Makes me glad I'm coming by rte 360 -
Image is gone. Anyone grab it first, or is the gross misspelling the punchline?

If only I knew I had a HybridZer shop right there! Right now my 280z's in a shop on the corner of 360 and Green Oaks not ten minutes away! -
Anyone remember Motor City Online?

It's just a few more steps until Anonymous becomes self-aware... -
Cruisin' down the street in my 3-fo' -or- "They see me rollin They hatin..."

Come to think of it... My 280z also came with the dashpad that wasn't taped down anymore, so whenever I launched it, the pad would come off the dash and hit the little tab for the headlights, turning them off. This would happen every time. It even got me pulled over once. The cop was pissed that I didn't notice until she was passing and I looked reflexively at my speedo. I was in a very well-lit downtown area and, let's face it, the gauges aren't really all that bright to begin with!

Wow. My face actually hurts from laughing!

I didn't think a lighter story would stay up this long! I was really hoping for others to contribute wacky high jinks that theirs cars have pulled on them. Any takers?

I do the same thing now, no matter what car I'm in. Everyone just thinks I'm impatient!

Has this happened to anyone else? When I first got my 280z, I was driving it back to my house when I decided to light one up. After about a minute of looking for it, I found the car's lighter (it was hidden behind the steering wheel:)). I push it in, get out a cigarette, and wait for the lighter to click out. My car decided that would be too boring, however, and proceeded to spit the freshly heated lighter into the crotch-seat area we all know and love. Being like every other guy who wants to have kids someday (maybe), I immediately did the smartest thing I could think of: standing up with my feet firmly planted on the clutch and gas pedals. Realizing the idiocy of doing this in L.A. rush hour traffic, I steeled myself for the inevitable and sat back down on the seat where the lighter had rolled to the back. Thankfully, I avoided a scar once the burn healed, but not the inevitable laughter of my then-girlfriend when we got home. But yeah, anyone else? We already have a "D'oh!" moments thread, but maybe this can be a "non-fault accident" thread.

Blizzard is known for making lots of pop culture references...

WoW was my gateway drug to EVE Online. Years before, however, was UO. That sucked up my highschool years! -
BTW, fphtom. How exactly can you be proactive about law enforcement? That would be like a tech-support center that calls you when you appliances are about to fail. Law enforcement is in its very nature meant to be reactive.

Brake-checking's never really given me any sort of pleasure. If I see someone coming up in the fast lane, I get out of their way (usually by accelerating), knowing how annoying it is when I'm the guy in a hurry and someone is being a pretentious douche. Every once in a while, however, I'm alone with another car behind me at the light and, when the light turns green, he immediately hits his horn. There are other situations where I feel my upcoming behavior is warranted, but this happened the other day. I moved forward a couple feet, then stopped. Six inches off my bumper, this guy is fuming. I then roll down the window, light a smoke, then give him a "what do you think of that?" look in the rearview. Then I usually just leave. Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Very well, M4xwell. I'll concede the crown...for now...

I think I might be the biggest fanboi here. Submitted for your (dis)approval: Tenchi Muyo Series (all) Gundam Series (all) Cowboy Bebop (plus movie) Outlaw Star Berserk (even if you don"t watch it, get the outtakes!) Akira Ninja Scroll Orphen Series Initial D (plus movie) Full Metal Alchemist Full Metal Panic! Please Teacher! Oh My Goddess! X (the movie) Serial Experiments Lain (what a mindf**k!) And that's just what's on my harddrives!

Amazing tech...keep it non-political PLEASE

Woldsen: Although I think I'm on the same side as your views, I have to disagree with your sentiment regarding this. Like Spotfitz says, it's on public property in plain view. It's not protected by the 4th Amend. EDIT: Also, I think we're toeing the political no-no line... -

I think this is an excellent piece of technology that will make many people keep their collective noses clean! That said, there are some concerns: 1) LEO's may get a bit lazy. LEO's may simply pass on a verbal report and assume the suspect will caught by someone else down the road. If the scanner is only updated once a day, a vehicle that is stolen may have up to 24 hours to get gone. 2) The biggest flaw in any technical or security system: The human factor. The system's continued operating success is dependent on many compartments' accuracy. A typo by the programmer, dispatcher, underpaid data entry person or a false witness statement would result in somebody else getting the warrant. Also if any of the above accidentally mixes up two vehicles of a long list of updates (especially at the end of 3rd shift, the update time). This rolls into the next thought. 3)The system will have a reputation of infallibility and, once established, will be considered probable cause for a vehicle to be searched, detained, et cetera. This already happens today where you see somebody accused of something and believe them to be guilty simply because they were accused. This is also known as the "Where there's smoke, there's fire" mentality. 4) It can easily be thwarted using low-tech means. Swapping the plates with "known-good" plates from a similar make and model and removing the plates entirely spring to mind. Before I get flamed: Just to reiterate, I think it's a good example of law enforcement technology and fully support its use! These concerns are simply that! This is only my opinion based on years of working with military, gov, and LEO types. -
A local performance shop owner struck a deal with a movie theatre to have a private viewing of The Fast and the Furious 4 on April 2nd, 11pm. There are 200 available seats at 8 bucks a pop, and payment can be no later than 11:59pm March 29th. To reiterate: Tickets $8 Location: Arlington, TX Available seats: 200 Time: 11pm-2am Locals are preferred because it would make the logistics that much easier. PM for payment details. Also, this isn't for any profit.

This is something that's bugged me for a couple months now. Companies are now paying ISP's for sniffing traffic. The system was originally intended for catching "terrorists". [Edited: sounded to political *cough*Patriot Act*cough*

I know it seems like I'm pushing hard about this, but... The first is stock, and the second is lightly modded.
