  1. Some strokers will need to have the bottoms of the bores clearanced. On mine, I had one rod big end that touched the block. 0.100" clearance is good, IMO.
  2. I was referred by local bud Dan (74_5.0L_Z). I had heard of hybridZ, but, being an L6 Turbo guy, didn't at first look beyond its V8 orientation. X2 - Damn you HybridZ for ideas and examples causing me to expand the scope of my project to beyond crazy!!! I also met locals Scottie and ZGad, among many others including James (240ZTurbo), through HybridZ - You know, those hooligan gearheads that wives are suspicious of as being bad influences. Great site, great people.
  3. X2 - My TEC3r install grows closer as the Buick motor nears completion.
  4. I am not a fan of ZGs or any other bolted on flares. So, I say, "Bond on and blend in." Go for the smooth look.
  5. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118128&highlight=Holy+Injectors I really need to stop giving posts cute titles so topics can be found using search. The engine for this setup is still in jail, so I can't report any results yet - However, I think staged injectors are the perfect answer for big injector requirements., and the TEC3r is definitely up to the task.
  6. Welcome back, Mat - Don't let me beat you to it....
  7. That is my car with Paulo's prototype spoiler installed. I'll try to get some better pictures of the nice straight production version on there now and post. That may be in a week or so - I'm out of town until 3/3. It's still not painted, will look much better when it's the same color as the car. I chose this style because it looks to be a compromise between the big whale tails that were seen on some ofthe more successful Datsun race cars (whose styling I was not what I was looking for), what I've "heard" the S30 needs aerodynamically, and what IMO looks good with my body mods. Stay tuned.
  8. Actually, when they were filming Apollo 13 at Kennedy, I did get to shake Tom Hanks' hand so the answer is yes, smart ass. And, for a period of time before that I worked for one of the real Apollo 13 astronauts, Fred Haise, after he had retired from NASA and was the CEO of Grumman Technical Services. We could get him drinking beer and telling stories about that flight.
  9. BSEE somewhat diluted by 25 years in management. Currently opted out of management at United Space Alliance (A Joint Lockeed/Boeing venture doing Space Shuttle Launch operations - 12,000 employees at several locations), now a night shift Lead Engineer in a Space Shuttle telemetry lab in the Launch Control Center at Kennedy Space Center. We process and display any/all of the more than 10,000 measurements transmitted from the Shuttle to its ground systems to support Flight Systems Engineers' tests and troubleshooting. I'm an Air Force Viet Nam veteran, started in the Space Program during the Apollo program in 1968 as a Telemetry Technician. I was at the Ascension Island Tracking Station processing/transmitting the astronauts' moon suits' telemetry data for Apollo 11. I worked the later Apollo and Skylab missions at the Bermuda Station before coming back to Stateside locations in Maryland and Florida. When I grow up I will run a shop specializing in fuel management and turbocharging, in a facility that will contain a chassis dyno and pictures of half-naked women. I'm currently developing this business (licensed as Speedtech in Florida) as I build my 401K to the point where I can leave the bureaucracy of government contracts and the idiocy of big corporations behind. My next goal is to be the first 60+ year old man to win the Silver State Challenge unlimited class in a 30+ year old car.

    Q. What's the difference between an ass kisser and a brown noser? A. Depth perception. Preach it, brother!
  11. 1tuff, I've been looking at snow cams of the Tug Hill trails - looks awesome. This is an annual trip - My Florida son and I go up and meet my New York son for sledding, beer drinking, and sh!t talking. Good times.
  12. In about 3 weeks I'll be up in the Tug Hill/ Turin, NY area for 3 days of snowmobiling. Looks like conditions are shaping up! Big change from our 70+ degree florida weather - Fun to play in but I wouldn't want to live in it and have to put the Z away for months out of the year.
  13. This is true - I produced datalogs comparing a ported (60mm TB with welded/enlarged TB inlet + runners matched to head port sizes and enlarged/smoothed to about 4" in) to Thagard's intake with no tuning changes - We did see a .7 leaner AFR at higher revs - over 4500 or so. This is with a well- ported head and a 290/280 duration, 480 lift, 112 lc cam. That can translate to a big horspower increase. Dr. James posted the charts here way back when he was trying to sell manifolds. He finally stopped producing them when people began to question the cost, and will probably verbally abuse you if you ask if he will make more. Absolutely heed the advise above to first have a head that will be able to utilize the improved flow of an aftermarket manifold. Some of the TopEnd Performance head work was quite good.
  14. I had just gotten a speeding ticket the day I was trying to think of a screen name.
  15. Muahaha! But probably not as spectacular a way....I never do anything haffass.
  16. Yup, Porker gets a real motor. Got to do something about that fat.....
  17. Here are some pictures of the intake for my twin turbo Buick Stage 2 engine project. This is an ex-Busch Grand National manifold, modified for fuel inection. With a goal of 1000 whp, I fear that the required injectors would be too big for any kind of low speed running. Hence, 2 sets of 6 - 85lb injectors, the second set coming into operation at a certain rpm/boost as controlled by my Electromotive TEC3r. This setup will be fed by two Aeromotive Eliminator fuel pumps pulling from separate fuel cells with 1/2" hard lines up to the fuel rails- the secondary cell will contain race gas for street use. That's a 1550 cfm progressively linked 2-barrel Throttle Body- I'll probably have to replace the carb hat's inlet tubes with bigger ones but will wait and see after the whole thing is flowed with the heads. Now, If the machine shop will EVER get done with the motor, I've got the top ready to go after being powder coated.
  18. What I said. I hear that the Bucknuts are getting consolation prizes from Victoria's Secret. Overrated sissy biatches that they are.......
  19. I have Weld Pro Star Wheels for my drag setup. A 10X15, 5.5" backspace will fit the rear - you will need pretty big flares to cover... My fronts are 6X15, 3.5" backspace. The key in the front is to find a wheel with very thin rims (large insde diameter) to clear the front calipers. Before I bought wheels I got the spec for the inside diameter to make sure. My tires are M/T 325/50-15 DR Rear, Hoosier Street Rod 28X6 front. I have Ground Control coilovers and the AZC 5-lug setup front and rear.
  20. Fixed my sig - The old flares were indeed the MSA "IMSA" parts.
