  1. Seems like a Canadian thing to do... Hilarous.
  2. auto? what tire pressure are you running in the MT's? Those are TINY tires for mid-9's!
  3. I blew mine up last weekend and I need another. prefer 3.90 or 4.11 gears if possible but will consider 3.7 if the price is right. LSD or non-lsd Located in Canada to be up front
  4. At least it was the end of the season and not the start of the season! I must admit driver error is partly at fault as I did drop the clutch too fast. Live and learn. So who has an R200 for me
  5. Got to work on the Z today. George and I pulled the differential. Decided to drain the diff before pulling the cover off since we couldn't get the cover off in the car. Hmmmm Drained the oil and through the 1" drain hole something happened...splash... Took the cover off...something wasn't quite right I think I might make a chain out of this... lol Anyone have an R200 3.90 or 4.10:1? Good times.
  6. what year do you need jerry for testing? I have the red '76 280z (currently now inop, lol)
  7. Went to Cayuga with a friend on Sunday...they were spraying the snot out of the track and the skies were clear. first run launched at 2500rpm after a decent warm up of the tires. hook, bogged down and 12.1@118 with a 1.97 60' hot lapped, decent warm up of tires again, rev to 4500rpm, launch. Hooked and bang.No go, flight pattern full. pulled over before 60' mark if i was to guess. just trashed something in drivetrain. threw it in reverse to try to back up and rocks, grinding nastiness from rear. first thought is bye-bye CV shafts. looked under the car no leaks no broken parts. hmmm. push it back to the pits no problem (forward and reverse). End up starting the car and sloooowly letting the clutch out and it rolls forward under its own power. WTF. Throw it in reverse, nastiness, crunching, bad sounds from under my ass (diff area). Hmmm.. forward, ok..reverse bad. turn car off, roll forward, roll backwards no issues. WTF. Towed it back to Breslau and parked it in my friends garage till I get the new house to take it apart. Now I haven't had it up in the air at all to look under it well but i'm thinking either diff or tranny is toast. just doesn't make sense for the reverse to break when launching in first (i KNOW i was in first). anywho that was my day. long ass day. Thoughts on what the breakage was? __________________
  8. Congrats on #5! Happy and healthy, not much more can be asked for.
  9. unfortunately no. My wife wasn't feeling well (she's pregnant) so I didn't go racing and stayed home. I *may* be able to throw the tires on later this week just for kicks if work is slow. If I can I will still try to get some pics
  10. just make sure to roll the rear fenders (my front tires are 225/50/16's). The wheels in the above are 16x8 with 0 Offset all around, having a +4 or so out back would pull them in to avoid all rubbing IMO without rolling the fenders.
  11. what is your setup? I personally think having accurate information on the cars vital's is well, vital. I like the autometer look (I have 6 autometer gauges) and most people don't even notice the tach/speedo are different than stock.
  12. Yes I have MSA springs on the car. Here it is with my street tires (245/45/16's) for reference of its stance
  13. I have 235/60/15 Drag Radials for the track on 15x8 0offset. They do fun on big dips on the highway though. I don't currently have any pics currently but will probably be putting them on as I'm going racing this weekend and if I do I will take some pics
  14. Thanks for the kind words guys. Its pretty exciting to say the least. I was lucky that my dad was in Toronto from Nova Scotia this weekend so I got to tell him in person (haven't seen him in two years) and he was like a giggly school girl. He was genuinely excited for us (and to be a grand parent again) which was awesome to see since we have had a 'strained' relationship for the last 8 years or so since their divorce. It seems like this may turn things around for him and I which is just an added bonus for me Anyway thanks again, will update as things progress and if I get to find out if its boy/girl I'll let you know jay
  15. Not much can be said to explain our feelings right now. After having lost a baby earlier this year we are happy to say that this little one looks to be sticking around Amanda is 14weeks now give or take so we are pretty excited. Not sure if its boy/girl yet (not sure if I'm allowed to know even, lol) but the Due date is April 2nd This will be our first born. Woot. Exciting times with the house being done in Dec then new baby come spring time. Lots of time to paint the baby's room and get ready for it. Maybe the garage will get painted by then too...who knows! Jay
  16. more updated pictures of stuff. a little random but its getting there. the garage got insulated on the exterior walls and is in the process of drywall today/tomorrow. Further brick has been done as well as the tub has been installed in its location with its skirt.
