  1. I have a custom ground billet cam in it now....... this same set up (cam and blower) made 577 to the wheels through a 4l60e...... i fell like this should be at 600.
  2. I did not know the history of the motor. I needed to do a service on it, I was changing out the cam, and figured that I would feel a whole lot better about the the motor if it was checked out. Rather than putting it in and having not any insurance of good gaskets. I know that this is not "my dad's SBC" but I would be pissed if I shoe horned that thing in the car and it went "pop" I am looking at 285, or larger tires to help out with traction. There is another Z that is in the family that I need to keep up with or beat....... That car and driver happen to be building a very nice car....... As far as the hood......I guess I can go with a cowl but would prefer not to have to. My other option is the Datsun competition hood scoop....
  3. Vroom vroom...... I wonder if it will fit under the hood....... slow going at it but at least this gets me a chance to clean up the chasis in preparation for the frame rails..... Here is a pic so you guys know this is real.....
  4. @RebekahsZ Sorry I have to steal a quote from you for my sig. Back to the issue at hand. I am in the process of building my LS conversion now. I am taking notes on all of the carnage that ya'll are having so that I can make sure that I do not go through the same thing. Keep us in the loop on your decision.
  5. I just dropped 1800 on a nicely built t56. I had been told time and time again that I could not find a core for less than 1500.... Well after waiting it out I found a local guy that had a t56 for sale. My swap is getting expensive. If I did not have a case of the well shit, while I am doing this I might as well do this....... I would be a lot better off ( money wise)

  7. I am extending my harness to have everything mounted inside the car. For now that is the only thing I can think of.

  12. God knows we need ground clearance in these cars. I will keep that in mind when shoehorning my motor in the car over the next few months.

  17. Wow! I am VERY interested to see what you end up using as your rear drivetrain. I am still in the build stages of my LS3/Magnacharger/T56 build and have not secured my rear diff/drivetrain set up yet. I opted to go with the manual as I want to be able to shift and be out on a road course. I look forward to seeing this thing flying down the road!!! VIDEOS!!!!
  18. I got a LS3 with all accessories, pedal, wiring harness, ECU, shipped to me for 2850.00 It has 90000 on the clock. I am pulling the heads and replacing all gaskets, water pump, and a few things for he heads. I figured that I would be going through the motor anyway. PM me and I can give you the guy's info.
  19. South of you by a few hours..... Although I do go up to Richardson every few months ( family trips..) I don't bring the car up as it has not been fully functional YET....
  20. I wanted to have the ability to fix the car easily. with a VH platform I don't think there is that much aftermarket support or the ability to diagnose issues as easily as the LS. The LS can make gobs of power and perform well above what will need from it. I have all of the money for the rearend swap, now I just have to go out and buy the parts and wait for the others to be made. I am also looking at brake options at this time. I don't foresee the car being on the streets until October. At this point I can't even find the time to spend a few hours to get the car finalized and sent to the shop.......
  21. Look into the Ford 8.8 conversion........ It seems to me that it is more stout and can take a beating. That and the fact it seems to be the best bang for the buck at this point. I have something in the works using that rearend.......Talk to Sunny Z he and Wfritts are using that set up......
  22. I am watching this as well. I will be finishing my set up in a few months. I have a LS3 with a Maggie blower, custom ground cam, and some goodies in the heads..... this is all through a T56.... I am undecided of which way to go....R230, or Ford 8.8...... I can get my hands on a LSD R200 but I don't know if it will hold up......
  23. I went by Tidewater Z there in VA ( am not about to spell Paquosin)........ They seemed like a fun crew to be around
  24. Looks like they made due with what they had. I.E. used a sway bar that measures the same overall but not for a z. But what the hell do i know.
