  1. Typical Japanese style...Not uncommon back there. I've got an '82 USDM slicktop coupe. How rare are they?
  2. I drive my 82 ZX everyday, 246,000 miles on it...no complaints.
  3. You can get R200 4.08 gears from a 240SX a bit easier...
  4. Wouldn't ceramic coating (IE Jet Hot) the turbo manifold/header alleviate the need for the heat shields though?
  5. I'm 6'5" & I fit fine in both my 240Z & my 280ZX...stock seats in both.
  6. The search noob answer is not a good way to keep people sticking around. While I GREATLY appreciate any help, I didn't appreciate the snide comments that TonyD posted on both the forums I asked this on. The reason I asked is I already searched & didn't find the answer I was looking for. The shipping company wanted $1000 initially to pick up at the seller's house & drop off at the terminal here for a 500 pound item. That price was a lot less going from a business address, and was a hair over $500 for a 300 pound item. I just need to be accurate so I don't get screwed with these crooks!
  7. BS, somebody else obviously has no reading comprehension. Show me anything on that page that says L28ET? Not an L24E with carbs...Thanks for the "help".
  8. I bought an L28ET to swap into my '82 slicktop. I'm trying to arrange the shipping (painful & expensive!) and need to know how much the engine weighs (approximately). Engine with accessories, intake, turbo, ecu, engine wiring harness. No tranny, no flywheel or clutch. To those who have shipped engines before, who did you use & how much did it cost you? Trying to ship from Atlanta to Albuquerque.
  9. RPS Clutch FTW...if you want to stick to a single disk type.
  10. Knock on wood...I've never been pulled over in my '82 ZX. I was screwing around the other day with a friend in a 240SX with an SR & we both blew past a cop doing some spirited driving...slowed it down, he didn't care. Hope my luck holds out! I've been on the receiving end of a lot of harrassment when I was younger. Now that I'm 35, I don't seem to have many problems. Haven't had a ticket in 7 years...thank God!
  11. Royal Purple still meets all the code requirements for solid lifter cars. That's what I use.
  12. BTW, if you blow up an RB20 tranny, you can use the guts from an SR or KA24DE tranny to replace the blown one, just have to switch the cases.
  13. Great idea! It is EXTREMELY frustrating trying to find ZX specific info, when most of these sites are inundated with only S30 stuff...For example a decent 5-lug conversion writeup for ZX's, or how to properly wire in an L28ET into an N/A ZX...Keep up the great work!
  14. Damn! I want an engine just like that in my 280! Awesome job! I am astounded at the superb craftsmanship & dedication you've put into this project!
  15. Just out of curiousity, would it be bad to have a normal EFI high pressure pump filling the surge tank & another one (slightly more powerful) after the surge tank? My application is a 240SX (sorry, my 280ZX is stock for now!) with a VERY modified SR20DET & I'm not comfortable using only one pump at the high altitude I live in now (~5500 feet) with the crappy 91 octane they serve up as premium here. I'm currently using a Z32TT fuel pump & am afraid to push the car hard (has previously made 522 rwhp back in Okinawa with a single Walbro 255L pump).
  16. The S15 6-speed (SR) isn't what you think it is...it's actually weaker than the 5 speed it replaced & the 6th gear is the same ratio as 5th in the older 5-speeds, very close to the ZX 5th gear, so not worth it really, other than having the close ratio nature of the 6-speed. You'll just be shifting more with it...
  17. I couldn't work the clutch pedal...the car's just too small for me (6'5")...my knee would hit the steering wheel everytime I had to shift. It might be do-able for me with an auto, but I'd never own an auto equipped sportscar!
  18. Real people can actually fit in a Miata? I know I can't! Why not a 240SX...plenty of aftermarket & stock ones are cheap. Easy to work on...
  19. Doesn't Tomei make one already?
  20. The 86 5.0 HO has some of the poorest desiged heads that came on any Mustang. You'd get a bit better performance swapping in stock E7's from an 87-95...keep in mind the 86 has flat top pistons with minimal clearance if you want to go with aftermarket heads or bigger cam, they'll need to be flycut.
  21. Should be fine...I ran 18x9.5 rear & 17x8.5 fronts on my old Z32...
  22. Keep it coming! Excellent work!
