  1. Right now the MS-I processor has more than enough cycles to handle everything you can do with extra code. The only time I find where the processor runs out of cycles is when burning a new map. Not always, but sometimes you will get a stumble or two when loading a new map. Now if MS-II could do full sequential fuel and spark, and your project had a redline of 12K RPM, you could use the additional processing speed. But where the MS-II extra does most everything that MS-I extra does, there really isn't a need. Even with large injectors and small opening times, it is not the processor that can't keep up, it is the injectors.
  2. Stay away from aluminum wire... Home Depot actually has a decent selection, and good prices. They also have tire-wraps, crimp lugs, and other stuff that comes in handy. I've bought stuff from Sherco auto supply. Check out these wire prices: http://www.sherco-auto.com/primary_wire.htm
  3. See this thread for more info on LS1 coils: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=120533
  4. Try swapping the wires from the VR sensor at the EDIS module. If they are swapped, you will not get a signal from the VR sensor. If you have power and the VR sensor wired correct, you should get spark right away. The EDIS module has a limp mode. The MS doesn't even need to be wired up to get a spark in limp mode.
  5. I can't measure flow rate, only opening time. I can then optimize the PWM settings for that injector. I may build a flow rate test bench in the future, but I don't have one now.
  6. Send me one and I'll measure it. PM me for my address.
  7. Read these threads on how I do the measurements: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=121206 http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=121361
  8. H2O injection works anywhere you want to cool the intake air stream. The difficult part is getting the right amount of water. Too little:detonation. Too much: less power. Also, betting you engines life on windshield washer pump is a little risky.
  9. Hear is a start on the injector opening times for various injectors. I also included two columns for MS PWM limit % and PMW time threshold. Thanks to Clifton for sending me the two RX7 injectors. I will continue to update this as I get more injectors
  10. You can use either fusable link, or just go right to the battery. I suggest using a automatic resetable 40A circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Also, 20A on the MS is too high. 5A-10A should be fine.
  11. Get your idle mixture correct at normal operating temperature first, then start playing with the warmup wizard. Get it running good when hot, then work on the cold enrichment. Also, make sure closed loop is off. Read through the FAQ on the cold enrichment, it helped me a lot.
  12. Question: when you spin one of the half shafts on a VLSD, does the other turn in the opposite direction like an open diff? This is what this R160 does with no fluid in it. Does a VLSD require fluid for the limited slip action to work? The ratio is 4.44:1 BTW.
  13. Anyone know if this is a viscous LSD? It is an R160 from a Subaru. Note the ratio! At first I thought it was an open differential as output shafts turn opposite direction when one is turned. It doesn't look like a normal open diff.
  14. Identify this differential. It is an R160 from a Subaru. Note the ratio! At first I thought it was an open differential as output shafts turn opposite direction when one is turned. It doesn't look like a normal open diff.
  15. I have a close friend that lost his wife. Once he got back on his feet he scratch built this amazing chopper. A great way to keep busy. It's a tribute to her memory. You have done a great job in your Sons memory. Are you bringing it to the convention in Daytona this year? I'll be there.
  16. Geez, looks like I might have to switch back to V700s. They are cheaper too. More than a second faster? What is the track configuration of CMP?
  17. Freakin' wow! Amazing work. Give us some more details about the project. http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/coyotegary/
  18. Why do you guys think the Victoracers are faster? The RA-1s just as sticky as Victoracers (I've pulled cigarette buts out of my RA-1s after a track session). I've run both, and like the RA-1 better in both wet and dry conditions. Maybe because that is what have been running for the past few years, and my times are much faster now. But then again, I have improved greatly over the years. Unless you do a side by side comparison on the same car, on the same day, with the same driver, it is hard to really know which is faster. Either tire will work great for your application BTW.
  19. Real Bob Sharp race cars use "Nissan OHC" valve covers! Series 1 "Nissan 2400" valve covers are a bargain compared to this BSR one.
  20. A dwell of 6ms is way too high! You most likely damaged your coil. The VB 921 is probably OK. Try a different coil. Anything more than 3ms will just make your coil get hot, and eventually fail. Stick with 2.5ms. If you have a stumble, it is most likely fuel.
  21. What do you have for a ground between the relay board and the MS?
  22. If you are taking your tach signal from the Crane tach output, you don't want the "Dave" cap. This may be causing some of your issues. Best to remove it. The Crane box should put out a nice +12V square wave, which should not need any filtering (that is what the Dave cap does). The stock distributor should work fine. Resets are usually caused by noise on the power or ground going to the MS. If you don't have a good solid ground connection from the MS to the battery, the ground can bounce, which can cause resets. How many ground wires are in you harness?
  23. Me too. Wolf3D. Good idea to add another sub forum!
  24. It is a daunting task at first, but stick with it. Be meticulous in your work, and it will pay off. That is a good place for the ECU, but as you know, checking the fuses will be a pain. Move them now while it is easy to do. The MAP hose is fine. I have the MS on the tunnel between the seats in the race car, and it works fine. Also, buy some new relays, they are cheap and you can get new sockets and harnesses for them. A 10 GA wire is all you need from the battery to you ground terminal block.
