  1. hey guys i'm looking for two 280zx stub axle nuts. have paypal ready, i'm in canada so you'll need to ship north
  2. Awesome information. I know the builder generally pours 4" concrete in the basement. I'll see if they will pour 6" for the middle bay as that is where the hoist will go. I will also let them know about the 3000psi concrete as I'm not sure what mixture they use for general construction. 12' cielings will be my goal, a touch higher if possible but I'm think 12' is going to be the max based on the house/roof line. Electrical should be no problem as well. Thanks again for the info. I will also be cross referencing this with a few manufacturer's websites to make sure all the basis' are covered. Jason
  3. So as some of you know I'm building a house this summer We are at the point of signing off on the details of the build shortly. We have done most of the 'regular' upgrades at the gallery and such. They know that I'm a car guy as my wife (who works for the builder) drives the Z to the office frequently during the summer months. They know that I'm wanting in the future to put a hoist in my garage. I need to tell them what I need to be done during the building to allow me to add one later. I've snooped through some threads on here as it seems that everything in some shape or another has been covered..lol.. I think I saw that I'll need a minimum of 6" of concrete depth where the posts will be installed. I think I have heard that concrete comes in different PSI ratings? If so what rating would be appropriate for this application? I'm probably going to be looking at a 9000lb 2 post lift. Also what ceiling height should I ask for? I'm thinking 12' or higher if possible to get fully under the Z while standing. The units I"m looking at get the lift points to a bit over 6.5' off the ground which will be nice as I'm 6' Obviously electrical to the garage to accomodate it will be needed as well. Any help from those with a hoist or knowledge of them would be welcomed as usual. Thanks in advance Jason
  4. I think its called an "X box" that you are looking for. See this thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=144481&highlight=cable
  5. Its funny I used the 'search' function and was about to come back to post that I found it to be the yellow one from another post. Thanks for beating me to it. Jason
  6. Next question which stock wire in the harness that plugs into the back of the stock gauge is the signal wire to tap into for the autometer guage? Thanks guys.
  7. Ok I had the hood off all winter and removed the torsion bars etc at that time. Being spring and wanting to put the hood back on I can't for the life of me remember how the torsion bars go back in and hold the hood up. i feel silly, i even looked in the owners manual and it says to remove then and then re-install in the opposite manner...lot of good that does for me. lol anyone care to shed some light on this for me? Thanks jason
  8. my uncle is in military intelligence (yes us canadians have a military) and I've eaten these when I was younger. It was fun for us as kids and my parents didn't have to cook. I remember it wasn't that bad either. I laughed my arse off at that story btw, just awesome.
  9. Ya I know the whopping 2 100w bulbs are useless. My mom has one bulb in her single garage and its like a candle... I just don't know what I'm going to do, multiple 4' 2bulb lights or go for the 4bulb 4' lights etc. I know I'll want one just for over the bench as well as 'space' light. I guess time will tell what I do. Just got to figure it out so I can budget for it.
  10. I work in residential HVAC so I will have the heating/cooling taken care of I'm going to do a natural gas radiant space heater so toasty warm. Not sure what I'm going to do for cooling, but we do the ductless split systems and I'm sure I can get one for it that will have enough BTU's for this area. I'm definately putting a bench and going to get cabnits for the rear wall, I have a friend in the wood working business and can get cabinets pretty cheap which is a bonus. I am going to have it pre-wired for 220v for when I upgrade to some nice tools. Also have cable wired in too, lol. I think I know where I'll be living primarily, hehehe. Evan; I'm in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
  11. Well we finally signed off and are having the new house built. My wife got most of the control on upgrading the 'house' and I get to do some things to the garage. We did do the insulated garage doors by the builder as it wasn't that much of an upgrade for both doors to be upgraded. Our builder however does not insulate the exterior walls of the garage. They only insulate the shared wall with the house. That leaves me with 3 un-insulated walls to deal with and cold, COLD, Canadian winters. brrrr. This is something that I will be doing myself during the build so I don't get charged by the builder to do it. Its 2x6 exterior studding so I'm thinking that I'm going to go with an R22 batt insulation for the walls. This is what we did in my friends new house but he is only just in his house now so we don't know how warm his garage stays. I'm thinking R22 should be good enough for the garage though, thoughts? Also I don't have any experience with the sound/fire insulation. I was thinking about using it but dont know how well it works and if its worth the extra expense. We have a 3 car garage so we are looking at about 700sq/ft of walls that need to be insulated I think based on my last guess assuming they do 10' ceilings throughout. I know the first bay will be min. 10' as there is a walk-in closet over it but the far two bays could be higher if I ask (I kind of want to in the event I want to put a hoist in down the road, droool). I have a man door to the back yard as well as a 3'x3' window for some natural light as well (no neighbors to the rear as we back onto greenspace). The biggest thing that I'm lost towards is proper lighting. I am getting two 100w light bulbs. Generous I know. This is something I know nothing about other than I need light, lots preferably for the size of the garage. (see attached pdf if interested to see it all). I am looking for something energy efficient as to keep long term costs down as I see myself being in the garage a bit Any other ideas or thoughts would be awesome. Thanks guys britannia cres plans.pdf
  12. I went with the taller aspect ratio up front as I went with a narrower tire than out back. With the widths and ratio's staggared the overall hieght stays similiar front to rear.
  13. I'm using 245/45/16 out back and 225/50 up front. i'm going to switch to 225/50 all around though when I get a chance to mount my new tires. I'm also using 235/60/15 drag radials for track use. I need to roll the fenders as those do rub a smidge over bumps in the road when I drive on them lol

    Big news!

