  1. here's a bizarre car It's mid engined! (dunno what kind of engine though)
  2. Old, but always amusing. I bet they're glad they have a full cage.
  3. Nissan must've put a mini flux capacitor in there somewhere. How else do you explain it going that fast and weighing nearly 4000lbs
  4. Don't you mean camber? Caster has nothing to do with the rear wheels. Caster effects your steering on the front wheels. it's what causes your wheels to return to center on their own. if you had zero caster, your car would be horrible to drive I would think. I know the higher your caster angle, the less responsive your steering feels, and I know this first hand with my bug. we had to increase the caster to make up for the suspension geometry when we lowered my bug. the downside is the steering feels more sluggish. my dad's ghia (which basically uses the same exact front end/steering) didn't have the increased caster, and the steering felt very direct and responsive. caster on the rear wheels as far as I know, has absolutely no effect on anything. in fact, I don't think you can add caster to the rear wheels since you'd end up tweaking your lca
  5. you're only changing the TRANSMISSION, which is a totally different part from the DIFFERENTIAL. the speedo gear is only dependent on which rear end you're using. not the transmission. oh, also r180/r200 doesn't matter. only the actual gear ratios inside (that is, if you're changing your diff as well as your transmission)
  6. from the looks of it he was joking with them at first about using it to beat them, but the stick is a hood prop XD
  7. most likely. as far as I can tell, Nissan made one style of exhaust system for the 280z's but on no catalyst models, they simply threw a resonator in place of the cat. But I'm not 100% on that, I'm mostly going off what I can tell from looking at things. btw, just running that center resonator sounds AWESOME on a Z haha, I'm almost tempted to just have a "test pipe" made up to go from the resonator to the back.
  8. they could be for cooling of some sort. I get the idea with the A pillar attachements. I think with some VG's in front of the windshield combined with the a pillar rails, it would reduce the amount of spillage over the sides of the body. in that case, the drip rails could actually function to reduce spillage from the roof as well.
  9. THAT is the style of Gnose I like, minus the clipped bumper lol
  10. I would think the stock clutch would be more than sufficient for those sort of numbers you want. The stock 240mm clutches for the older Z can handle quite a lot of abuse.
  11. the only difference between a swap in a 2+2 and a coupe would be driveshaft length. a 2+2 is only different from the door back, so really the swap is exactly the same as with a coupe
  12. Haha, well it might be tricky since the car itself would be a very plain, stock looking metallic beige Z. Not a hint of that trademark red that ship was known for. then again, it was only known as the XGP15A2 until it was painted
  13. that's sort of why I mentioned integrating it into the stock grill. it won't really pop out so much.
  14. Hmm I don't know what I want for a custom plate, but I THINK I can do "XGP15A2" which no one would understand unless they knew the show Outlaw Star. The new plates that are out now are REALLY annoying me. I noticed a car with it a few weeks ago and thought someone had badly printed out an Arizona license plate. but NOPE. it's like they're getting lazy and not stamping the letters/numbers. However, it still has teh little holographic stamp in the middle of the plate.
  15. You could build the ducting out of some rubber molding, and pop rivets. it's not like you need to know how to weld. But I do understand your dilemma of wanting to keep a visually stock car. you could make it LOOK stock though, by say, turning the top grill into your block off plate, and riveting some duct work to draw air in from the bottom half of the grill.
  16. by ducting, I think he means blocking off a portion of the front of your car. it SEEMS to be illogical, but from what I understand, By having such a large opening, at higher speeds, the pressures inside the engine compartment increase, causing the air in front of the radiator to stall and slow down, reducing the cooling efficiency. By reducing the size of the opening, you reduce the amount of air entering the area, BUT at the same time, you reduce the pressure in the engine bay, so instead of pushing air through the radiator, the air gets pulled through the radiator due to the reduced pressures, and increasing the cooling efficiency. Ever notice how small the front opening is on newer cars? In order for it to work the front of the car needs to be totally air tight except for around the radiator.
  17. they had some pretty good suggestions but they forgot one. the ECU is crap when you want to start adding good power. So that basically throws out being "cheap" out the door (but fast and cheap don't really go together haha) you could do some mild modification to make it slightly faster, but in my opinion, the stock ecu needs to be ditched for an aftermarket like megasquirt.
  18. I like the gnose, but it needs a different airdam to really look "perfect" to me. I like the AritaSpeed gnose, but the flares are a bit too big for my tastes.
  19. that's the Arita Speed wide body kit
  20. the only dashpot I know of is the little shock absorber that's on top of the throttlebody. I can't remember exactly how it works, but I think it's supposed to make the throttle slow down just before it closes. There's no vacuum port or anything for it though.
  21. LOL I can assure one thing. Everything in that engine is name brand....NISSAN that is.r. Those' SU's must be like, hella bored and sheet to get that kinda mad tight powerz ya? I will say this though. Those spark plug wires sure are nicely bundled. Much better than my mess... (haven't bothered to uhh...tidy them up)
  22. I should take a picture of this focus someone owns at my apartment complex. I haven't gotten a good look at the front, but it LOOKS like he bolted a WIDE BODY airdam to the STOCK body. meaning, the bottom of the airdam is flared out like, 6+ inches on BOTH sides, and curved slightly upwards, from bolting the top of the airdam to the stock fenders. oh, and it looks like he sucks at parking, because it looks like he backed against a wall and scrubbed the rear corner of his bumper. Lots and lots of cars with crappy exhaust systems. But I tend to hear a lot of scoobies around. I saw a really nice looking late 90's impreza, probably a 2.5rs judging by the body kit. sounded REALLY pretty, and driven by a pretty lady probably in her late 20's. actually, I have 2 fears about ricers. One: That they'll rice out a WRX/STI (haven't seen one out here...YET) Two:They rice out an S30 (If I see one, I WILL BRUTALLY MAUL THE OWNER)
  23. Actually, they are purely for aerodynamic purposes. Ferrari actually REMOVED the covers for a canada race because they CAUSE brake overheating issues. they're "brake ducts" meaning, they fit within the rules for brake ducts, but they do nothing to aid in cooling the brakes. they only modify the airflow going around the wheels.
  24. I KNEW that Z looked familiar haha. another member forum was looking at buying that one a few weeks back. Looks like you jumped him and got it first! So how's the rust look on it? rails in good shape? I was curious to see what kind of shape it was in
