  1. The better it flows, the better the end result in a turbo application.
  2. This is not a forum for legal advice, but I suspect there are forums out there for that reason. I would find one and ask your question there for starters.
  3. Spent yesterday working on the car, tidying up some issues so the next owner won't have to. Shortened the stainless downpipe by 1.5", and regained over 1" in (much needed) ground clearance. New stainless exhaust tip as well. (3" tip, 3" exhaust!) I also put in a 7psi wastegate spring, as the one I had in there was a 15psi one, and too much for the moment. Took the car out for a drive tonight, what a blast. The extended exhaust tip quieted things down a notch, which is nice. Ground clearance was great. When I modified the downpipe I also changed the placement of the exhaust a bit, and stopped it from contacting the chassis at a couple points. (All this while improving ground clearance) The end result was a few less squeaks and rattles, which made a noticeable difference driving. (NVH was not a consideration in this cars former purpose) Did some 7psi runs... and anywhere over about 3000rpm the tires just go up in smoke in 1st or 2nd gear. Feels pretty darn good! Forgot how tossible this car is too, I spent a lot of time on suspension setup for the track, and it really is dialed in nicely.
  4. He has never lost a sock. He has been known to cure narcolepsy, just by walking into the room. His organ donation card, also lists his beard. He’s a lover, not a fighter, but he’s also a fighter, so don’t get any ideas. When it is raining, it is because he is sad. Even his parents’ advice is insightful. If there were an interesting gland, his would be larger than most men’s entire lower intestines. His shirts never wrinkle. He is left-handed. And right-handed. Even if he forgets to put postage on his mail, it gets there. He once knew a call was a wrong number, even though the person on the other end wouldn’t admit it. You can see his charisma from space. The police often question him, just because they find him interesting. He once punched a magician. That’s right. You heard me. When he orders a salad, he gets the dressing right there on top of the salad, where it belongs…where there is no turning back. If a monument was built in his honor, Mt. Rushmore would close, due to poor attendance. His beard alone has experienced more than a lesser man’s entire body. His blood smells like cologne. On every continent in the world, there is a sandwich named after him. He doesn’t believe in using oven mitts, nor potholders. His cereal never gets soggy. It sits there, staying crispy, just for him. His pillow talk is years ahead of it’s time. Respected archaeologists fight over his discarded apple cores.
  5. I'm pretty sure he's the "most interesting man in the world"...
  6. Hey thanks Braap, good thing my wife dragged me away when she did, I'd have driven the speedster home! Stony... under a rock... No seriously, where have you been?
  7. http://www.speedhut.com/ Revolution series. Do a search, lots of people using them in Z's and they are very nice looking, a lot cheaper than DEFI and so on, and thin profile.
  8. Hey said in his post it would cost him 80,000kr (12,326.45 USD) per year to register the E46 M3...
  9. I think you missed part of the point of my linked thread. A dyno is best used as a comparative tool, not a meter to tell you absolute HP measurements. Switching dyno's to get a bigger number doesn't make your car any faster, does it?
  10. Don't pour thousands into building a new engine just yet. I've yet to see a car roll onto the dyno for a TUNING SESSION (ie: not just a baseline) that wasn't leaving horsepower untapped. In some cases with V8's like yours, their has been 50+hp untapped that could be freed up with just tuning. Check out the dyno thread here: Dyno Tuning Thread For instance: This was just jetting and timing in both cases... Buy some jets, and head back to the shop.
  11. It's still for sale. A guy can still drive it and work on it though, can't he?
  12. I've always been a coupe guy myself, been in love since they came out in 1998. Love the stance, the oddball design (a car that doesn't look like every other car out there) and the extra chassis rigidity. Nearly everyone that drove and reviewed the Z3 M coupe reviewed it as the best handling car of it's time. Pure sex as far as I am concerned! Need to save up a few more peso's... unless someone wants to buy the Z then it can happen really quick. A nice example for sale in your neck of the woods Mike.
  13. Insured the Z again, finally turning the wheels in anger a little bit. A few issues as a result of sitting that I had to sort out, a new starter for one. Finally got the WG hooked up (I was breaking it in before, was boost and RPM limited during that period), and ran the car around at 6psi. I've been driving slow cars for too long! The car is really built with a race car mentality, so it needs some attention for street use. Going to see if I can't pick away at putting an interior in it, to hopefully quiet things down a little bit.
  14. There is a reason the newest car I've ever owned was 3 years old... I'll let someone else lose money hand over fist on a new car purchase thank you very much! Part of it is the economy though, not just the age of the vehicle. I've been looking at Z3 M Coupes for years, the current prices are down about $10k from where they were a couple of years ago. I have little doubt they would have been stable in a better economy, because they had already plateaued on their depreciation curve. It's a good time to buy a sports car.
  15. Try working on the engine in a Z31 and you'll understand.
  16. I like! The modifications definitely take it a step up.
  17. It's a sad state when 2 track day cars aren't enough, and you have to rush to get the 3rd one finished. Good on ya Mike!
  18. I still get people at work commenting on how expensive my BMW's are, while they drive cars they paid twice as much money for... Even from people that should know better. Just because my 10 year old Bimmer is twice the car their Saturn/VW/Ford is, doesn't mean I paid even close to what they did for their cars. Doing brakes on the E39 wagon today... complete brake package including 4 rotors, pads, e-brake shoes, e-brake springs, wear sensors and bolts for $500... Pretty reasonable in my books. Yeah I drive an older car so these things must be done, but I'll take that tradeoff anyday over driving an uninspiring newer car.
  19. Can you get a ZHP package in AWD? Take a look, it's a nice option package.
  20. Bosch housings in my Z, and they are great. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.
  21. I've done it with success. Back in the day I was assembling stainless steel/titanium high pressure distribution lines used in a pure oxygen environment. Everything had to be 100% oil free. I used an old dishwasher with TSP as the cleaner, worked like a charm. I would be putting in parts that are nearly in a "clean" state before using the dishwasher on them. Also be aware that unprotected mild steel parts will likely come out quite rusty, and need further cleanup to paint, etc.
  22. The right wheel and tire combo makes all the difference on a car, and that combo couldn't be better honestly. Looks great! If I see you around town I'll be the idiot honking at you.
  23. I used to carry them in my shop, decent build quality, nice seat. $749 is robbery though, I think I was paying less than $200 per when I bought them...
