  1. Hmm what you said peaked my interest. If its not a "personal" thing for you, do you mind if i ask how deep you are money wise into the current motor swap?
  2. I just want to point out, and even though im beyond SUPER late on this comment- im 99% certain that the reason your old l28 was so rough was the SDS you had running it. Because of how they map things, theyll never be as smooth as a normal stand alone set up. If youre ever in california let me know Id love to strap that to the dynapack and see how it does.
  3. I know im late on this and maybe its been answered by now (though i did see a couple others asking), but check the scales. Hp is on the left, torque is on the right. They are set to different scales.
  4. I work on Vipers But sort of. The exhaust runs through the side panels, then loops around between the differential and the body (Theres a good open space here since the gas tank is up high- right behind the seats), and then wraps around the differential and out the back. That said, just use the lowest point on the car as the guide for where the bottom of the flat pan should be. Make sure to think about peices that will need maintaining and section it so you can get to them easy. With a couple brackets to give a flat mounting surface, you could do a flat pan with a little thought. Pop rivets would do wonders for most of the areas, id use thread-starters and bolts in the sections that need to come off of course, drilling constantly would be no fun every time you want to service your differential. I dont think itd be the easiest thing to do, but with some good planning i dont see why it wouldnt be doable.
  5. For what its worth vipers also have exhaust above the belly pans. The belly pans are however easy to remove- Theres a series of bolts along the frame rails.
  6. Ya that thought crossed my mind, I already checked hawk and they do offer pads already for the truck the calipers come from so thats a start. Porterfield hadnt crossed my list yet, looks like ive got some homework to do and calls to make.
  7. I think your confusing the term with slotted rotors maybe? Im talking about brake pads for those of us running the slotted 300zx rotors and 4 piston toyota calipers (Vs the stock non-vented solid rotors). All ive got are the pads ross sent me with the kit, but I plan on tracking the car soon and would like to look at my options for something more track oriented.
  8. Been able to find a few set ups for the non-vented but nothing specific for those of us running the vented setup (am i being ignorant in assuming they dont use the same pad? i should dig into this..) . I can find a few basic street pads, ie hawk and the pads ross has (which im currently using), but what other options do we have? In particular im looking for something to rival like hp+ or stronger brake pads, if not a little more track oriented.
  9. Sorry if i missed this somewhere, not still running that SDS are you?
  10. Long story short I plan to do a r200 swap on my 240z soon. Im going to buy a full bushing kit for my car since everything is pretty well blown out and depleted, but a question came to mind. Do the mustache bars use the same bushings? If I buy a 240z bushing kit, will the bushings fit into the r200s bar? Or do i need 280z bushings?
  11. Another question ive been meaning to ask- how large are you injectors?
  12. Mind if i ask where you picked up that cam? And would it be possible to double check the specs on it? Im in the middle of rebuilding my l28et, and now yovue got me considering a nice cam for it
  13. So thats pretty much a stock block with with a cam and some port-matching?
  14. I was leaning more towards the l28 group, however if im down there i will DEF let you know- id lvoe to see what an sr20 z would do. Had it on the dyno before to know what the power is?
  15. Hope we dont already have one of these floating around. Thought itd be fun to see what everyone else does to fund their passion for the money pits we call Zs. Description, pictures, whatever- lets see/hear *Apprentice technician at DCP, aka the viper shop. We specialize in the maintenance, modification, and track prep of vipers. We have our own inhouse dyno- (and have 2 more on the way, which can be used to dyno awd cars now as well) and nitrous fill station. We dont do JUST vipers of course, and will take pretty much anything. Like this rb26 powered 240z (Not mine, as much as i wish i could say so)
  16. Im currently about to build my z car into a turbo car- but tbh im not entirely sure where to go. So long story short I was hoping to make some new friends and meet those whove gone down this path and hopefully get a ride along in their car to see what their set up is all about. I live in the palos verdes/torrance area- and work up in culver/la. If anyones down to meet up and maybe grab a bite to eat please let me know.
  17. Nah not worried about if they produce any more horsepower, i just want to make sure theyre not total junk or have to worry about them falling apart on me.
  18. Anyone heard of this company (perfect circle). Looking at a set of their piston rings on ebay and they seem reasonably priced, but i figured id ask and find out if theyre junk first. Anyone have any other recommendations for piston rings while im looking around? Also wanted to point out the same guy selling those rings sells an l28et piston kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__2-8L-NISSAN-28OZ-280ZX-L28ET-SOHC-PISTONS-81-83-JA517_W0QQitemZ140039555407QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3756.m20.l1116 Anyone have any opinion on these or as before have recommendations for a piston thats reasonably priced?
  19. Ka bump for some update on progress and pictures. If it fits good i think ill def be getting my hands on that kit- looks like it covers the entire thing nicely.
  20. Hey im not sure if anythings been done yet, http://spoilers4less.stores.yahoo.net/70fronairdam.html But this site is worth giving a look. Its only 190 shipped to your door. Its one of those xenon polywhatsits bumpers, as far as i know its the same one theyve got over at the zstore.
  21. Wait, are you saying a Z with 300 whp WONT be able to hit 145-55? And only "feels" like it can?
  22. Hard to tell from the video, the qualities a bit low. But my guess is one of three things. 1, exhaust leak, 2, lifter tick, 3, and pray not- rod knock. Hows the oil pressure?
  23. All the ones ive seen have a flate shipping rate of 85 bucks.
