  1. go on youtube and search "Nismopicks l28et rod knock" or something like that, does it sound like that?
  2. You guys should all post and motivate kevin to start this beast cause it hasnt been cranked over yet!
  3. Try throwing a new/good battery in there, my l28 will run like ♥♥♥♥, if at all when I have a battery that doesnt hold good charge in it.
  4. Figure this out yet? did you check your TPS?
  5. Hey I think I would actually be interested in that BOV, send me a PM and we can work out details and shipping ect. If youd like anyways.
  6. My shiter was cut in the middle (not at the bend) and then welded together, and ground smooth, it pretty much feels awesome, I cant stand stock Z shifters, its like driving a truck.
  7. Hey guys thanks a lot, I didnt even think about ordering a single replacement, But it looks like I am going to just use 1 of my other head bolts, I REALLY need my car right now so I will just have to hope it works... anyways, Im putting the head back on now, should have her running tonight, unless I run out of energy, in that case it will be tomorrow, thanks again guys. I miss my Z! cant wait to be able to drive her again!
  8. It was broken before I got to it, I found it when I was taking everything apart. I havnt even started to put anything back together yet, just finished cleaning the block and head surfaces. I lost motivation for a bit, but then my headgasket came in the mail and I figured I had to finish it. So anybody else have any opinions about reusing head bolts? I could just have all ARP and one old bolt, idk.
  9. SO all but one of the ARP head studs was loose and threaded out by hand, yes, the studs. One of them was broken in half... The gasket was blown but not as bad as I was expecting. The only good news is my pistons and other internals are fine and my head doesnt looked warped. Looks like Im going to have to reuse some of the head bolts off my other engine, I know this is frowned upon but Ive searched and people have said that it isnt all that bad. It will only be temporary and Im not even going to reinstall my boost controller. Im just so pissed, why is it not one thing can just go smoothly!!! not one damn thing.
  10. I think my car is very ratrodish for now... Manual conversion, turbo conversion, Dirty looking engine, exhaust piping for intercooler piping, open DP, rattle can paint. Ill post a pic later today. All go no show! (that will all end soon, Im painting my car the next "Mod"
  11. Hey thanks everyone, Im about to pull the head off right now, just taking a break to say that my wood timing chain holder works! so far anyway... Im going to be on the road again soon! everything is going well, But I have no clue how people say they can change a head gasket in 2 hours...
  12. Alright thanks everyone, wish me luck, todays the day, I think everything will go smoothly.
  13. Been searching and one guy tied his timing chain to the block with zip ties, sounds easy enough, but people in that thread called it a bad idea. hmm
  14. Im not even sure what shape to make it, how tight does the timing chain need to be? the top part can have slack right?
  15. Is it one of those ebay ones? If not Id be interested, any pics?
  16. I have one, not sure of what I NEED though. hmm... Ill get back to you on that.
  17. So Im going to be putting in my new head gasket on monday or tuesday, but I have never done this before, I feel pretty confident and know about TDC and all that, I just dont know what to do about the timing chain during the process, I know that you have to keep it tight and not let it fall. I know there is a tool for this but I dont have time to buy one, A friend of mine who has done this before said he tried making one out of wood but it failed and he had to tear down the front of the engine... do you guys have any advice for me on this matter? pics of what the tool looks like, maybe I can jerry rig something up?
  18. You sure its oversteer? For some reason with what you are describing Im imagining understeer.
  19. Im not much of a track guy or a fabricator, but the only thing I can see making a difference would be engine mods... for instance, Im putting mine on the passenger side because I have my intercooler piping on the drivers side... I believe stock Zs had them on both sides, at least mine did, I would imagine mounting one to the original location couldnt be a bad idea.
  20. Yeah I have some experience as KAT's as well, a friend threw one together awhile back, pretty much a half *ss build, but that thing pulled very well, the ebay turbo leaked, the couplers wouldnt hold, and the top end didnt feel to great... but with all that in mind I was pretty impressed. Same guy is doing another KAT build only this time its legit, actually we just fired that car up a couple of days ago and it sounded great, just waiting for a driveshaft. Im pretty excited for it. Expect some KAT vs. l28et vids!
  21. This scares be, I had detonation and it was LOUD, I hope when I pull the head off in the next few days all looks fine, Either way though, I have a spare bottom end in good condition... Oh and I take back what I said earlier about the head temp sensor, you can just plug it into a water temp sensor on the thermostat housing. The knock sensor only works I think up to 3.5k rpms, and its usually at wide open that you have problems so it doesnt help much anyways.
  22. You dont need a knock sensor, but you do need a head temp sensor... Im not sure whats up with your throttle linkage, maybe your missing a piece? post a pic.
  23. Ill post a pic of mine too some time, Ive go a black one as well, I love it.
