  1. Like mentioned in another thread, a properly tuned Z with standalone can get 30 mpg, even with 100-400 hp. I don't see a real need to use the R180, but it would increase gas mileage. Even without it, as long as you leave your foot out of the firewall and don't run rich, you'll get good mileage. My 81 AUTO ( 3-speed with NO overdrive ) got about 23 mpg at 75 mph. I was around 4100 RPM, and still got that kind of mileage, and the car sat for 3 years. That car HAS the R180. What kind of mileage were you looking for anyways?
  2. Yes, I know we have quite a few topics covering seats, but I don't know if anyone here has come across some Cheap fiberglass or CF seats. ( CF Isn't really cheap though... ever.. =[ ) SO if anyone knows of a site or company that produces them cheaply, I would definetly appreciate the information. Like I stated awhile ago, I am trying to make my car as light as possible while still maintaining some comfortability. Thanks!
  3. For some info. I called them a few minutes ago, and talked to a lady.. ( she didn't seem to know anything about these seats mind you, but got info from someone else ) And she said these seats Will fit in a ZX, Also, It is 37lb PER seat WITH packaging, so to people with a serious seat weight concern, idk whether you would want these or not.. but even at 179 for a pair, you could easily sell them back around for like 200 bucks to some rice kid.. lol, jk jk. ( 20 dollar surcharge )
  4. So here is a shot of my Z chilling in the driveway before teardown. Had to take off that hideous rear window wiper, and removed the electric antenna as well. ( I hate the radio ) Bumperless pic Another shot, but I am going to cut the bottom portion off and just get a fiberglass bumper. ( I don't care about safety! ) Here is a pic of my garage, which is a little empty, and further progress on the Z And here is also a pic of my non egr mani I purchased from BRAAP, I did all the grinding myself, and plugged some vacuum ports, but it still needs work, its coming along pretty nicely though. I am hoping by the end of next week my MSD and Megasquirt will be here, and all the paint will be stripped off the Z, minus the bottom of the car.. from there on.. bodywork! Hopefully I will have some more pics later, but thats all for now. As of now, current performance upgrades are. 82-83 Turbo distributor with MSD and MS 1 V3.0 Tokico struts and springs all around with polyurethane bushings. Swapping from auto to manual after the car is repainted, and will find out for sure if the auto driveshaft will work or not. Till then, the boring updates will continue!
  5. 40lbs a seat? I got excited at first, but I was hoping they would be lighter, regardless, great price!
  6. Ew, honda.. lol. There is one thing I love about tube fuses, I get them dirt cheap, and you can easily tell if they are blown without pulling them out, =]. How is your altenator holding up?
  7. I bought two Aerosol cans of air plane stripper, sprayed it on the car and let it dry.. then I just scrapped the paint off with my FINGERS. lol
  8. Well, I wouldn't buy a plasma TV because they are still not as reliable as DLP or LCD, plus anything 1080i or p still looks amazing in HD or on blueray... anyways.. lol. I guess it all depends on what exactly you are doing, Last time I checked, our cars have classification problems with racing? I just figured with that amount of money you could buy an easier and better car to class, ( there are plenty of cars out there with double our horsepower stock to run with )correct me if I am wrong of course. Back to topic, for professional racing? I agree that these wheels would be an amazing addition to Any race car, and I am sure they are very strong at that, CF is extremely tough if layered and made properly. ( Look at CF driveshafts, some of those are holding up to 1000hp ) But, considering out community, I couldn't imagine anyone buying those, ( Not being offensive in any way )i'd rather take that 8k and swap an LS1 into my Z, or a powerstroke/cummins!
  9. Drill that bastard out, or weld on a nut like mentioned earlier, best bet in my opinion.
  10. LOL, $8000 for a pair of rims?! I'm losing it. I totally agree with Jmortensen on this.
  11. I can't remember who, but it's under upgrade motor carpet kits, first page I think.
  12. I am going to order from datsunstore and see whats up.. been busy stripping down my car.
  13. 200 should be what you have after a bore and rebuild with intake and exhaust, lol.185hp l28et stock.145hp l28e stock
  14. Well, due to my new work schedule, I was unable to strip the 2+2,I just had time to remove all the weatherstripping and bust some knuckles on rusted bolts.I did have time to dissassemble some of my 83zx and move some stuff in today, but besides that.. I got nothing.Pretty boring update.. I tried to upload some pics but my friends computer was being a pain in the ass. Now I have to hang some lights up tonight and maybe bring in a fridge tomorrow, haha.More to update my next day off work! Besides the fact I am going to order my megasquirt this week.
  15. Thats not that bad, but I would rather build it myself.
  16. Considering I am going for the lightest weight possible for a 2+2 car, I will be doing very minimal with the sound system and etc. But its really nice.
  17. I must say, that is quite the watch you have there..... But! Can your watch make you toast?!
  18. You can pretty much remove all vacuum lines off the intake manifold actually, I kept the fuel pressure regulator and power break booster, so you are fine. You might just have to adjust your idle..Any case, this might help you out as well.http://vtunnel.us/index.php/1010110A/ hope that helps!
  19. Well, I officially rented out a garage today, 42' by 20'Tomorrow morning I am putting both Z's in and will be stripping them both down. *thumbs up*Hopefully by the end of the day I will have the 2+2 completely stripped and ready to be prepped for paint. fyi, I AM doing a rustoleum paint job, and I WILL be using a roller. I am very curious to how well it will come out, and will take plenty of pictures along the way.Besides that, I will post pictures of all the parts of the cars incase anybody needs something.

    Gauges

That is the biggest problem I am running into, finding all the gauges that match.. I am honestly thinking of stealing the gauges out of a new toyota corolla, they are pretty sweeeet.
  21. Last time I checked you couldn't do that, just square port heads on round port headers.

    Gauges

Interesting, I still think I might go with the prosport gauges for now, or be a copy cat and get the gauges 280zforce has.. ha ha.
