  1. Man, that was scary. I thought something had happened to your Z.
  2. That is a beautiful car. I can only wish that my engine comapartment would look one tenth as good! There is one thing though.... You said, "I did all the work, with the exception of engine machine work , in my home garage." Now I feel even more inadequate;)
  3. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. and like Alf said, a chevy will fit in really easy. Just don't expect to find any aftermarket parts for it.
  4. Check and see if there is a switch on the clutch pedal linkage. My z31 had a switch that would only let the car start if the switch was closed.
  5. Too bad you live so far away, I've got a 5 spd but I don't think it would fit its off a vg30.
  6. That show was called "The Prisoner" Ity stared Patric McGoohan. He had a series before where he played a spy, it was called "Secret Agent" (I think)
  7. I dunno, the engine and tranny sit pretty much behind the axel, I wonder if it has a tendency to be squirley. but those big engines do make a ton of power. check this out for a clean installation. http://www.geocities.com/chevadoracing/index.html
  8. Praise the Lord, or is it Pass the lard?
  9. Damn, and they let these guys own guns, Once more we have proof that brothers and sisters shouldn't be allowed to marry.
  10. Man that is one scary car. Morgans have a real strange front suspension.
  11. Welcome to Hybrid Z. This is the best place that you could have come for info. I have an '84, with a 355 and a 350TH. Unless the tranny is weak, it should take all you are gonna give it. If you are going to change you might want to consider a 200R4 The only reason is because the 350 is a direct drive and Z31's are geared a little low. Any questions you have just get ahold of Alf or me. Good looking car. I think the guy who had it before was on here, but I can't remember what his user name was. Joe
  12. Looks good to me. Most some more pics when you can.
  13. Is the Rio Vista Meet a thing of the past, or was it canceled for just last year? I'm still trying to get my Z31 ready for last year. Gawd, I hate the "While I'm at it D-ziez"
  14. Is the Rio Vista meet a thing of the past? Or was it just canceled for last year. I would like to know so I can work on getting the Z31 together and painted. Of course I'm still tryinng to get it ready for last year. (I hate the "While I'm at it disease!")
  15. The little light that looks like a carousel is the low coolant light. The sensor is in the bottom of the overflow tank. Near as I have been able to figure the light is supposed to resemble a radiator. if it doesn't go out when it is full of coolant, or the sensor is unplugged, I highly recomend covering it with Harbor Freight electrical tape. Unless of course you are one of those people who actually expect things to work. Joe
  16. I pulled the in tank pump, but I don't know if I needed to or not. I think the stock line was 5/16 I used the 3/8 because that is what comes on a chevy (I think). The reason I pulled the stock pump was because I had to get the tank boiled out so I could move the filler from the side of the car to behind the licence plate. Your front scoop looks good I'll post mine if I ever am home long enough to finish it. Joe
  17. Alf, I am using a holley red pump. Mainly because I got it cheap. I haven't had much chance to see how it runs yet. Are you using the stock fuel line? I changed mine to 3/8" all the way back to the tank. The red pump doesn't make much pressure but a lot of volume. I don't know for sure but it seems that I read somewhere on here that the stock pump won't move enough volume to feed a sbc. I may be wrong, It wouldn't be the first time. Hope this helps. Joe
  18. I'm fabracating a stainless steel shroud from the grill opening in my airdam to the radiator. I figure that it will move more air into the rad, and help stiffen the dam dam. Stainless is being used because I have some laying around, and like many of the emotionaly immature I am attracted to shiny things. Post some pics of yours, and I'll shoot some of mine as it progresses. Joe
  19. Is he sure its Jesus? Looks more like Charlie Manson to me.
  20. Hood clearence is a real PITA for me. the top of the magneto touches the hood and The injector stacks won't clear at all. I can't lower the engine because there is only about an eighth of an inch clearance between the oil pan and the steering rack. That is why I am using the stock chevy dist and the four barrel carb 'til I can get the hood taken care of. I had to trim the firewall seam to clear the distributor . I found a cf hood for about $560, it is supposed to be 20 lbs lighter than the stock one and it has cowl induction. I don't know if that is a good deal or not. What do you think?
  21. Sorry the pics of the mounts aren't great, but here is my install. Right now the magneto is off the engine going to Joe Hunt in Rancho Cordova for a turn up, and somewhere in the chaos that I call my garage is Hilborn injection. They won't clear the hood. I can't do body work, and right now don't have the $560 to blow on a cf cowl induction hood. Joe
