Holy crap that sucks man. You can make a gasket that restricts your intake manifold down to half size, that may make a bit of torque but it sure as hell will choke up top. May as well set the limiter absurdly low like 4500 or something, it's not like they'll ask you to raise it. A big exhaust restriction will help a lot.
Huge butt plug in the exhaust, restrictors for the carbs, throttle stop, retard timing. Unless this is a 300whp motor, that should be more than enough to get the hp super down.
You want this guide, it's much more helpful if youve got a 20
http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/90784-wiring-guide-for-installing-a-rb20det-into-a-datsun-z/
I used that as a mini guide (with some changes) for mine and it was quite good. I had mine wired in like 20 minutes.
People care this much? I just cut straight through everything 1.75" up. I didnt give a shit about the inserts as they were old and mangy anyways. Just stuck the entire thing in the band saw and let it rip. Perfect cuts, smoothed the cuts with sandpaper, cleaned the area with brakleen, slid the collars over and welded it up!
Yep, you are dead on, it's a 10cm housing/gmc style. Definitely port the gate, most all the mitsu turbos will creep if you are trying to control it low.
Use the Z guide so you know what needs power on the rb harness, bust out the diagram and multimeter and find the appropriate wiring on the chassis side to wire it to. Took 20 minutes for my car, it would probably take you something similar.
I bought mine from jdm engines corp in richardson tx, mine was great. Another local placed called dallas jdm is awesome, bought an sr from them a long time ago.
Litman, yes basically that, I've got a 280, I think it would be cool looking to do each of the four lights with a complete ring around them. Those look sweet though, nice work
Depending on your suspension they'll fit, spacers would definitely make them fit fine, even on stock suspension. I'm on coilovers so I've got a good bit more clearance over stock on the inside.
^^^that and integrating the new alternator into the pass side harness is very simple. Use the datsun oil pressure sender, use your datsun starter/power stuff, and cut/connect the new alternator stuff onto the existing stuff. It's fairly easy, just takes a few minutes and some patience.
Man, the wiring is REALLY easy, it took me 20 minutes to wire mine in/have it running. The actual amount of wires you've got to connect is very low and it's very simple to do. If you need help, post up, we can help you!
