Rota RB/RB-R, 4x114.3, 17", Z-Offset Wheels
lifegrddude replied to rudypoochris's topic in Group Buys
The rain finally stopped long enough for me to snap a couple of shots of my zx. The 9" wheels sit fairly flush in the rear, but maybe the 9.5" will sit better. I just prefer a non staggered setup as my last set of wheels were staggered, and I didn't like the handling characteristics that came with the setup. I tried to show the 9" from multiple angles. Hope this helps any S130Z owners out there! Sorry my zx is dirty, I've been extremely busy with work, but it's raining again today, so I figured it wasn't worth it to wash and wax it yet. =) -

Rudypoochris, the rears are pretty flush, although the front wheels do sit a little better. I'll try to take a picture of the Z dead on from the rear to show you how the wheels sit on both front and rear fenders. The drop from the Suspension Techniques springs is ~1 1/8", with the air dam, the drop looks more dramatic though. Kanzen, thanks haha! I don't think I ever said my ZX was the most badass though. =P There are plenty of people with way nicer ZXs: Yasin, JeffP, Warren and Hudhdogz are some that come to mind. I can only hope my zx will be as nice as theirs someday! I'll try though. =) -

Rudy, my ZX is lowered on Suspension Technique springs with Tokicos shocks. I had to roll my fenders because otherwise it would rub on any little dip. However, my experience is only with the 9" wheels, not the 9.5". Maybe it's different with the 9.5". BankokZ, thanks for the compliment man. As already posted by others, the wheels are 9" all around with a -13 offset, and the tires are 255/40 Sumitomo HTRZ III tires. -

Hi, here's a couple pics of my ZX with the RB-Rs, but sorry for the poor quality photo. It's from my cell phone. =( Plus the weather still didn't look too promising, so I didn't take it out for a drive to a nicer location. =P I'll post some more pics later once the weather clears up. -

Just got my tires mounted today, and got my wheels on the Z, but ran outta daylight before I could take some pics. I'll take some tomorrow barring any rain. For those who have a 280zx, mine is lowered 1" on Suspension Technique springs, and with a 255/40 tire, it will fit nicely in the wells. I have the 17x9 RB-Rs, and they do not stick out past the fender, they sit almost flush. -

My wheels (17x9 Bronze) and tires (255/40) just arrived. I'll see if I can get them mounted by the end of the week. I'm surprised at how fast the wheels got here! I ordered my tires 3 days before my wheels too. -
I've used this clutch for about 2000 miles so far. It's not bad for a budget clutch, although it does have a short range of engagement so some chatter is present during stop and go at times. I followed the break-in schedule, and so far up to 16 psi it hasn't slipped. I'll be trying it on 20 psi later once the roads here have dried up.

Nice #s! I wonder how much more hp your motor would put down with a slightly more aggressive tune. Are you putting the power down through the T-5 BW, or Nissan B tranny? Just wondering what transmission you're using.

Hi, welcome to the forums. There are plenty of threads about this in the archives, but since I'm assuming English isn't your first language, I'll try to help you out. When you mention exhaust, are you talking about the header (exhaust manifold), or the piping to the muffler. The '83 motor is a bolt in swap, so any standard 240Z exhaust system should work. All you need is a header that matches the exhaust ports of the head you have and it "should" work. I'm turbo and not naturally aspirated, but hopefully someone else can chime in to help you out more.

Plate #, style of wheels? More specific visuals will help, but I'm in the SD area so I'll keep an eye out for your friend's FC. I hope it doesn't get stripped like my friend's 240sx did.

Looks like the rare LY head. I believe the engine is an LY26?

Well I've been on this board forever, but I don't think I've posted pics of my zx yet. It's been through several changes, mostly dealing with the wheel/tire combo (thanks to the giant potholes that appear on the freeways after the rain here in Cali, I15->I8 merger FTL). Here's the current setup: I just got my Z back up and running after blowing a headgasket back in April. I'm so glad to be driving my Z again rather than the 510!

I ran the wires from the ECU to the coil. I believe that's the problem you're having. Blobber, you're welcome and good luck with the swap!

stalling when pressing the throttle quickly
lifegrddude replied to abe280z's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Check for vacuum leaks first. I would also check your sensors' connectors as well like the TPS and CHTS, and also at the ecu itself. I ran a t3/to4B (it's the smaller of the t3 hybrids) for a short while on the stock efi, and at low boost, it wasn't a problem. You don't need the Vortech 12:1 as you'll run insanely rich under boost. A set of SVO injectors with a little tweaking of the AFM should allow you to run 10 psi. Just make sure your fuel pump is healthy, or upgrade it to the Walbro as it's not too expensive. -
Haha, my bad, it was supposed to say 110! Yeah, I wish I could support that much boost.

Blobber, here's the pic of the dizzy wheel in the correct orientation. Sorry for the dim pic, it was getting dark and I only had my cell phone as a camera.

Here's my current setup, and I don't know the hp yet, but I will soon: Engine: Stock L28et with 135K miles, 1mm HKS headgasket, ARP head studs. Turbo: Turbonetics T3/TO4B unknown specs with what I believe is a stage 1 wheel in a .63 housing, 38mm TiAL wastegate, Vildini Motorsports 3" downpipe, 2 1/2-3" exhaust from the catalytic back. (this will change to a full 3" soon), Spearco I/C with 2.5" piping, 60mm tb, JSK tb spacer. Ecu/fuel: JWT 4 Bar program, '93 Cobra maf, '75 450 SEL Benz injectors, Pallnet fuel rail, Sard FPR, Walbro pump, Crane Cams Hi-6 ignition box and MSD coil, AEM wideband o2, Trust Profec B boost controller. Max boost is set 110 kPA which is ~16psi. Daily driven it's set at 9-12 psi depending on road conditions. Octane used is 91.

Sorry for the delay, I will check it tonight after I get off of work.

Hey man, it's a been a while hasn't it? Hope things are good for you out in the islands. Could be the ignition switch itself. I had to change mine out last week as a matter of fact.
-
If you haven't tried already, I'll check my dizzy this weekend and let you know which way is which.

This is mainly a Datsun/Nissan oriented board so not many of us have experience with Honda/Acuras. Also, punctuation would go a long way in making your point easier to read. Anyway, I'd skip the ebay turbo kits for the most part, it's kind of a you get what you pay for. Why not buy a kit from Greddy, Apex'i, Edlebrock, Turbonetics or DRAG? They all make B-series turbo kits which are reputable.

Thanks for the link, lots of great info in that thread!

Thanks for the input Mom'sZ, I appreciate it! I go ahead and set my light to 15 psi. I hope I never see it come on during a hot lap!

Since I plan to take my 280zxt out to a couple of HPDE days next year starting in the spring, I figure I'd upgrade my gauges as well. I'm picking up some gauges with the warning light feature on them. My question is at what psi do you all recommend I set the warning light to trigger at for oil pressure? I was thinking 15 psi? Or is that too low? Also, what would you recommend for water temp and oil temp? I don't have too much experience with track days, only the occassional autocross or drag strip test and tune which really doesn't stress your cooling or oil temps too much for a street car. Any input is appreciated! Thanks.
