  1. We'll I got a Great deal on a set of coil over shocks. I got four QA1 Proma Star adjustable coilovers for less than $400.00. These retail for $400.00 each. Now all I need is two front C6 Z06 wheels and I'm in business. I ordered the sheetmetal & tubing for the flares and should be posting some progress pics very soon. I am getting this car back on the road next year one way or another.
  2. Looks great! Good job documenting the overhaul. Two things I noticed though. 1) You may already know this but wait till the car is back on the ground sitting on the wheels to torque the lower contriol arm bushings where they meet the unibody. This will prevent you from pre loading those bushings and putting too much preasure on them as well as aftecting the ride height. 2) I'm being picky here, but why not paint the half shafts black like the rest of the suspension. They will stand out from the reast of the nicly painted suspension. Again great Job! Rick
  3. Dan, That is a fantastic job It looks great. I just caught the thread after the work was done. Just like me to be the last one to know. This will give me an excuse to go to O town for a visit. I'll give Speeder a call to meet you down there. Rick
  4. These aren't for everyone but I am running 345/30R19's on factory 08 Z06 wheels. Even with my 85 C4 suspension I had to get 3" wheel adapters made to use them. Probably way too much postive offset for most of you. I just did a quick mock up to see if they will work. The final flare will be a bit different design but you'll get the idea.
  5. As a fellow Marine it is always hard to hear about soldiers who die in combat. All I know is her parents can be very proud of thier daughter for serving and defending our way of life! This was something she chose to do and for that Myself and all of her fellow Marines are eternally gratefull!! Semper Fi. Rick Hughes
  6. Good job Scottie! We'll have to come down to celebrate!!
  7. Just got my 345/30R19 rear tires mounted today. Those things are WIDE! I'll be mocking it up this weekend and should be able to post pics next week.
  8. Do a quick search alot of your questions have all ready be answered. Also search the body work links too.
  9. Hey I'm interested looks like a killer motor for a Z! Keep us updated with your progress.
  10. Looks Ok. but I still prefer them painted not undercoated. You will find undercoating will rub off and is not resistant to gas or other fluids. I like the initive though keep us updated.
  11. Thanks Scottie, but I never left, I just haven't been posting since there has been little progress to report. I missed the SEZ again this year but plan on making it next spring. With the car running of course!
  12. Thanks! It has been a long road so far and hope to have it back running this year. Hey Jeff give me a call at work this week 352-376-7581 ext 263
  13. Thanks Mike I'm still around and the project should be moving along this summer. as for the front tires I am running 18 x 10" rims up front. I was going with 18 8.5 but found the 18 X 10's were availible.
  14. I will, I just want to get it further along before I share too many of my ideas.
  15. There are several alblums on the picturetrail account. I had to password protect one of them till my car gets further along. But here are some of the early mock ups with smaller 315's
  16. To respond to both of you guys: Dudeboy I have C4 suspension front & rear so the bolt pattern is no issue. I do however need a 2.5" wheel adapter to allow for the positive backspacing. This is not a spacer ( ie flat plate) but an adapter that you bolt onto the hub and has a set of lugs that the wheel bolts onto. Bothe the inside and outside are also hubcentric. Zr8ed Believe it or not i'll only be flaring my car 3-3.5" to clear those tires. I narrowed the C4 suspension 4" per side to allow large rubber without the need for huge flares. It will however be noticibley wider than stock. So I guess I'm in the larger than average bottom club. This should also solve some traction issues I was having.
  17. Try this link http://www.keefeperformance.com/kp1200.html Also Jegs sells heat sleeve as well
  18. First of all I applaud you using a jag rear suspension set up!! The reduced unsprung weight should work out nice for a street/ strip car. Do you have any room to bring the tire in (as in wheel house room)? If so the logical choice would be to shorten the halfshafts and bring in the mounts for the suspension. This would allow you to keep them under the sheetmetal. More pics of the rest of the suspension would be helpfull. If my memory serves me correctly the Jag set up uses the halfshaft as the upper arm and the lower arm serves as the shock mount as well as keeping the suspension from rotating? If that is the case you can shorten both arms the needed 1/2 to 1" and provide your clearance needed asuming you have the wheel well for it.
  19. I love it with a few tweeks it would sell!! This is what I had hoped Nissan would have done with the 350Z. This to me is more what the evolution of the Z would have looked like. Also to me tha is the best looking rear view of any car minus the louvers of course.
  20. I just scored a set of 2008 Z06 rims for my Z. The fronts are 18" X 8.5" and the rears are 19" x 12". They are made by Speedline in Italy adn weigh only 27lbs for the rears. The Tires will be front 285/35R18's and rear 345/30R19's I was going with 17's but the tire choices are slim for 335/35R17's. The over all diameter is only 1" difference and I now have several tire choices. Of course none of them are cheap. This will also allow me to run the bigger C6 Z06 brakes or comperable. The main part is I will be able to get back to work on the Z. Now that I have rims and tires I can finish the body work on the flares. I'll post some mock up pics soon.
  21. Looks good! I know how it feels to take that first step and cut out the old rails. After that it gets easier. keep us updated on the progress.
  22. Looks Outstanding! Keep us updated with pics.
  23. Scottie's set up is great for drag racing as we all know. Also his set up does not require as much surgury as mine. I have a C4 diff but I went with a new subframe, set up more for road racing. It raises the diff higher to lower the center of gravity. You could do it as a back half without the ful tube frame. The rear subframe was built by Randy Hunter of Hunter Kit cars located south of Ocala Fl. Either set up will work just depends on what you goals are for the car.
