  1. I used a 240sx test pipe before and it was ~1" shorter than the factory catalytic, but the exhaust can be moved a bit to compensate. I didn't have any problems with it. Now I'm just using a 3" cat.
  2. You can have cylinder wash happen from the overloading of fuel. Many of the guys who go to the shows and use their flame thrower kits change their oil right after the show.
  3. Yeah, my gf's area had a few tremors shortly after the initial big one hit, but thankfully nothing bad happened to her or my parents. I'm glad you're safe too Corzette. I do hope everyone else out there is ok as well. 6.8 isn't anything to sneeze at, I don't see how you can try to say it isn't. That's like saying a hurricane isn't that bad just because it's not a category 3 or higher.
  4. Have fun over there! I miss Okinawa a lot! I was there from '89-'99 and loved every minute of it. Well maybe not the typhoons, but everything else was great!
  5. Your exhaust is going to be louder no doubt, but other than that, you'll pick up a few extra ponies from the reduced back pressure. However I have heard the SRT-4 ecu is aggressive at pulling boost and/or timing if it detects a noticeable change in back pressure since the boost can spike a bit higher, so it might be best to ask guys specific to your vehicle.
  6. I used an S-AFC II for a while, but I used ballpark figures from an equation for my fuel. It was definitely on the rich side of things. Anyway, I think in order to use the unit properly, you have to have an ignition retard module as well. I used an MSD BTM with the SAFC and had it running well enough to get my Z down to a low 14 second 1/4 mile, but I'm sure I could have cracked 13's had I used a wideband to fine tune the fuel up top. Btw, this was on an '84 Z31T ecu on a 280zx. I now use an ecu tuned by Bernardd. The 240sx forums are where I got most of my info on the SAFC.
  7. That looks like an outlet for the T25 off of a 300zx turbo.
  8. I'm John and I'm in San Diego as well. I went to one meet in H. Beach about a year or two ago, and I'm down to meet up again now that my Z is actually running.
  9. Wow Miles, you're getting an early start! I'll probably be taking off from my house around 7 am and going a leisurely pace the whole way up. (3 spd. a/t sucks!) Anyway, see you all there! My zx will be pretty easy to spot. It'll have mismatched wheels, misc door dings and scratches from school, and a Japanese new driver emblem in the front windshield with an Okinawa license plate Y .619.
  10. Miles, yeah it's been a while since I've talked to you. I think the last time we talked, your Z was primered and you just got the CF parts! Anyway, if anyone wants to meet up at the Q or anywhere else, I'll be happy to. I'm going to try to make it out to the racelegal events more often, even if I just spectate.
  11. What's up, I'm in SD as well. Right off Penasquitos Blvd/Poway Rd's exit. I haven't seen too many older Z's lately. I used to see 280zx's like mine all the time, but even those are getting to be a once a month kinda thing. I'd be willing to meet up to hang out for a few. Does anyone here go to the Fusion cafe car meets? It's generally a younger crowd (late teens early 20's) that go and any make/model show up to talk about cars.
  12. Wow, that sucker is huge! Looks great man, how big are the inlets? 2.5"?
  13. That's almost right down the street from me. (I'm in PQ) I'll keep an eye out for your Z. Most likely it's down south in Chula Vista or National City. That's where my friend's 240z ended up. I hope you get her back, low life scums suck.
  14. Chris, yeah I remember Mizugama, and Aja along with Henza for the racing. It was kinda nice seeing the old Fairladys run too. I think that's what got me started into them! I kinda wish I had taken a video of that RSR sponsored Cappuccino that would regularly hang with the GTRs for a 1/4 mile before falling behind. 660cc engine and 200 hp was very impressive!
  15. Nothing too special in the video clip. A couple of turbocharged cars, that's all! Just thought I'd post a link since there is one run of an S30 vs a Hakosuka in it. I thought the mini K-van at the end was kinda funny. Reminded me of my old days back in high school in Okinawa. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-bsCOfxT2Ac&mode=related&search=
  16. Check for vacuum leaks as well. When my Z had a leak (granted it's a turbo, but it might be the same problem) I had to feather the throttle to keep it from stalling. Turned out I had a hairline crack in one of the vacuum lines.
  17. It's in Orange, Ca near Motorsport Auto's store. Can't remember the exact location off hand. http://www.zcarparts.com should have the site listed.
  18. That Civic was featured in a Sport Compact Car issue a while back. (last year I think) It made ~245 hp at the wheels and somewhere near 190 lb/ft of torque which isn't too bad for a 1.6L SOHC motor. Not earth shattering, but quick enough to surprise quite a few people given that car's approximate curb weight of 2400 lbs. I give the owner a lot of credit as the casual observer would probably over see a lot of the modifications at first glance. As for the blow off valve, you can just tighten the preload spring to keep it from venting under light throttle conditions, or disconnect the vacuum signal line. As long as you stay light on the throttle, you won't get audible compressor surge.
  19. Nice vid! Can't wait to see what will happen when the boost gets cranked up.
  20. I don't how much this can help you, but on the SRT-4 forums, there is a member who is familiar with insurance laws in California. Maybe he can help you out. Here's a link to his thread. Basically he encourages anyone with questions to hit him up. http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87970 Good luck with the insurance settlement. John
  21. Hey you'll have fun here at SDSU! It's a good school. What's your major? I'm on my last semester here, but anyway congrats on the acceptance!
  22. Not much to my page, but here it is: http://www.myspace.com/851330
  23. Welcome to forums and wow, that's a clean ZX.
  24. Double check the chopper wheel in the distributor to see if it's flipped backwards. Also, recheck the maf wiring too. Those are the only things I can think of that might be the source of your problem. Good luck.
