  1. Glad you got to run it this fall. To complete your first event with only minor issues is a huge accomplishment! Maybe the front LCA is going negative and jacking the front down? Any travel indicators on the front shocks?
  2. Phantom, my experience mirrors yours. The GT48 series are a lot better rotor than the lower priced versions, well worth the money especially if you track the car. jt
  3. Quick and dirty...... build up the floor with some wooden runners so the tires clear the frame.
  4. That's real close to what I would see with my white car, running 245/45/16 hoosiers. 1.35-1.38 sustained, spiking to mid 1.6's. I was using a Racepak datalogger, with a midrange smoothing factor.
  5. Well I hope you get to run. I know that will be huge for you. Gotta have an update!!!!!
  6. I've seen it done by heating the tube and bending it, also by sawing about 3/4 way thru the tube, bending the cut closed, then welded. Both are done right next to the spindle. Stock class with no adjustable parts allowed. Are you going to run the car this weekend?
  7. Any adjustment left on the LCA? Tweak the strut tube a bit?
  8. That is cool as cold beer. I've got to try that out today. Thanks Jon. jt
  9. The odds of a small diameter clutch blowing up are very very small. Most clutch explosions are drag racing related, and heavy stock style clutch/flywheel assemblies. However, they're ugly when they happen. You might look into the lightweight convertor shields, something like this: http://www.jegs.com/p/CSR/CSR-Transmission-Flexplate-Super-Shields/747511/10002/-1
  10. Well that bites. Sorry that happened. Anytime you break a crank, the line bore, balance, and damper are things to think about.
  11. Is this the same Ed Pink who was a legend building mopar hemi's back in the 60's and 70's? He built engines for the biggest names in the business, Garlits, Prudhomme, etc.
  12. The pic is a bit blurry for me, but from what I can see it looks OK. If you've got the oil filter that was on it, it's always a good idea to cut it open and check for any debris. jt
  13. That's similiar to the one Jon referenced. I remember that discussion, pretty sure it was 7" and 30 deg. The whaletail I'm referring to is the one like a 930 tea tray, maybe from the IMSA cars?
  14. I agree with the others that a spoiler will tighten the car and not hurt the top end a lot. A lot of the drag force is applied to the front of the car, ahead of the centers. All the force pushing the car forward is applied rear of the centers. So when the car yaws a bit, the drag force goes to one side of the centers. The front of the car is pretty well stuck, so now the rear moves more than before. And the car is spooky loose. Some of us around here have seen the same thing on the road courses with fast straights. Look thru the rear spoiler data in the WT tests. If it's legal, a whaletail might be your best option. Congrats on having a successful trip!!!!! john
  15. You can't talk about spring rates without including the bar(s) you plan to run. One affects the other and they both affect how the car handles. jt
  16. Hmmmmm..... Looking good to me. jt
  17. I think you're making great progress. Better than some of my projects. Car looks great, love the color. jt
  18. That's a good looking divided dual plane. Square bore so no Eddy. Think about what you want to do with the heat risers, if not much cold weather driving block them off. Your engine now can do a lot better than 222/314, intake, exhaust, and some tuning. It's pretty cool you've has a V8 Z for 25 years. I owned a L82 vette a long time ago. If I remember right that cam is on pretty wide centers, maybe 114 or so. They made good power and sounded good. 882 heads were pretty good for the time, although the chambers were too big. Bah. I am about drunk. I will shut up now. let us know how the engine turns out. jt
  19. If I was going to stick with the single plane, I would go back to the 650 dp. It will give you a lot more pump shot and more tunability to deal with that much plenum. if you want to stick with the Eddy, I would definitely go to a smaller dual plane intake, maybe a performer or a sp2p, or one of the dual plane holleys. If it was mine, I would work towards the 650 DP with a performer rpm, some headers, and a good flowing exhaust. Then spend some time with a wideband and work on the carb. If you haven't tried some more timing, both initial and advance, I would also try that. jt
  20. Which street dominator do you have? If it's the single plane one, it's not a good match for the rest of your engine. Too much plenum for that cam and carb. Are you checking timing with the vacuum disconnected and plugged? Have you tried some more timing? Are you sure there aren't any vacuum leaks? jt
  21. I like them. Thanks for posting the weight, some skip over that part. jt
