Which set of Wilwoods to go with?
ToplessZ replied to Cody 82 ZXT's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Im getting ready to order every thing for the swap myself Ive had the jsk stuff for awhile also. I am going with the us brake calipers. Just doing the f22i calipers. I really want to do the f88i calipers but they are out of my price range definatly overkill for me but they look sweet. Behrents has the best prices on the U.S brake calipers also. I just need to make sure I know what lines and fittings to buy. Ive got everything else down. Thanks guys -
Hw about vg30det pistons. these dont happen to be forged from the factory do they. There are a couple aftermarket sources for the fj20 rods. What about a ld28 crank 140mm rods and custom pistons is there enough deck height in a l28et block? Or is the wrist pin going to be in the middle of a ring? Im not set on destroking just thought it would be cool. I might destroke an na motor for fun and see what it will take to blow it up. I have the stuff to do a backyard buildup of one. But Im trying to focus on my turbo build right now. Im not making much headway as I havn't come up with a set plan on what I'm doing nothing worse then buying parts you decide not to use....(Im good at that one)

Looks like we have found the cheapest source for pistons what about the rest of the rebuild. I would like to have premium bearings rather then the beck arnley ones that are readily available. Any advice? Should I just use the napa and autozone rebuild stuff? Getting closer...........

Try some toilet bowl cleaner (the works) from wal mart its 97 cents per bottle probably have to let it sit in the solution a while but it should give you a decent black oxide color and you should be able to clear coat over that after its cleaned up and wiped down. I might have to try this myself. I kinda found this out by accident...dont ask but Ill have to see how well it really works. Only problem is not all the trip is stainless as I had some lower window trim rust on me Acid would just eat the chrome off. It should work for the windshield and hatch trim though.

Here is a great and inexpensive place to get your injectors cleaned http://www.witchhunter.com/injectorserv1.htm Im getting ready to send him my 370cc injectors even though I havnt decided if Im using them or not. At 12.00 an injector it is way cheaper than new ones! I hope you find to your engines ailments

Id donate an arm and a testical to get my car to look like that. I wonder if it would be possible to order one of those windshields or another alternative? Ive been reading up on roof chopping and would love to have a slightly chopped z. Definatly sleeker. Combined with some other body mods I think it could look absolutly sick. I think some reshaped wheels wells would be great. On a really low car you could reshape the wheel wells to give it a body dropped look. I think some custom zg style flares would be awesome on it. Something with a little more bubble that carries the same about of extension throughout the diameter of the flare if that makes any sense.

Ok I needed to jump my battery in my 82 zxt and I looked at it and the red wire is going to the negative and the black wire is going to the positive side of the battery? Its been like this for a long time before I got the car. Im afraid to hook it up to my other car for a jump. Whats the story guys?

It looks like the back of your seats are hard plastic mike. If they are all leather you can buy some spray on dye from walmart Ive used the duplicolor stuff and it works great on leather if its prepped first. Good luck -
lifetime warrenty eh. If only I werent switching to cv axles. I wonder what their price is on those.
-
Well I can't be of help here but I would also like to know how others met this problem. Im running an auto now but will be switching to a five speed shortly. I want to hook up an autometer speedo in the near future.

I know convenience is nice when it comes to putting things together but I recomend forgetting the cd changer. Even the good ones skip much worse than a regular cd player and you could spend that extra equipment and install cost on a much better amp speakers and head unit. I can't stress enough how much better off you will be without the 6x9 enclosure if you want a really nice clean sound. Post it on the board or on ebay recoup a few dollars and look at some 6.5 inch replacements. I also highly recommend the 8 inch sub in your application. Ive been messing with car stereos for several years and can say two things. Do not buy any generic stuff....PERIOD I'll reiterate what others have said here. Go with a low wattage amp small sub and basic head unit from alpine or similar and a small sub. Ill bet a few bucks you wont be dissapointed. Good luck.

Speaking of leaks you did have your intercooler leak tested before going through all the trouble of hooking it up right. You should not be forced to run near stock boost after adding the intercooler. I recommend joining me in the 300zx ecu swap path. Im sourcing the parts right now.

Is the header going to be stainless or just regular steel. Im interested. If that is a full stainless down pipe or even mild steel DP that is a great deal. May also be interested in that. lets see some pics asap

Updates???

Hmm mine should be here shortly. Looks sweet.... can I fondle yours since I dont have one..............................yet lol

Ok 463 with rings is a steal. What bore sizing did you use. Does anyone know how much further up the wrist pin could be located on a stock f54 designed piston. Would definatly be sweet to run a longer rod in my l28 engine and forget the l24 crank. I should have enough parts to build a destroked n/a motor with the parts I have left
-
Those are 84 mm bore wiseco does make 86 mm bore datsun pistons but they have a 1.500 compression height = non dished N/A pistons thats a great price is your going the high compression route though
-
man 369.00!!!!!! thats enough reason to keep the standard rod and stroke of course those should still allow the l24 crank and rods and bring the budget down....Hmmm Drax as far as injecting this thing it will be through megasquirt for now. Ive got a long way to go before any of this comes together and I will probably upgrade the fuel management when and If I actually hit high numbers with this setup. I think it would be fun

The ross says all nissan v6 pistons with reverse dome (dished?) are 583. and change? Im looking for good prices on the rest of the performance rebuild. I thought the prices on racetep were high?
-
Well Im definatly looking at some other options such as running a 145.9 mm rod from the l20b or similar. With the shorter l24 stroke Im not sure if I will be able to use the f54 pistons or not. Looking into custom pistons. It would be sweet to run the 145.9 mm rods with the l28 or ethe ld28 crank its only 1.9 mm longer then the 73 l24 rods. Still looking for someone to spit out some part sources. Is ross the best place for custom pistons. Looks like about 700.00 with the parts needed to make them work. Plus rings and the rest of te rebuild stuff. Any word on z31 pistons as to whether they have a higher wrist pin or not?
-
OH my looks like your definatly getting batmans OLD ride. Im sure he has upgraded by now. Way too much money for that. Definatly an interesting piece though
