Long time no post... info on my Z.
ToplessZ replied to KraZeeZX's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Congrats so what happened with the shop are they paying you back for screwing you or what. Im glad to hear it has worked out. What did you end up doing for the needed hood clearence I was really interested in that. Cant wait to see the car though it is definatly going to rock our world -
Well said. I agree with some of the above posts while some I find overly skeptical. Instead of taking a negative approach I saw no one offer any true questions or hints. I am in line to purchase these myself. I see this as no more dangerous than wheel adapters and actually a better safer alternative to the 300zx swap at least in terms of longevity. Instead of bashing I will try to pick everyones brains here. What points of this part would be the stress points. What points compared to stock could use strengthening. What are your true specific part related concerns. Im tired about hearing about someone thinking they are going to die instead how about hearing what might make this part die as that would have to happen first anyway. Wow thats some great run on sentences guess Im quite like juan...just gotta flow. So how about some feedback fromt he brains of this board. Id also be happy to look at your part post my comments here and pass it to the next interested party.

looks like some of us are confused here or maybe its just me. The Universal 18 circut harness isnt going to have alot to do with fuel system choices. The engine harness is a seperate harness and the 18 circut universal harness no matter what brand isnt going to replace that. However on the subject of rewiring I plan on going this route myself and adding power windows and locks hopefully.

Removing spindles from struts HELP
ToplessZ replied to ToplessZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Hey Z8 maybe I could come over an use your press in a week or so. I am supposed to sell the stub axles and mustache bar to another member and meet him in columbus I could press the stubs off at the same time and then deliver them. Heck maybe we could meet at your place. That would be really cool If I cant accomplish this in my driveway. -
With the heat lamps it doesnt seem like you would have alot of control over the temperature though would you?

Yes I have seen some nice sandblasting setups really reasonable actually there is a company in ohio too cant recall the name. Wish I wasnt at work I would like to get online and do some more research and price out some materials to build my own oven. Any thoughts on this matter would be great.
-
ive got some ideas on this as I think about it more. If I could find two decent ovens and use the guts from them in a custom sized oven I would have lots of space. I was looking at something for larger scale work maybe for a side job or something.
-
I think he meant paperwork on the driveline. If you dont have reciepts I would say not a lot. Where are you located
-
Any ideas about finding or building a bigger than kitchen sized oven. I would like to powdercoat some things that are a little larger???

Removing spindles from struts HELP
ToplessZ posted a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Is it possible to remove the spindles from the strut tubes. IF so how to do it. Thanks -
I was just reading an article in one of my car mags and it advised not to powdercoat springs as heating them could cause the springs to loose thier intended rate and eventually sag. I would like to hear more on the 200 dollar kit. I thought about powdercoating for a little side cash

Well as the calender would have it I have offically become legal this year. It was 21 on aug 12th. lovin it but they say health declines from 20 onward so I have been trying to be healthy and my only regret in life is to not have taken better care of my hair(all those colors...was that really necessary....OF COURSE ) Well then there was the girl of my dreams that somehow slipped away...... Got a new girl now. Born late 1972 named 240z and has chosen to be twins with no one....wow im rambling in my twenties just wait till I get older. Maybe this will give the average a sip from the fountian of youth

well the half car is exactly that. less than half so not towable. Got a little crazy with the sawzall. However it is under a tarp unfortunatly a blue one. Its more the parking problem. Im going out to re arrange some things today to make more space and consolidate. Also going to cut the roof off for future use. hopefully we will have some nice weather asap. I wish hurst transport hadnt said it would be two weeks until it was picked up because I was counting on that. Now its going to be delivered in less than a week. It will be the first time I ever complain about speedy service

Well Good news is my 73 240 imsa widebody is finally being transported from texas (just a quick thanx to spotfitz for his helpfulness this guy is top notch) Bad news.... Its headed for my parents driveway as there is no room at my apartment for something like this. Anyway I already have a Z and a half and by half that is literal I have one that I cut in half to transport pieces at a time to the jy after I pulled the good parts off. Anyhow he isnt very happy about the 2nd (plus or minus .5) arriving on wednesday. I dont think Im going to be able to move the .5 car because of the nasty weather an work until the weekend and we are having company on wed and thurs. So I need your advice on keeping the rents happy. Hopefully someone will have a big tip besides giving away my car to you thanks guys

Well jegs has the gm crate engine for 1300 http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=146671&prmenbr=361 anyone know a discount code for jegs. Or anyone that sells this cheaper. I just want it to get my z rolling until I can afford the upgrades that the bigger engine Im building will require. Thanks for any input guys.

No one has mentioned the cost on one of these puppies. I would like to hear more on the thermostat issues. Wouldnt that just be something you could swap out with a colder thermostat? I think the ls1 would be a good candidate for a street performer with a carb minus the cold weather starting issues. However it would also be cool to add a plate nitrous setup for an extra 100 shot
-
Keep shopping you never know what you might find. I would also consider a 200r4 or 700r4 if you plan on doing any street driving that way you will have an overdrive.
-
for 4500 dollars you can have a 500 hp 383 and a built 700r4 if you play your cards right and do alot of deal shopping youll still have money left over

Ebay is the place to get alot of that stuff including the vortec heads. Alot of times you can find them with upgraded valve springs already installed. Look at the protopline vortec heads those would be a good upgrade for not much more than the stock vortecs
