the 3 series except the 318is and 90's versions. stay away from the 5 series and 7 series. these are money pits that do require higher the average maintenance. this is not always the case though, but it tends to ring true. I would look for a late small bumper 325is with some upgrades, these can easily be had for 3-4K. dont buy from a dealer, always buy from individuals... more... the M20 inline six engine had a timing belt that needs to be changed every 60K miles. if it was changed by the dealer or BMW repair center there will be a sticker on the AFM telling you when it was changed. IMHO, by prepared to change it when you buy the car. no matter what. unless the PO has good proof that it was changed recently. its not a hard job to do, and if you can maintain a Z, you can maintain a 3 series with a little more knowledge and tools. the M42 DOHC 1.8 liter from the 318is has a chain, and is slightly tougher in that regard. the convertable had the large bumpers until 91, and continued in production until early '93. some people will refute this, but IT IS A FACT! the convertable didnt get a power top until 91. bimmer.org bmwe30.net do a google search on E30 (chassis code), M42 1.8 engine code, profile gasket M42, super ETA, and M20 reliability. plenty of info out there. my friends 318is had 200+K miles on it before it threw the #3 rod (the engine had been severely abused for its entire life and had lost oil pressure multiple times due to cracked oil pans (this is an autoX car that was very low) BMW offers a crash guard for the E30 318IS cars, but if you can weld metal you can build one yourself. anything else? with whatever you buy I suggest doing a car-part.com or partsbin.com search on common failure items. water pumps, fuel pumps, AFMs, ignition stuffs. in comparison you will find parts are comparable to many other vehicles in that price range...but the bimmer will tend to retain its value and hover around 3-4k. OH and Bimmer is the automotive slang term, and Beemer is motorcycles.
  17. I mounted my boost gauge onto my steering column cover and will later integrate a boost gauge/controller and EGT gauge into the same spot but with a custom carbon fiber cover. its a great spot for guages as you dont really have to move your eyes that much to get the vitals. I do like the idea of a couple of gauges mounted to the cowl....very old hot rod look. I also have a A/F ratio gauge mounted in the face of the stock tacho...... I will get back to work on that car in due time!
  18. I too would have junked that car long ago, almost makes me regret having to cut up that early 70's chassis........well.......nahhhhh it doesn't your doing excellent work and its most impressive for some first time welding. kudos to you Austin, hope to see your project on the road very soon......
  19. wow, now that is a thing of beauty.....thats going to be a handful eh?

  21. David, If the truck is in your name, than why don't you report it stolen? when she brings it back, have her arrested but offer to not press charges if she gives your cash back. OR you could just list it stolen and let her sit in jail. Personally if somebody I had at one time cared about dicked me over like that, I would most certainly not be as cool and calm about as you seem to be. I would make sure that she would pay...in one way or another. What she did is just bad karma at the upmost level and deserves no mercy IMHO. of course its that kind of attitude that keeps my single I guess. ? who knows. Thats life I guess though, and it sounds like you have a great son to spend time with and raise smart and right. hope all works out....
