  1. Finally getting the engine in place. It looks like the firewall is only going to need to be set back a couple of inches. Woo Hoo!!!! :)
  2. Of course I haven't forgotten that. But when the finsterhoople grappler disengages, the ulterior sludge cannister changes the nonspecific gravity according to the formula of 3x(983 +.0025%+/-4 degrees absolute) I'm at, 1/2 wits end, I rechecked the anular distortion of the lower dingle arm and have conmfirmed that the preconsistant deainage isn't suffering from uneven lip heft.
  3. Good to see you doing another project. After you got out of jail I thought you had given up on Z's. Then a while back I saw you posting again. Don't get up to speed too fast, I don't want to be the only one who is totally old school. Your progress on your ZX is great.
  4. Don't use gasoline to try and clean out your tank! When I moved the filler on my gas tank, I took it to a reputable local radiator shop and had it cleaned in the tank used to boil out radiators. I left it overnight. When I got it back it was clean enough to weld on. It was an inexpensive way and a much safer way than tryintg to do it myself.
  5. Soes anyone know where I can buy parts for my dual VanBergen power coupling? The bilge stator is competly stripped, and I can no ,longer adjust for negitave scim.
  6. I agree with all that has been said. However, I think that some ask rather vague questions. I am probably guilty of this myself. I feel that many do not try to figure what to do, but ask inane questions because it is more convenient to have someone else solve a problem than to figure it out them selves. I guess what I am trying to say is there should be three steps: First is hands on (test that switch,/ inspect those half shafts). Second, get out the manual and research on your own. Third, when you are at wits end SEARCH the archives then post your question. Getting back to the subject of this thread, don't answer questions about a vehicle that you don't have any experience with. For instance I admit to knowing almost nothing about Zs except the Z31. So I try not to post answers to problems other than those I have had experience with.
  7. I've had a set for quite a while, and have nothing bad to say about them. I got mine because they will hold a car high eonugh to pull an automatic transmission.
  8. I agree, its hard to put up with posts that can't be read. I'm a knuckle dragging truck driver but at least I proofread and edit my own stuff. But then I guess some people just don't give a shift.
  9. There's never a cop around when you need one. You should drive a truck and see the stupid s**t that the great unwashed masses do at 70 miles an hur in traffic!
  10. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do to change the look of a Z31? I have a Kaminari airdam, and that helps a little. I'm building a cowl induction for the hood, filling everything but the door handles, and rolling the rear pan. but it still looks like every other one you see.
  11. A few years ago I got to fly from Medford OR to Eugene OR in the Confederate Air Force's B-17 "Sentimental Journey" whenI waws working for a local TV station. Greatest flight I have ever taken. I shot the landing in Beta SP (for the station) from the bombadiers seat. Somewhere around here I have two albums of pics of the Collings planes. I'll post a few if I can find them.
  12. Neat idea. You don't need to know what a guage is reading, you just need to remember where the needle is supposed to be. If it isn't in the right spot, look at it more closley.
  13. Way to go! I admit that its easier to farm out stuff than to suffer through the trial and error learning curve. But personaly I get a lot more satisfaction from knowing that I did a project than I have ever gotten from writing a check.
  14. Replacing the line with 3/8 will do wonders for you. I run a holley red pump and haven't had any problems.
  15. Did you call around to any other machine shops? You might also try automatic transmission repair shops Where I used to work they had a really good power parts washer.
  16. Simple Green then pressure wash will do pretty well.
  17. This is the cowl induction scoop and the paper pattern for the hood. I hope to weld it on this weekend.
  18. The rear suspension is coming along. It is taking a long time because designing and fabricating are slow. Wepecially if you don't want to have to go back and do it twice. The front suspension(1) is finally up on the jig, and the rear suspension and spring mounts are tacked together.(2) Nothin' gets permenantly welded until everything fits. Here are my favorite toys in the garage: The Lincoln Precision Tig 185 and the Esab MigMatic (3) the Miller 35 wirefeed and the Esab plasma cutter (4) the fifth picture is of the homemade suspension link.
  19. I had to remove the heater from my '84 to move the firewall. It is a PITA but nothing that can't be done. Here is an idea of what is involved: First drain the water and evacuate the air conditioner then remove the hoses. Then remove the dash. I found instructions for removing the dash at z31.com. Unplug the wiring harnes and vacuum lines (Remember where they go) Next remove all the air and defroster ducts then you can pull the heater assembly out. If you take a LOT of pictures, and draw a lot of diagrams as you go it will make the process a whole lot easier.
  20. I came across this Z at the local dragstrip a while back.
  21. Here are a few pics of the exhaust system and the motor mounts. I'm n my laptop right now and cant find the folder with all the pics. There may be a few more in my gallery. I'll try to get around to posting a build thread in the Z31 sub forum
  22. A sbc will slip right in. there is tons of room for it
