  1. Make sure you dont run into the same problems as corzette as outlined in his recent posts. That would suck. So did ya get the new frame railes done? Cant wait to see what that baby will do.
  2. SOOOO....where's the pics
  3. Thanks but I wasnt tightening them at all I was removing them. When removing them I just broke them all first before loosening them all the way. Still yeah it was a big waste of time. Oh well life goes on.
  4. Well that was fun...so much for my free block. No I didnt take out the bolts one at a time. The socket was a cheapie I guess. I took the heads off one to be able to take the engine off the bed of my friend truck no hoist yet and I also wanted to inspect the internals. After countless hours wrapped up in the stupid thing I find that. The rusty cylinders have already been bored to the max. The crank needed turned and there was a chip at the bottom of one of the cylinders. The 76 cc truck heads and block made the funeral precession to the junk yard yesterday. Back to looking for an engine. Denny411 had one for 300 bucks I may have to go that route. Also know of a nice one for a grand but Im kinda broke right now. Thanks for the input yet again guys.
  5. Guess I should get more info on the gun and what the specifics of air needle size etc are. I am interested in this as I would like to buy a smaller compressor and then have a dedicated sprayer for the next stage of my project.
  6. What is you experience with these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2423068660&category=43997 IS it all hype or are these worth the investment. Im more curious than anything but may be interested at some point down the road.
  7. Hello. I was wondering. Can an Lt1 Crank shaft be used in an older block? Maybe with the 2 peice rear main adaptor? Found one cheap and I need a new one.
  8. Well I found my breaker bar and broke a socket. Went to walmart and bought a new socket...locked myself out of my car so I stayed at walmart for about 4 hours reading the current issue of street rodder. Finally got a ride got my keys, went and got my car, Broke loose the bolts and removed the heads. sheesh!!! The two center bolts definatly showed some signs of extra heat...Odd. Ok I know this had been posted a million times but what is the site for casting numbers? Thanks Jared
  9. Hey guys just got a free 350 long block and im trying to remove the heads. I have removed all the head bolts from both heads...except for 1 bolt on each. I was wondering if the center studs on the inside of the head closest to the edge had a different torque rating. I cant get either of them off on both sides. I am having to use a deep socket to get to the bolt because of the valve springs. IS there any way to remove those without a special tool. Then I could use a shorter socket and get a grip on it. Anyone that can help with my dumb little delima that would be great.
  10. Sounds like a great engine. Ill take three...charged to duece of course. Hey RacerX if that customer bails on that couger I need to have it. My dad totalled his at 17 and at 46 he's still crying about it.
  11. Who is willing to help spotfitz pick up the car possibly sunday? Please post or pm spotfitz. Still open to any cost effective opinions on transporting the car to ohio. Thanks guys you rock.
  12. They way I have heard recommended is having it added to the first layer of clear coat only. Your basecoat will cover best and you have more clear over the metallic to protect it. Be careful when doing this though because the metallic in the clear can greatly effect the original color of the basecoat. IF done right I think this is the best method and looks better IMO. Good luck
  13. Nope as mentioned earlier it is a non runner. It is 990 miles one way. Map quest said about 15 hours. Ive never been to the area before so I dont know much about it. The only place to rent a car dolly that can go out of state is Uhaul. It is 108 dollars for five days. The car rental places dont want to let me rent because Im not quite 21 month and a half to go there. All the car rental places say they do not allow any towing of vehicles. Id be kinda worried about the bumper pulling 2500 lbs. And uhaul wont let you rent a dolley without a real hitch that thy inspect. The 800 for shipping is a little steep right now. I did have this trip all planned out and it fell through 2 days before I was to leave not cool. I asked everywhere and everybody if I could borrow or rent a truck and turned up nothing. I took 2 vacation days for nothing too boot. This is all leaving me kinda bummed... I did have a non runner shipped here last year from cali for 750 but it was a luck thing. I was hoping to do it all myself and get it done for about 500 bucks. So now im just trying to get the car out of the guys way and see what my best options are....any ideas guys?
  14. Cody Do you have room to store a car. If you did maybe we could get a couple of us guys together and get it running and I could drive it back. The car is actually located in addison. How far is that from you. Im looking for any options at this point. The only problem is the time off work.
  15. Hey any of you guys wanna bring my z from dallas to ohio. Looks like there are alot you guys in the area. I just bought a 240 down there thats not quite running and It needs to be trailered to ohio. The shipping companies want big bucks because its a non runner. Id be happy to pay someone to bring it up here Heck Id fly down there and ride back with ya if you wanted. Check this post for more info http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23202
  16. Well the thing is I have nothing to pull a dolly with. NO truck and uhaul wont let you pull a car unless you have a truck or large car. The inspect the vehicle, hitch, and want to know what you are pulling. I was supposed to borrow a friends truck and that fell through. All I have is my little four banger altima with a slipping trans. Dont think I can pull anything with it.
  17. Well the head was taken off for a rebuild and the carbs may or may not need rebuilt. The uhaul smalles option available with a trailer was almost a grand not to mention the 250 dollar plane ticket If I had a truck I was looking at 300 for travel expenses and 100 to rent the trailer. I took the time off work and then my truck fell through and I couldnt rent one. So now I cant get off work for at least another month and still no truck. Grrr. Hope someone can help me out. If it were running I would fly down and get it in a few weeks as soon as I could get a day off work. Guess Ill have to play it by ear.
  18. Hey guys would anyone be interested in hauling my new 240z from dallas area TX to Cincinatti area OH. I would be happy to pay someone to do it. The auto shippers want too much money becuase it isnt a runner Does anyone know of a cheap shipping company. Or would anyone here be willing to haul it. I was going to get it myself but I couldnt find anywhere to rent a truck from that had a hitch. Help anyone advice or info....
  19. I wonder what it would take to get the cooling to work right on the lt1 heads. The use the new reverse flow cooling but on a mild small block I think it would be a cost effective way to have a modern fuel injected setup that would be lighter than the cast iron vortec heads or similar. Someone with more brains than me post an opinion or pics or both. Thanks guys
  20. Hey Taffy that link in your post is no worky. What would you guys charge for an sr20det swap if the complete setup was supplied to you first. Im curious.
  21. As far as simplicity is concerned motor plates are great but if you dont want to rattle your teeth out and biting your tongue while talking some mounts of any kind are going to be alot better.I think I still like the first idea if you put a large steel plate on the firewall I dont think you would have to worry about the driver becoming a ka bob. I am seriously thinking about the sr going in my convertible to have a modern lightweigt motor that is good on gas and very peppy. Still looking at cost and difficulty factors here though.
  22. 937-393-3562 is the number. Where in Ohio are you. Im out of town for the next day or two but feel free to call on a monday anytime. Good luck keep up with the good ideas.
