  4. Count your blessings that you haven't got a Z31. I am totally unskilled with fiber glass, and the only thing I can find for my Z31 is a carbon fiber cowl hood for about $550. Any suggestions?
  5. I know that it ain'ta Z, but still... http://www.mgbv8.co.uk/index.html If I only had thetime.
  6. The steering column looks pretty long. Maybe the guy is large and doesn't want to put out the bucks for a shorter one.
  7. I met a guy at a rest area who was transporting one on a flatbed. He let me look it over even opened the doors so I could see inside. ERA builds replicas of the originals for about 60K. What awesome cars.
  8. In my youth I had a girlfriend that bought a 140hp Corsa. It was an awesome little car. it wqould pull real hard, but at about 80 mph the darn thing would get real light on the front end. What a thrill ride in a car that was naturally heavy at the back. It was a great little car otherwise, and on a good day would tear a new a$$ on a 250 hp 327 Impalla.
  9. I don't know about traction problems, with that big engine sitting back there. If its a 455, then I presume its out of a Toronado so most of the weight is behind the axels, so It might have a tendency to want to pull the front wheels. BTW How much were they asking for it?
  10. So, you can repair a Ferrari with a bunch of open end wrenches and a hammer? I guess all I need for my Z is a cresent wrench, a rock, and a roll of duct tape.
  11. I saw it on the news, he is going to keep it. He said he's giving it to his teenage daughter. The news also said that he paid about $6000 for it new and now its worth about 50000. The car was originally blue and now is silver. When they showed the interior and it looked brand new. It was in a container heading out of the country.
  12. IMHO, before the dabate about whether it would make 500 hp gets too far along, there are a couple of things to consider. Its easy to say a bbc with a roots blower won't make a lot of power, and although I agree that a lot of blown street cars are doggy, a well setup blower motor can make a ton of power. I'd want to hear from the owner about what has been done to the engine. After all 454 is just a start for a big block. (you can get that much out of an aftermarket small block fer crissake!) GMC blowers come in lots of sizes.(I think a blower off a 3-53 detroit engine would be neat on the vg-30 that is sitting in my garage.) The blower off an 8-92 would be just what the doctor ordered for a built big block. Not only is the size of the blower important, but the pulley that drives it makes a difference, when one of those gets overdriven, the boost goes up FAST. A for at he blower sticking up too high, I have a suspision that this thing wasn't built to be a sleeper. (I could be wrong of course;) )
  13. 1. What kind of milage does it get? 2. Is it smog legal in California?
  14. First some background. I put my tranny back in today, and only had to take it out twice. The first time the converter slipped foreward and wouldn't go back into the front pump. So I took it down and sat it on the floor and it slipped right in.Oif course I had to lift it back onto the floor jack. I'd forgotten just how heavy a th350 with the converter full of oil is. Anyhow I hoisted it back into position and it slipped onto the dowells on the engine. In practically no time I had the bell housing bolted up and one bolt started on the torque converter. Then I pryed the engine ariound using the patented screwdriver method and started the next converter bolt. When I turned the flexplate to start the last bolt I snapped ta couple of teeth off the ring gear. I went in to the local parts store and asked for a flexplate for a 1983 chevy 350 chevy engine. Now for the shocking part. The kid working behind the counter didn't ask what athe engine was in and even more shocking was that he went in the back and came out with the right part!!! When he didn't say "We'll have to order it from Portland", I knew that my life was complete and now I can die a happy man.
  15. There's tons of room in the engine bay for a big block.
  16. Won't that plastic clog the intake?
  17. I bought a kit from summit to do my doorhandles but then changed my mind. If anyone is interested They're still in the box they have 45lb solonoids, and door poppers. I'd really like to find them a new home. Joe
