19inch wheels on a S30... pic inside
ToplessZ replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
they would have to be tucked better than that I think with 30 series tires it could be done without raising the car. I think if you rolled the fender and didnt get to wide it would have a better chance too. Definatly for show only. 18's are a good compramise but are still going to be a performance compramise. -
Guess Ill bite. Im not sure what happened to me guess I got saved so to speak I was looking at the erubuni body kits on groundeffects.com a few years ago and just happen to seea z with the xenon kit while I was browsing not sure if I had my car yet or not. Anyhow I thought it was different not what I wanted at the time yet I remembered the red car for ever. Well As I started working on my pos car #1 and then#2 I started getting into cars then I wanted something special. I liked the fiats and mg's and was into the italian sports car look then I started floating around the .net and looking into classic sports cars and that red z popped into my head so I went and found it then started looking for more info on these cars. Not sure if thats when I found this site or not but I found it via a .net search and from the point I started reading I was in love. Then found a friend of a friend that had a 77 with some aftermarket parts and I got my first ride. I loved it and had to have one. So I started reading this site and the addiction to a car I didnt have grew and grew until I found one for sale that I saved up enough money to buy and have shipped. It was a 77 280 converted into a topless and it has been my money and time pit ever since, but it is getting there. Then last summer I found a 73 240 with an imsa kit for sale for best offer. Needed a roof due to the old vinyl top. But had lots of new parts and an R200 installed bought the whole car in TX for 600 bucks and after a board member picked it up and stored it for me for awhile I had it shipped up here and it is headed to the body shop right now to get that new roof. Both cars are progressing nicely and I cant wait to have them both running like mad. Im an addict for life. The love for z cars and the knowledge involved has changed my life and at 21 and counting am looking into an automotive related career doing what I love instead of picking peoples brains (my intriguing past asperations of being a psychologist) for a living. Looking forward to life with my family of z loving brothers and a sister or two.

If the quality is good that sounds fair to me. Im more comfortable painting the fiberglass instead of the plastic.

Has Anyone Tired Teh Carbon Fiber Decal Sheets?
ToplessZ replied to SHO-Z's topic in Body Kits & Paint
did you notice the prices for the carbon fiber sheets. Sheesh definatly easier to make your own. using two pieces of glass for molds. -
That should be fairly easy to acomblish. Id use a die grinder with a cutting wheel or jigsaw with a fine tooth blade. Not to get off subject but where are you getting your carbon fiber hood from

If you look a few posts down you will notice the post about my roof getting reskinned. Well I found a new shop (old in town newly reopened) they came out to give me an estimate on reskinning my roof this morning. 200-300 dollars for an estimated 3 day job and they are shaving the drip rails while they are at it and priming the roof!!! Found their business card on the Wal-Mart bulliten board. Im excited. Steal of a price and they are looking for work to show off their business. Even better they have an in house fiberglass expert!!! Life cant get any better. Ok so I would like to have the paint finished but....
-
Ill take one for a 73 as long as the price isnt in the cloud but Im not trying to get anything for free. Hurry hurry I want one It will work great with my pdk fiberglass dash. This would be good both for painting and customizing.

I'm picking up my RB26dett tomorrow... (edit)
ToplessZ replied to RB26powered74zcar's topic in Other Engines
Congrats on the new front clip that is definatly a steal and a half. I sent you a pm -
Anyone got a labor estimate for having this done. I will be shaving the drip rails and doing the finish work myself. I am supposed to get an estimate saturday and would like to know what Im looking at ahead of time.
-
Yeah I know about Davy's Work that he had done. Anyone know if he posted any pics of that. Anyway that was a steal he got on all that work. I hope I have the same luck. Anyone have any suggestions
-
Well my z previously had a faux vinyl top and rust through some parts of my roof. The rest of the car is relativly rust free. I plan on getting it reskinned. I have a complete 280 roof will it work on my 73 240. What would be a fair price for a body shop to charge to put it on. No finish work just installing the new roof shell properly. Thanks in advance guys

well I pm'd this guy some time ago with no response so he might not be selling anymore or at least not serious about it
-
So could it technically work. I know what they are for (urban dictionary ) but could it work as a one hitter nitrous shot. I just dont see anyway to control how much hp as claimed in that auction. Obviously the seller is trying to scam people but is the though a feasible one?
-
Dont like the first idea but the rest have a little promise. Check ebay they have some neat generic fiberglass vents to consider.

If I wasnt in over my head with current projects I wouldnt mind having one of those http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/tenshi_kurai23/detail?.dir=/Stuff+I+did+at+work.&.dnm=c2de.jpg If anyone wants to buy that for me that would be awesome.

ok so youve got me thinking...how many alternative methods would there be to forming a part such as that hood. if you were to make a clay mold of the hood and form the lexan via large oven would that work. I thought about building an oven for powdercoating and this would definatly expand its uses.

Ok this looks to be a tad above the level of electric blowers but I figured it can hurt to look into it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33740&item=2457463291 If it did work it would be kinda cool for that rare street race. Not much of that around here.

dumb question why do you need an adapter. What are you adapting the T56 to.
-
I guess with a five foot penis he must have beached himself on the way to a red light district appt.
-
Well If I can figure out how to remove my Real Rear Imsa flares without killing them I will be auctioning them off to the highest bidder or trading them for a set of yz flares (doubtful). This may not be until spring though. We shall see.

Man steve you rock I like that side shot of your car the best. Hopefully someone can photoshop a door and some color to it. I have seen those other cars before just with tops I however am keeping the top on this project as I already have a widebody topless. Cant wait to see some colors.

24 Valve DOHC head almost done!
ToplessZ replied to turbobluestreak's topic in Fabrication / Welding
From what I have seen the equal length Header will start to make a difference at 450+ hp. Id like to see the endurence test. Not alot of faith in stock na valvetrain at 7500 rpms -
just so everyone knows this is not for a convertible project this is a different car of mine. I really would like to see some color though its kinda hard to picture with them just hanging on a doorless car although from tht perspective it looks pretty good so far.
-
Id say it would hold up to a rock ding I throwing it around and beating on it the other day seemed pretty solid slightly less flex than plexiglass. When you cut it I believe you have to leave the backing on both sides and use a very fine tooth blade. Id like to see how it forms anyhow
