  4. I worked for a real a-hole several years ago. there was a lady who had come to work in our department, and she did a really good job. At her evaluation he recomended she get a five cent an hour raise even though whe was doing about half his work for him. If anyone had a suggestion to make the department run better, he'd take it to the station manager as his own and get the credit. When he screwed up, he'd pass the blame to anyone he could. This guy pissed me off so bad that when I quit my job I wrote to a neo naxi orginazation and bought a "Hitler was right" bumper sticker and on my last day at work I put it on the rear of his car. He was gone a week later.
  5. Talked to the owner, he says the only problem is excessive rear tire wear.
  6. PopN - I say profiling, because if my friend was driving a Harley with exhaust that would wake-up the dead 10miles away...well guess what? He would not be pulled over and hassled - that I guarantee. You gotta be kidding. back before the yuppie scum started buying Harleys to haul around in their new pickups, Harley riders got more BS than you could imagine. Especially if you happened to be wearing a patch. Usually It would be two car loads of cops who would stop you and get your registration and licence. If you asked whaat you were stopped for the standerd answer was " We have a report of a bike answering the description of this one that has been stolen." Then they would make you empty your pockets, and inspect your property. I've even had the gloves taken out of my pocket because some pig thought they might be weighted. Next would come the camera to get pictures of the bike. ( I usually threw my jacket over the tank) Then came the ticket for some crap. like handlebars more than 15 inches above the seat, of rear fender not long enough, or front fender not covering 90 degrees of the front tire, or too loud. I would usually go through this about two or three ti;mes any time rode into our little one horse town. Only chopped riders got this special attention.
  7. My work week averages about 70 hrs. I drive aprox 120,000 to 135,000 miles per year since about 1974
  8. I don't believe that the in tank pump will give you enough volume for a v8. I changed to a holley red pump for my swap (currently mine is carbed). With my Chevy the exhaust will clear the steering though it is pretty tight. I don't have any experience with a sbf, but if the sump on the oil pan is at the rear, there should be a ton of room around it. As for the rear end, my z31 squats enough to drag the exhaust from a dead start, but the wheels barely break loose. however when it goes into second, it does have a tendency to get sideways. I'm not crazy about it squating so here is my solution. I plan to put in an 8.8 inch Ford irs from a t'bird or a mustang(if I ever get the time) . There are pics of my sbc in my gallery if you are interested. Joe
  9. Tim, I stopped by the place and there was no one there. Will try again next time I go by.
  10. Tim, if you find you need any parts, I saw a whole group of '55s in a field just north of Dunigan Calif. just past the Northbound rest area on I-5
  11. Gawd, this thread sounds like something off Zcar.com. I've seen one of the Vettes, and I thought it looked real good. Not only that , but Ford had a concept car that closely resembled the Bird with the '49 front end.
  12. Have you ever seen an old movie where someone turns on the water in the sink and it squirts out of the stove burners? Here's the story: A while back I pulled the dash out of my Z31 and installed combonation guages from an early Z. installed the new speedo and tach, reinstalled th dash and everything worked great. the only problem was that the combo guages had an amp meter instead of a volt meter. I scored the correct guage (280Z) and ripped the dash out again. I wired it all up and put it all back together. However, now there is no power to the ignition switch, when the headlight switch is turned on the panel lights come on but none of the outside lights. The turn signals don't work, but if the 4 way flashers are turned on the parking lights come on and the left flashers work. While this is happening the right turn signal indicator in the dash starts to blink. The switch that is supposed to open and close the headlights starts the fan and water pump, but the headlight doors don't even twitch. Oh yeah, the fan is running backwards blowing air out the grill of the car. Here is what I did: First I reached into the back and shut off the power at the battery. Next I shut off the lights in the garage and locked the doors. I went into the house and discovered that there wasn't any beer in the fridge. Finally I made a decision that I will no longer work on the car when I'm tired. I don't need any advice, I know that I have to pull the dash again and straighten out the wiring. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
  13. It sure looks redneck, but IT AIN'T NO HARLEY!! Sorry, I buess I'm a dreaded purest.
  14. Alf, My car isn't a 2+2. I lost everything for the air conditoner that was under the hood, and none of the stuff inside the car. I also tossed the cruise control. Joe
  15. Forget it. I had one of the prototypes and the damn thing stuck me on Monday for almost a week! Besides they don't offer a chrome one.
  16. Alf, Mine weighed about 2970 with the v6. After doing most of what you have done and with my 350 with alum heads and intake manifold, electric water pump and blockhugger headers mine came in a 2900. The front end weighed about 70 lb more than the back. I used the truck scale where I work. Its a certified scale and is pretty acurate. Joe
  17. They sell them about 30 miles from here in Ashland OR. I've been meaning to go look at them but haven't had time yet.