Thanks for the kind words, and support. I'm already proud and we are excited to start our family. So far all the family and close friends we have told have been very happy for us and positive which is nice. Will tell more as we know more.
  15. Well I finally get to share with you guys/gals the best news I could possibly share with anyone. I've shared quit a bit with this crowd (surgury, house selling) and this dwarf's it all. I'm going to have my own little Pit Crew this winter My wife and I are expecting our first born Nov 14th, 2009, or so they say We are super excited and at this point were told we are just over 8 weeks along. Still a long way to go but still excited. So this fall we will have our first and take possession of our new house around the same time. I'm excited to say the least. Talk about a lot of change in the last 12months for me, surugry going well, full recovery, sale of house, new house and now get to add new family to the list. WOOT! That is all, continue with your day
  16. You can see the top of the fuel press. reg and the braided lines coming into and out of it right by the strut tower.
  17. Well mine finally arrived. I did not buy the "plenum" that bolts on to it as I don't plan on ducting in the dash vents at all. I'll just "Y" or "T" them to the unit itself (I'll probably build a plenum myself out of something for them to attach to). I, too, am looking to reuse the stock connections at the firewall and the rest will be K.I.S.S.
  18. Ya I was a little surprised it went quick but we priced pretty aggressively and we cleaned the house from top to bottom and it literally looked like a show home by the time it hit the market. The company that did the virtual tour commented to our agent that it was one of the nicest homes they had done in a while. We take great pride in our home and it was, in a way, tough to sell but a necessary evil. On to bigger and better things!
  19. Well after a long 10 days on the market my wife and I had competing offers last night on our house. In the end we got exactly what we were hoping for and even more important to us was that they are taking possession April 30th so we can get out and start saving extra cash towards our new place to be built. My first ever usable single garage has been sold, the wonderful epoxy floors will be missed dearly. Thankfully we are building something a little nicer and the Z will get its bay The attachment is the draft of the new house, the left half is my half, the right is my wifes There are some details added in that aren't on this copy like my 3'x3' window in the garage and some other things but you get the idea. britannia cres plans.pdf
  20. I certainly will get pictures as I get things rolling.
  21. Well I bought my Z in 2006 from a great guy in Florida who forgot to mention there was no functioning heater in the car. Doesn't matter much to a Floridian, however to a Canadian thats a big thing. Since then I have done lots to the car but never put a functioning heater into the car. Yes this made some trips in the rain a little, ummm, interesting. That said my wife can clear a windshield with the best of them now Today I figured I'd resolve that problem. I went to summitracing and purchased a Mojave universal, auxiliary heater. I don't have it yet but my plan is to mount it under the dash and just hook up the windshield ducting to it. The primary use will be defrosting (the old blower didn't even switch to the defrost setting, making it TOTALLY useless) but will give sufficient heat to make the cabin comfy in the cooler mornings that either my wife or I will be driving. Since she takes it to work a few days a week and she leaves early it'll be a nice ammenity for her, I can deal with a cool jaunt personally Since I'm not using the stock vents I've created a new panel that will house my stereo, a volt gauge and my shift light in its place. Looks pretty good thus far, just need to get a finish applied to it to make it match the dash a little more. Will post pics later when I get something more accomplished. Cheers
  22. ya, firebird/camaro LS1's. There are a few members that have used the fuel tank then just modified the neck to fit as you said. I *think* they are all the same throughout the years but I'm not 100% positive off hand.
  23. Go fuel cell if you need to replace the tank. The F-body gas tank also will fit as per the LS1 installations, nice thing there is a new, more accurate fuel level gauge can be had
  24. We all have the ups and downs. Its just the nature of the beast I think. Unless you have unlimited time and $$ which few of us (if any?) actually do. I'm 26 working full time, married, she works full time and its a rollercoaster. I call it life. Our Z is what keeps me optimistic with all the negativity thats out there. Rain or shine, good or bad with the Z its still a privilege to even have it so it makes me happy. I haven't driven my Z since November of last year and I honestly didn't get much accomplished over the winter, not in comparision to what I had planned anyway. Further to that my battery died and I cant start the car right now, also no hood on it and my interior is in a few more peices that expected It'll get put together, I'll buy a battery and life will go on. Its nice to open the garage door and see it there when I go to grab potatoes or onions to make dinner. The smell of the garage with the car (oil and gas smell) makes me smile most days. Life is interesting for my wife and I right now, we have our house for sale in a rough economy and want to build our dream home. There are lots of factors that are working for and against us. #1 interest rates are AWESOME right now and the poor economy is getting us a GREAT price on the new place. On the other side of the coin is that I got pulled into a meeting with my boss and was told my #'s are down and I need to get my ass in gear or else I'm out. I'm 100% commissioned and no contract. Think I have some pressure now? lol. I'm also the primary income for my house and I am the one that would have to pull the plug on the new house that my wife designed and has been planning for the last 6-9months. Ask how great of a feeling that will be when/if we have that conversation. I'm a tad stressed about it. In the end there are greater things than Datsuns and houses. family and friends. in the end I am very blessed (I don't use those types of words usually) with what I have had in my life and the people that I have in my life. I definately have a joyful life and am quite happy most of the time. For there to be some bumps in the road is just to add some flavour and to test my (our) fortitude towards success and that joyful life. I know I will overcome these 'tough' times and so can anyone else with the right attitude and support system. HybridZ helped me a tremendous amount at the end of last year when I was scared for my life with a Kidney removal surgury. I even had a local member take me out and talk to me to put my mind at ease. These are the people that are worth more than anything else. An open ear and a thoughtful comment are priceless. This is the place to be for me. With or without a Z. Good luck and I'm sure everything will workout for the best no matter what you choose to do. Jason
