  1. I love Motorsport Auto! I have spent over $4 grand with them. I also like Victoria British stuff but they do not offer the V-8 stuff. I have their motor mount kit for my 280 and love it!
  2. Get ready because somebody will reccomend that you get a shop manual and the JTR manual...like I said get ready because someone will say it mark my words...it will happen...eventually
  3. It did not clear the 15 inch 1991 factory 240SX rims that I have. It wasn't the front of the caliper that scrubbed it was the top. In other words I just couldn't fit a couple of washers on the hub and make it clear the caliper. It was the diameter of the wheel that was the problem. The wheel went on the car fine, however, when I spun the tire it was growling and scrubbing so I took it back off. It had scratched away all the pretty blue paint that you see in the pic below. It did not matter to me because those wheels were only going to be on my Z while it sat in the garage waiting on the V-8 to be installed. They were some that I had laying around from my wife's old 240SX. By the way the 300ZX stuff looks awesome!
  4. Yeah the cutting off of the old brake backing plate is the most tedius thing about the swap. Yep bigger rotors wouldn't be better in my opinion. I mean damn the 300ZX rotors that come with the kit make it impossible to run a 15" wheel already! Besides they look great on the car why would you want anything bigger?
  5. Yep there is also money money and more money to dump into a car that just sits in my garage and hasn't seen the street in about 3 to 4 years! Quite frankly all my friends, my boss and the wife are probably tired of hearing about how awesome the Z will be and would like to see it move! (WIthout me pushing it)
  6. My god! Yet another problem I guess I will encounter when the time comes! I am starting to get that ole frustrated feeling about this project. I may wind up junking what I have and starting over with an older Camaro or Mustang. Jeesh everyday I learn of some new grimlin in the V-8 Z project.
  7. You should never go 3000 miles away to find a car! How stupid can one person be? There are lemons right in your own back yard that you can waste your money on. There were enough red flags thrown up upon the intitial inspection of this heap to make him go back home without it.
  8. The factory offset isn't 0% though is it? I ordered the Panasport 16x7 wheel and will also be running the Yokohamas in the 225/50 series. The Panasports should have the correct offset for the Z. Which I don't know what that offset is
  9. You know, this would be a great place to put a fiberglass piece Some of you guys who are good with fabbing stuff should get busy. This is/was one of the areas that my Z had rust. Anyone ever thought of doing a fiberglass piece for this location?
  10. Gotcha, I will cut them off before I let the car down off the jack stands. I oredered some Panasport 16x7 wheels and Yokahama 225/50's today so I will get rid of them little rascals before I put the new rubber on. Thanks
  11. Yes Jay unfortunately I have seen way too many people dead or dying in these exact kinds of situations.
  12. Most cops like to track down hit and run drivers. However MOST people think that THIER problem is the only problem that a cop has to work on or should be concerned with! I was almost got killed by friendly fire on Friday night by a Georgia State Patrol Trooper! He was involved in a chase and pitted the vehicle as they came up behind my traffic stop location. No we did not get an advanced warning that the chase was about to enter our jurisdiction. Anyway after the trooper spun the car, he attempted to rush in and get the guy out of the car. The guy floored it running over the troopers foot in the process. Well the trooper opened up on the guy and emptied his magazine (15 rounds) down range. Myself and my rookie (trainee) were sitting ducks! Bullets were flying everywhere. So get off the cops backs, most people would not think of doing our job but are oh so quick to criticize us for not seeming to be enthusiastic on a hit and run investigation. By the way, I have in my glove box in my patrol car a side marker lens from an early 80's model Chevrolet Cavalier that committed a hit and run accident two weeks ago. Everytime a blue cavalier passes me while I am on patrol I look to see if it has the broken side markers. So don't tell me we aren't smart enough or don't care because we do!
  13. Are you talking about the L bracket that you can see in my picture? Or the one down low near the stub axel? I removed the one down low it was bolted on. The one in the pic doesn't come close to the ebarake function unless I have done something wrong.
  14. Davy, I used high temp engine enamel (ford blue) I got an email from Ross and he suggested 16x7 inch rims with 225/50/16's tires.
  15. Yep I noticed that you live in FL, if it is anything like GA of late all we have had is rain rain and more rain! I think that someone said once that the earth would never again be destroyed by rain...hmmm I guess he did not include the state of GA! I think that I will start building a hybrid arch and load at least two of every Z car that was ever made lol
  16. Mine has been sitting idle for so long sometimes I just sit inside the cockpit and dream about tearing up a long winding country road as the wind blows through the open windows hearing the sound of the throaty V-8 watching the on lookers gasping at the site of my awesome Z beast!...sigh...as I sit inside my garage in a car with no engine or dash or gages or.....
  17. More pics of the swap http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid66/p458bcb8b0a6879ee588a653e3a45ce52/fbe2162f.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid66/p39fb28495e11562188f3b6ad8c2975b0/fbe21631.jpg
  18. Go to http://www.modern-motorsports.com You will see the rear brake package there to do the 240SX caliper swap.
  19. hehe I'm only 5'6" so I cant help you on this one.
  20. Yes I have the stock 240SX calipers but remember the disks are from a 300ZX. So I would imagine that the stock 240SX calipers are in a little bit different place than would be found on a stock 240SX. Did that make any sense? Anyhow, I'm sure that Ross will be able to tell me what to do, I just thought that some of you folks had done this set up and had a little experience in getting the right wheel size. I think I may be going the Panasport rout myself.
  21. Make sure you wear a rain coat just kidding, I hope you find the problem.
