  1. Didn't know you were making a track legal car? If you're doing Drivers Edge or a PCA driving school they have lax safety standards... If you wanted to do some sort of club racing or SCCA/NASA I think all you have to do is make a metal box for the plastic cell to be contained in. Actually, all those cheap metal cells you see at Speedway are exactly like that. We have a 12 gallon one for the BMW and when I took it apart to make brackets the plastic cell pulls right out. *takes a breath* But I guess that's netiher here nor there now that its gone.
  2. Are you using that plastic fuel cell you had in your garage?
  3. I personally hate those glass fuel filters with a passion. Don't know how easy they are to break but I would hate to find out.
  4. It will work fine. I wish you were closer because I want that done on my crank but I think it would quickly lose cost effectiveness after shipping. :[ If you do it, can you note down how many hours it took you so I can get an idea on what it will cost me at my local machine shop? Thanks Derek! If you feel like being super cool you could add 2 more dowel pins on the flywheel end and mill the crank 6mm, tap the flywheel bolt holes 6mm deeper too: Although as discussed, it's not mandatory for higher RPM use at all. If you have the machines though it is pretty cool...
  5. Words of wise men, I say! I feel like such a goof when this thread gets bumped back up because some if not a lot of the initial hypothesizing I posted wasn't true and I feel like a boob. The nozzle thing, I think I addressed later on in the thread (if anyone survived all the reading), it's only used as a silencer. Some of those guys drove their cars to the track, for instance the baby blue Z, so he used a nozzle. I initialy thought the cyclone thing was worth something, then thought it was a bust, and from what you've said now I see it's worth something again! I found the explanation very interesting actually! I have some input on port design however I'm not at home so I don't have any of my pictures. I will say however that carb porting and fuel injection porting is different, which I never knew until discussed in this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/95308-bsr-gtu-e31-head-images/page__p__896640__fromsearch__1#entry896640 Further reading can be had from this link which discusses induction theory and how to calculate plenum size and runner length. As you were talking about the exhaust and pressure waves, and you worded it like it was a race, got the gears turning. Now I'm curious if you can use the same runner length formula but for your exhaust. http://www.grapeaperacing.com/tech/inductionsystems.pdf The formula essentially consists of -speed of sound velocity at a given temp -pipe diamter -RPM where you want peak power -cam duration -number of pressure wave reflections Everything is there to apply to exhaust. If the magic number for you was somewhere between 36-38" it MAY make sense. The thing I see throwing it off is velocity of the pressure wave since the exhaust is so hot, that value must be very high which makes the lenght very long... The only way to save it is to enter in a higher reflection value, but does the low pressure wave in an exhaust bounce back and forth...? Then again I read nothing in the "plenum" section of the article since my intake won't be running a plenum. Useful info may be in there. Edited from a previous post I had made using the formula: I'll have to reassess my entry when I get home.... AFTER I do my homework. You guys draw too much of my attention.

    3" exhaust?

