  1. I'm sitting here right now awaiting my first round of Epidural Injections because of lower lumbar damage lifting at work. I've been out of work injured since July trying to get MRI and Xray info and coordinate DRs with my Comp Insurer... I have the added issue of being very overweight so it makes it all worse. It is a shame to have all of this free time and not be able to do much. I "tinker" as much as I can but crawling under a car and lifting stuff is impossible so I am falling way behind on my car I hoped to have ready for the Z shootout in March and the Grassroots race in October 2007. I'm hoping they don't talk surgery as i have never heard of a "good" Lower back fix. Then when I am released I have the pleasure of trying to find a new job that won't require lifting or standing for long periods since I have severe degeneration as well the DRs say. Gonne be a long haul for a 40yr old with only a HS education.... But Granny always said :For every door that closes a window opens", so we will see. I hope all of you do well with your injuries.
  2. I know I probably have overlooked the info doing my search. Can I, and is there any advantage to, swap a 280zx brake booster for the 260z booster. I know I can upgrade the MC but without the 280zx booster being in my hands to test I didnt know if i can use it as well? I'm using a SBC with auto so no clutch cylinder to get in the way...
  3. So what kinda spoiled little brat had that ride!!
  4. Datsun PU would give you the ability to lighten the front and add to the back in ways no one would suspect. Wheel wells would allow larger tires for better traction and easy to mini tub if needed. You can cover it all with a tonneau cover, trick it up like a lowrider and kick butt! You could even possible do one of the "undercar" turbo setups in the bed out of sight....
  5. That is EXACTLY the style and profile I'm looking for from my car. I had even considered a similar paint scheme ( I'll change that now..LOL) I've already tossed the front and rear bumpers but I filled the indentions in the 1/4s. I'm looking for a steal on a frt airdam. *nice job!!!
  6. I love the 58 buick bumper on the front of the "dually". Nothing like old american iron to make a bull bar!!
  7. Cool... ya gotta watch out for the stuff being sold these days... They use cheap labor and outsourced suppliers everywhere...
  8. Spending may be out of control but isn't it funny that the coastal areas and the rich inhabited mudslide prone always seem the quickest to be rebuilt at taxpayers expense? We can flood foreign soil with funds and soldiers but we still have Katrina victims without homes/jobs.... Yet the Saints have the Superdome!? I understand the need to get jobs going again but I wonder had this been a wealthier social climate would things have been handled much differently..?
  9. They look like CRAP you should send then to me and let me dispose of those hiddeous things!!!!
  10. have A-Z chrge the batt , put iot back in the car and drive it to A-Z and let them test the charging system on the car...
  11. I just want a couple of old school slots 15x8 or 15x9 or 10 4 lug that I can use with no adapters and some drag radials. I'll keep 14x6 slots in the front if thats all I can find, and a mini spare. I'll be doing my "giddy up" in a straight line..
  12. Yeah Brandon!!, that was called Cowboys and Indians or Cops and Robbers or Spaceman and you played it with sticks and old boxes and bikes... Only limit was your imagination!!!
  13. Nav, I understand about the spending... My wife just wants to make everyone happy so she tries to give everyone she makes eye contact with a gift!! Plus we don't have kids so she directs that energy (and cash) at 3 already spoiled rotten nephews..LOL As far as friends go, both hers and mine have all moved away in the last year so it has been weird this year not having cookouts and gamenights... Were not much for church and not hardcore party people either so its hard to find others to hang out with at our age.. I'm 40, she's a tad younger... Maybe we can get some of this Z bunch in NC together sometime...
  14. good job!!! I once drove a 1970 Mach 1 122 miles from a dragstrip home at 3 in the morning after a second place finish ( because my damn throttle cable snapped!!) with multiple woven strands of cassette tape used as a string to pull the throttle under the hood running through the tach hole in the firewall... worst thing was it was a 500hp 4 spd !! I would pull the tape and work the clutch and my girlfriend would change gears... I've also driven 200 miles in the rain with kite string running through both windows and a buddy pulling both ends to make the wipers work to get us home... You can't beat the good old survival instinct...LOL
  15. Hey Some-guy....she Got A Sister????
  16. Any good salvage yard has all the interchange info you'll need... Sounds like the front pump is gone or perhaps the valve body is stuck but usually if this is the case it will pull in some direction... You can take the time to drop the pan and make sure the filter is in place properly and see if you have metallic dust and shavings in the pan. Make sure your linkage is moving when the shifter is moved also. Just know that in most cases, when a tranny doesnt do as it should, a rebuild or replace is in order as you'll seldom get away with something simple but it never hurts to check unless your having to pay others to do it..... In the even't you need a tranny consider pricing a rebuild with several shops before you go used... Most yards dont have much of a replacement policy and often will tell you no money back but they will "find" you another tranny...well needless to say used ones from 20 yrs ago arent going to be plentiful or low milage units. So they can make you wait indefinately while your out of the money and your ride!! Even if it means delaying the repair ( if you can spare the car) get it rebuilt.
  17. I've used the solid blocks/boards for years. And I have quite a collection of various sizes of pvc pipe, paint rollers, pipe insulation and several other various "objects" I use for shaping and contouring. I would say definately buy the colored ones but you can use everything from kitchen sponges to nerf balls for sanding blocks when you need anything other than a straight flat surface... But I'm thrifty LOL!!! CHEAP like that....
  18. http://www.idavette.net/facts/76.htm here is all the info
  19. I dunno...kinda looks like a skinny woman with a big nose to me..."pass"
  20. the "rubber bumper" corvettes (no chrome bumpers) arent bringing good money unless they are really nice. I just watched a daily driver sell in my neighboorhood lasy week for $3800 with decent paint and recovered seats. It had plain rally wheels and was original otherwise but could use a little of everything. Interior and weatherstripping is expensive to replace on Vettes so I'd say it is top dollar at 4k and I wouldnt pay it... but thats just my opinion... watch out for rusty frame areas and stress cracks in the fiberglass as well. Alot of Vettes around here in NC coastal areas are flood recoveries and it isn't as obvious because you don't see the rot unless you check the frame. Mid 70's were know for some electrical bugs too if I recall...
  21. if the float is set too high in the carb you might be pouring gas down the carb through the vent and this is flooding you out. What does it do during an extended idle? If you pull it in low gear when it bogs and nail it what happens? You might have a bad vaccuum advance as well.. Could also be vapor lock. How is the fuel line routed, do you have a fuel filter and where is it mounted? What distributor are you running?
