  1. See what happens when people have to take things so literally?? Geesh.. I see plenty of home grown, less than perfect paint jobs at car shows.. and I applaud them for doing the best they can with what they have. Some of the finest cars ever built were painted with a brush and sanded smooth for many years. aka: Rolls Royce for one. Color choice and body prep are the key to getting the best result with this method.
  2. Tape that toe to the next one. Eat lotsa Ibuprophen ( 4 at a time every 6 hrs) and keep it elevated and warm. Thats about all you can do. if you have any better painkillers that helps..
  3. I've just been informed that my refund will be used to pay what my wife owes the IRS... we have much to discuss!!!!! We might even be on "COPS" tv.

    Why...

Not exactly "Chezoom" is it?? Looks like the front could be a bit better tailored to flow with the windshield and roofline and not look so fat. Chezoom= a custom built for ZZ Top by Boyd Coddington many moons ago... also built Cadzilla.
  5. Ok , you buy it for me and I'll make it fit...deal??
  6. Since you already have the 305, just slip a decent cam in it, keeping in mind a torque cam will be better in the engines effective rpm range. use an Edelbrock Performer or Performer RPM intake, or even just a clean beadblasted H.O 305 intake. add some shorty headers, paint it up pretty with some nice chrome or aluminum accessories and run it! Like was said earlier, it will get you going and if it stays nice you can sell it later when you swap in the powerhouse!!
  7. If it weren't for the fact that right now my shop consists of a level spot in the backyard between 2 trees beside my storage shed I wouldn't care that it is so damn cold!!! Well, cold to me anyway. High today is suppose to be 40.
  8. $300 sounds good. You can recoup some of your cash by selling off little things you dont use.. and if you ditch the idea, you can get your money back easily at that price. I'd have to question the true mileage 70k for a 24 yr old car doesnt seem resonable. It is possible but you would think the rest of the car would be nice at that low mileage. I'd also be concerned about how long it has been off the road. Engine seals and such as well as fuel systems deteriorate with age and require freshening up... this can be pricey when you statrt to apply the " Well, while I've got this apart I really should go ahead and do........" policy.
  9. Crowbar- A sure sign that the repair is going to become somewhat more involved than stated in text. * see also, prybar, big ole' screwdriver. B*M*F*H- Device used to persuade and or demolish parts to fit securely or become dislodged, usually parts other than those needing adjustment... *can cause similar results as aforementioned 'Crowbar'
  10. :nono:Don't mind the tokin' and the free love but don't :cuss:try to take away my fossil fuel suckin',ozone wasting:willy_nil,top speed bustin', tire smokin' goodies!!!
  11. Zsane...I think I soiled myself....
  12. I CAN SOOOOO RELATE TO THAT STATEMENT!!!!! Since I hurt my back in July I spend all of my time on all of the afore mentioned sites and then some!!! I can't tell you how many builds I've done and shortly after wish I had held out for a little more power... dont let 500-800 bucks stand between you and something you'll truly enjoy unless your really on a tight budget. But 2100 compared to 2800 shouldnt be more than a few weeks of savings. Just start skipping meals, shower less, sit in the dark, stay home and save up!!!! LOL!!!
  13. http://www.241computers.com/ford/ContentExpress20-30-38.html 380lbs W/TURBO FROM T-bird is what I have dealt with. I do see several variations and weights. Here is a handy chart for engine sizes/dimensions of many manufacturers
  14. Any better price and I'd have to hide it from the COPS..LOL
  15. there are many tricks you can do with the 2.3 and even on a budget you can make good power. T-charged motors are seen in many sports and naturally aspirated they are dollar for dollar easy to build as parts are readily available... I say originality weighs in your favor as well. I can also say that the 2.3 is not nearly as heavy as the 5.0 There are some great heads available aftermarket also. Look into some of the old stroker kits used by circle track guys using Oldsmobile rods and such.... On a budget the 2.0 Ranger head is a quick trick as well..
  16. Handling has to be good enough for me to drive to the dragstrip !!!! <
  17. I plopped a fresh 200r4 GN tranny behind a 403 Olds motor, small cam, 2200 stall with 3:73 gears in a 82 Cutlass. I made 9 passes in the 1/8 mile. Drove it to work all week. Decided to do a parking lot burn out and lost a front pump... ate itself alive.. Just like an old powerglide, you have to have the aftermarket goodies inside.....
  18. One of the tow drivers probably has his eye on it so their ripping yall off!!
  19. Several shady characters around here pick up "stray cars" from complexes and even beside the highway and take them out to country shops and chop em. Then they haul the hull to crush. Back in 92 I had a 69 f150 pu run out of gas on me near home and 4 hrs later it was gone. 2 weeks later I saw my tailgate with a little hand painted Marvin Martian ( by me) on another truck in town. I told the latino dude driving it I was calling the cops unless he told me where he bought it and he gave me the name of a small shop about 8 miles from where I broke down. I called the cops and they found most of my parts, but the cab and frame had been crushed..