It's got a pretty obnoxious drone to it when cruising on the highway especially now. With the old T5 tranny, 5th gear was low enough for me to cruise doing 60-70 MPH under 3000 RPM before the cam came in. At 75 and up it become ridiculous. It was horrible driving 3 hours to the track. It may not be long but you have to admit it's pretty wide. Video doesn't show exhaust decibels very well since most cameras will turn the volume down. Likewise here is the 6-1 header with no pipe going for a first drive on the motor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BXs1svOc5s
  7. That's probably what my landlord will think when a maintenance guy comes up while I'm gone and sees a florescent light running for 16 hours a day in the closet.
  8. Lol we always butt heads, no biggie. Anymore info?
  9. So eggs of aphids eh...? I know they aren't aphids, like the crawling around type, since they aren't moving. Seems like a big egg to be aphids though. I'll take some more pictures with something to scale it to. I'd have to say it's probably about the size of a pen ball if you were to take it out. Anyway, I've been spraying the plant with some soapy water since it is inside the apartment right now. I read you are really only suppose to spray once a week and I got kind of wild and did it like twice or three times last week. The plants leaves now show like brown spots that don't wipe off so either I did it with the spray or these egg things did. It's just been kind of weird to deal with this plant so far. I'll get pictures to scale tonight. Even if it is aphids, they're taking a vacation at my moms house so I just have to hope they don't spread to my seedlings by tomorrow and I'll be safe. Growing habanero and pimento peppers, tomatoes, sweet basil, lime basil, and lemon basil for inside. Can't wait to make some homemade hot sauce! I'm sure you guys have some recipes! Edit here is a better picture:
  10. Alright I have a strange question... I'm starting some plants from seeds and bought one already started grape plant. This plant has these little translucent sphere/egg things on it. It's on the stem and at the joints. I had the same thing last year with my Okra plants when they formed big leaves, these showed up on the underside of them and again on the stem and at the joints. These aren't elongated though, like eggs, and I haven't spotted any bugs. Any idea what they could be? If it's something bad I don't want it spreading to my seedlings... Sorry about the crappy pictures.
  11. Now I really wish I "invested" in a phony ticket!
  12. That's strange that it didn't fit... Maybe you weren't fitting it on right? I had that problem too... I was doing it backwards or at the wrong angle which made it dangerously close to the pully or something if I remember.Eventually I figured it out. Usually when I get pissed I take exponentially longer to solve the simplest things....
  13. Awkward moment.... Hit that one right on the head... Does it even have an R200? Probably uses a Ford 9" I bet, mhm.
  14. I found it pretty easy to remove the radiator in under 15 minutes.... Took longer for me to tap the pully out. Just an FYI, if you're using Derek's trigger wheel setup I think you do need to pull the radiator. Not only for simplicity but the wheel offset and stuff too I think.... I'm trying to remember when I put mine on, what kinks I ran into. I remember I was telling myself "next time I will do this with the engine on a stand." Maybe I pulled the radiator so I could look at the wheel head on. I forget... Anyway good luck! EDIT: Now that I think about it, I pulled the radiator so I could tap the pully back on when I was ready. Can't fit/swing a mallet with a radiator in there. Once again, I think it was just for simplicity so you don't bust your ass/knuckles on the rest of the install. You may not HAVE to pull it I suppose...
  15. I question eating a strangers left overs. There was only one time where some dude had half a pizza left and he had to go so he asked if I wanted it. I was like uhhhhhhhhh maybe... As far as the topic is concerned though. I've noticed more international blocks on silly youtube videos. I never ran into that problem until maybe a month or two ago. What I have always found most annoying is for instance this late night talk radio show I like to listen to, if I want to listen online I have to pay for a membership and its like....... I could just as well turn the radio on... I figured it would be the same for sports. I think I tried that for the World Series game and you had to get a subscription. Then again Tony. If you are using your own personal laptop you could download one of those internet TV programs. I used one a long time ago when it first came out called TVU I think. It got all the regular channels like FOX, ABC, CBS, etc. Later on they got more channels. That's the only thing I can think of unless you want to use proxies.
  16. Yes but from what I've read they were reimburse with 3 times the ticket amount...Tickets worth $800 and you receive $2400. Wish I bought a ticket to make a quick $1600. Even if I loved football, flew from out of state, all that jive, $1600 would cover that. Unless you REALLY want to complain about having to watch your game on a TV while you chill out on a free (probably make money off of it) "vacation", then ehhhh I see no problem officer. Of course inconvenience does suck and at most a few hours of anger. Sue for emotional distress and make even more money. Then again, I only read this so what do I know? Money shuts people up. Don't know if that shows sincerity of a screw up or some sort of bad character... I DO get kind of mad when I'm ranting about something and my mom says "here's $5 go eat". SCCA doesn't pay corner working staff anything. The clubs that do pay give a small amount which isn't meant to go into your pocket rather it's meant to pay for your gas and hotel stay. So basically if you want to be a nice guy, see cool cars up close, smell the exhaust, etc. yet pay for your travel costs and if you decide to stay in a hotel pay for that too, then I guess it's great. Likewise, if you want to see a bunch of dudes park their cars in a lot and.... walk around the stadium on your own time/expense...? then I suppose that too is a good deal. If they didn't feed you lunch and dinner then for sure they're way worse than SCCA! LOL As a poor college student I work racing club events. They pay me, I sleep in a tent which I don't mind, and I come back with a little bit of cash, a tan if I resemble a vampire especially this time of the year, and a fun weekend around the cars. They feed me a breakfast which I sometimes confuse as a buffet as well as catered lunch and dinner/beer/soda. There are a few young people that work but most are older experienced guys. This means they're watching their cholesterol AKA more donuts left over for breakfast. This one 60 year old guy I work with snags all the uneaten donuts back to his corner. We feast upon our loot. If rations are slim we stuff our pockets to hold us until lunch. If you're going to pocket stuff it's better to do it with pigs-in-a-blanket because they keep you warm when it's cold and then you keep them warm when they cool off. During lunch they typically have something sweet like cookies or candy which you once again hoard to hold you off until dinner. As you can see, it would be advantageous to utilize a jacket with many pockets. Or you could just bring your own food and not be a heathen..... On race weekends I grocery shop for only 5 days because I know they will take care of my endless pit of abyss, also called my stomach. Lemons and Chump Car races you can typically walk around the pits at dinner time and force teams to feed you some of their BBQ or you will black flag them. It's actually recommended to blackmail the teams in such a way, give them a hard time. :icon14: :icon14: I've got this down to a science.

    3" exhaust?

Here is my 3" exhaust with I don't know what muffler... 6-3-2 headers, also ran a generic MSA 6-1 header and it sounded similar. Obviously not the best pipe but I don't care. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM05EdPeG8U
  18. Hey man I ain't trollin', I really do! Lol We got some good snow here in DFW last night! Started around midnight and went all the way until the morning. Of course here in Little Mexico, nothing is really taken care of so there is lots of ice under the snow that's super slick now. Just a friendly reminder to all those Texan's that take the weather for granted, check to make sure your antifreeze ratio is enough for these random hard freezes. Typically I mixed mine down to 15-20º protection, my father did too. His radiator split earlier this week when it got below that. Luckily the block and everything is fine though.
  19. I'm jealous. I've always wanted a wood stove/heater. Didn't even know there were coal ones. Now I'm even more jealous.
  20. New Jersey.... I don't think that's fog.
  21. I can post some funny pictures that you may or may not understand so you don't lose your marbles.
  22. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF AN R200 CAN HANDLE THAT SORT OF POWER?! Wouldn't it be easier to get a 6-2 header and..... yah. Well...
  23. Super LOL moment here in Texas. A lot of school districts here in the DFW area are closing for tomorrow............ and it's currently 50º and raining. They've become softies to the weather. I never got that treatment! EDIT: I just got that treatment. I'm sad. Was looking forward to banging out a test tomorrow. Now all the answers are going to seep out.
  24. The wind better not screw up our results damnit. Put a tarp around it as a wind barrier!
