I am a POTN member and i dont see anything negative about the Datsun on there.

1 trashed 240. Over the past few years i havent seen many z's in the yards. I used to pickup all kinds of parts for my zx's, but ive been buying new parts because i cant find them in the yards anymore. Its about that time the zx's are hard to find parts for like older z's. I forgot to mention there were a lot of Infiniti J30 cars there as well complete with manifolds, etc (vg30de).

Right now at the 2 Wilimington Pick Your Parts, there are at least 15 Q45's unmolested to mildy picked (no throttle body, etc). Every Q45 i saw today still have their engines and their differentials and halfshafts. There are at least 10 240sx's, im not sure how many dont have throttle bodies. If you are in Socal, get there fast! Pick Your Part doesnt hold cars out on the lot very long. There is also 1 z32 with complete n/a motor and diff, and a ton of z31's.

Same stickers on the fenders, same seats, same 1/4 panel window stickers, same white thing in the rear view mirror location on the windsheild....yeah im sure its the same car, just different in different stages of its life.

The swap was a little difficult only because it took me all night. I had to run to the parts store to get a thinner belt. When i got home, the alternator wouldnt move close enough to the block to fit the belt because the lower coolant inlet bolt was in the way. All i did was grind the stock alternator bracket down to fit the lower mounting ear on the GM alt. I ran a 4g wire from the alternator to the + terminal on the starter. The alternator is a little crooked due to my lame mounting job. Ill be working on a new bracket this week if anyone is interested. The car ran stronger than ever at 14v on the voltmeter, and there was problem running all the lights and my stereo.

Well i made it to my ladys moms to work on the car. Bad thing is, i jinxed myself! It wouldnt be hybridz if crap like this didnt happen. 8)

Im up early to charge the battery and get the Z about 15 miles to my lady's moms house so i can work on it. Lets hope i dont have to call AAA I have a feeling this swap is only going to take about an hour or so. Does anyone have any recommendations on what gauge wire i should run from the alternator to the battery?

That doesnt sound like any upper end problem to me. It sounds more like a rod knock than anything.

My zx has the same power steering box. Ill be copycatting s30's ideas s30 you have a pm btw.

It should depend on what county you live in, and if they require smog or not. Carb for ease, f/i for smog.

Its way hotter where Van is. Ive been waiting for this heat to die down to do the GM alternator conversion on my 280zx, and install shocks on the Expedition. By the time this heat dies down, the ford 302 mounts will be ready and this alternator will be useless to me But that may be a good thing.

A little off topic here. I go play some online games with some guys i used to play with a while back when i was 21 or so. You just know when the kids are out for vacation because you constantly get team killed on purpose, people spam the chat with stupid crap, mic spamming. etc. The day they all go back to school, now thats some good gaming, and you can seriously tell the difference!

Its pretty nice at 82* today. Too bad i let the lady take the truck or else i would be over at the garage working on the cars. Im always damned if i do, damned if i dont. I plan on getting some car work done tommorow, watch it be 90+ again argggg.