  17. 353+ lb/ft torque (haven't dyno'd this season was 353lb/ft last yr before more mods which dropped .9s off my ET) Stock open R200 with 3.90:1 gears custom companion adapters with 300zx TT CV shafts Stock 280z stub axles Street tires: 245/45/16 Drag Radials: Mickey Thompson ET Drag Radials 235/60/15 Best 60': 1.7799 on DR's = 11.77 @119.98 MM billet awesomeness is just that, awesome. IMO the adapters a tad high in price BUT they are beautiful pieces and if they were within my budget I would have bought them without blinking. I'm not sure at what point the billet stub axles are needed. I know I'm not near the fastest guy on here but with having a manual and launching via the drop and pound method it shocks the bejesus out of everything and I haven't broke anything this year at the track or on the street. Last year I snapped a stock half shaft (at the u joint) on my 2nd or 3rd run with this method and DR's. My only changes were the companion flanges and TT shafts. If/when I break the stubs I will pony up the money for the billet ones most likely. I personally feel that the upgrade to the Z31 4bolt shafts will suffice for 85% of the Hybrid Z's power levels and abuse. The other 15% are just silly people with tons of power (i'm envious of those people). I would tend to say that most people that are breaking stub axles either had hairline fractures in them from the manufacturing process and 30+ yrs of wear/tear on them that ended up causing a failure. But I'm not nearly as technically knowledgable as others on here, thats simply my hypothesis on the topic.
  18. Hmmm wish I had known a Z was going to the track today I woulda tried to join you in the LSZ that said I hope they prep the track so you can stick a launch! Good luck!
  19. Bare bones would be: JCI motor/tranny mount kit : $300? driveshaft: $2-300? Headers to clear steering shaft : $300? exhuast: $1-800 depending wiring of PCM to power/ground/fuel pump/starter: varies fuel pump- $80-500 depending coolant hoses: $50 intake and filter: depends but $35-100 heater hose: $20 Thats median price of $1700 or so PLUS motor/tranny and fluids I got my motor set for $3k (ls1 and t56 with 40k miles) So $4700 bare bare bones IMO - unless u use factory manifolds and can get a dirt cheap exhuast then you can knock a decent amount from that, but I'm not sure if the stock manifolds clear the steering. Also better hope the stock radiator is up to the job. Then add the technically optional: -make tach/speedo/guages work -better brakes/tires Good luck.
  20. little sample of the stone and brick combo that they started on friday
  21. Well I've slacked off on the pics but thats mainly becuase only rough-ins are being done right now so there isn't much to show but some piping and tons of wire. Today was our pre-drywall inspection which went very well. Only one change on their part and a few additions on ours so I call that a good meeting. The 68skids of brick arrive today and 3 skids of stone for the front skirt too. When we left the mason's were just setting up their scaffolding so I'm sure that by the weekend there should be some progress on that that I can show Woot. Now comes the fun part of drywall and bricks
  22. i am 2.5" off the collectors to single 3" all mandrel bent, no res, one muffler. It's noticably V8 at idle, and at WOT its V8 heaven. Loud but I can talk on the phone when idling so its all perception I guess. Its shake the rear view mirror loud at WOT and anything above 1/3 throttle. I wouldnt have it any other way
  23. well our Z just got into the 11's and I thought that would mean fast enough... nope. Car doesn't seem "that" special even tho it went 11.77 full street car. Its a helluva lot of fun though! But needs more power! lol its a sickness.
