  1. I have so much going on, but i must say this is my favorite project of them all. First i have the complete engine/trans build up going on my 90 2+2, then i have the TT swap going on in my ladys 90 2 seater, than i have the v8 280zx starting up soon, and a few other things like home projects (new windows, paint, etc). Today the Lincoln got a rinse off and got ready to go. The tow truck came and took her to the shop. Heres a little of whats being done while shes gone: gas tank replenished fuel lines replaced steering column replaced ignition switch replaced (key switch) brake power booster brake master cylinder brake wheel cylinders brake shoes When the mechanical stuff is done and she is able to run and stop on her own power, she goes next door for: Paint strip body build and prep new paint When she is done with the body shop, she goes next door to the upholstery shop for: new carpet new top seat cleaning and repadding (maybe seat reupholster) After that, she gets new gangster white wall tires. Updates as the car progresses.
  2. Its kind of biased to recommend the place that you live, isnt it?
  3. Smog is no problem. I can follow requirements.
  4. John, The only place in the country that is not too hot and not too cold is Southern California. All other places have major weather issues each year. I would recommend Utah or Colorado. Ive been looking at houses and attending open houses for 2 years now. The prices are very good and you can get a large chunk of land for a reasonable price. You also have access to http://www.millermotorsportspark.com just right outside Salt Lake City. Being in Utah, all other tracks on the west coast and southwest are just 1/2 day drive.
  5. I listed some planned mods in the first post. It sounds like a new water pump is needed, but thats easy. Ill be running dual electric fans. Ill be keeping the stock headers and running those into a single 3" mandrel pipe split into 2-2" pipes after the rear suspension with flowmaster mufflers. I think im going with a fuel cell if i do the split exhaust after the rear suspension. If all goes well, i know it could be overkill, but i plan on a 6psi Powerdyne s/c kit. The Mustang will be in storage for the next week at least. Im hoping to get started on dismantling the stang in the next 3 weeks at the latest. Things are going according to schedule so far, so it looks good.
  6. Dude, you have no idea. We laughed so much when my friend was giving us the rundown on the electrical on this stang. Ill have to make a mental list on whats wrong and tell you later. Extra laughs coming up!
  7. Its looking great Justin! Ive enjoyed all those late night hangouts at your house where you brought all the parts out to show us. Note to HybridZ members: Justin was so excited about his digital gauges, he brought a car battery in from the garage and placed it on the family dining room table to show us how they lit up. LOL. Its been nice to witness this beautiful z coming together the way it has.
  8. Well i finally picked up the '89 LX 5.0 tonight. Im right on schedule with my v8 plans. This baby has some major balls. 1st and 2nd gear are brutal, the acceleration is amazing. The clutch is toast too. I can only wonder what it does with a good clutch and some intake/exhaust mods. The 280zx SBF kits are one step closer to being produced. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106398 Mods to be done after swap: Explorer GT40 or AR aluminum heads gt40 lower and upper plenum OR Trick Flow Street manifolds TB or just a complete Trick Flow head/manifold/tb setup. of course as $ permits http://www.trickflow.com/product/enginekits/pr_enginekits.asp# Flowmaster of course for its awesome sound on the 5.0 Trans is getting a Ford Motorsport clutch, and a Steeda Sport Shifter (PN#418-7475)
  9. I went through a full week of their so called "training". They lied to me from the start. There was an ad in the paper for call center employees, date/time/location, etc. I showed up at this seminar and they kind of talked me into staying with free lunches and a paycheck for being there a week. They expect you to buy a knife set as your demo. The only appointments you will have are through family and friends. You will make a complete *** of yourself. Dont do it. You may book several appointments at first, but you will eventually book none. All said and done, they sold YOU a knife set. I was asked to leave the class after gathering a group of people to walk out with me. I left with 22 people. The program is complete bs.
  10. The 89 5.0 is ready for me to pick up. My buddy just picked up his new WRX last night. I have to get some things moved around and some things settled then i will be going up to Simi Valley and picking up the Mustang. Thats all i can say for now, its major progress. Ive been waiting for him to get his new car.
  11. Nismo jacket up on the wall there
  12. I couldnt believe the USC guys up in the box not calling the challenge on that knee down touchdown early in the game. ABC tv guys were even zooming in on the guys up in the box wondering when they were going to say something. The field officials were supposed to review it as well, and it went completely ignored!!! I saw a lot of faults tonight on both teams. They are the best teams, only one can walk away with the championship. Too bad Texas fans cannot be as respectful as USC fans. There was a battery chucking incident toward a USC fan AFTER the game, which caused in the loss of an eye, and the Texas fans were running around like they dominated USC, even though they were lucky enough to walk away just barely breathing.
  13. Ive been watching that car for the past 3-4 years. Im excited now that its out.
  14. I believe your reply violates this HybridZ policy. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102895 I take offense to that somehow..
  15. What a game! 31-28 right now.
  16. Those are some nice points and suggestions Sparky. Ill try to snap some shots next time i have the car in the air. The nuts and end of the stud come nowhere near being closer to the ground than the bottom of the frame rail. If anything i would think the frame rail and rocker panel would hit the ground before the hardware would. I was concerned about things getting caught on road debris when i first put everything together. zfan, did you decide on a solution?
  17. So if they are ready to make the gauges, does this mean if 280zx 130mph stuff was sent to them that they can get those done too?
  18. Ive removed the original floor mounts in my 79 on the drivers side. Im 6'2"-6'3" and by mounting the seat directly to the floor ive gained much headroom and i sit lower in the car. I put studs in the seat, drilled the floorpan where the studs would go through, and used 4 1/2" steel plates w/large washer and 2 nuts on the underside of the car to prevent the seat being ripped out of the floorboard in the event of an impact or rollover. The plates measure 1/2" thick, 5" length, 5" width.
  19. Oh goody a 5.0 swap! Go to the album and upload your pics to the members galleries.
  20. Ive always wanted those, but i have the 130mph speedo. I emailed the seller and asked him we could get the 130mph speedo kits.
