  2. Running old Turbonetics H3 which is at 18 psig is about out of air at 410 RWHP. Config is old BAE turbine inlet pipe with wastegaste flange using Tial 38 mm. Cam is mid turbo grind with peak power at 6250 RPM. Motor is 170 ci L28. Turbine is on center inlet. Target is 25 psig boost (550HP). Got fuel and drivetrain to match. Thinking of T62, but using OC hsg will cost me 15% loss spool, so they say. Not sure. Or I use the stock L28ET exh manif with a T3/T3 flange adapter into a GT35R or T62 with tang scroll hsg to help spool, but the T3 is restrictive. Which is less compromise? I like the idea of just using the OC hsg, since don't have to change much, incl new down pipe, but may not be worth the cost of a new turbo for lack of spool. Max power would be better. Really would like header turbo manif with ext wastegate. Does anyone still make these for the L28? My bud want's me to go 1JZ, since wide availability of aftermkt parts, but don't want a bastard. What do you think?

    Bad Vibes

    I am having a fierce drivetrain vibration at 90 mph after Z31T CV joint upgrade on my '77 Z. Suspect CV joints obtained from boneyard. Anyone?

  11. My turbine inlet pipe by BAE is very similar, except the wastegate flange is welded direct to the casting, rearward between the flanges. Works great, but have never compared to any other. I plan to use the L28ET manifold with the GT35R, but will have to adapt for external wastegate.

  13. Completed MM 300ZXT CV convertionon my '77 280Z and bar hits shaft. Anyone have a solution? Which bar will fit? Are there shorter end links?
  14. Oh good. We suspected diff after observing similar shudder on our drag car. How could drive shaft be malaligned. Hey, maybe it's bent? Naw, then it would vibrate all the time. Will replace half shafts and dif lube and advise results.
  15. My clutch type LSD shudders under high torque - 13 psig boost at 5K RPM - about 350 ft-lb. Bad vibration. Just replaced clutch, but did it with old clutch. We will replace UJ half shafts with 300ZXT CV type and repl diff lube. Always had minor vib at top end. This is severe, like something may come apart. Not speed related, only shudders under torque. All suspension parts bolted tight. Using diff snubber on nose. Anyone experience this? Does my diff need rebuilt? Which part?
  16. There you go man. You may be running too small turbo for the boost level and it is heating the intake air and/or imposing too much back press and heating the exhaust. Look at your compresor map. Measure your turbine back press. You can open your exh to remove some back press. What is your exh back press?
  17. That would leave 0.020" pinch on fire ring, a bit much. I recommend you use no more than 0.012" Try using 0.032" SS wire and glue in with superglue.
  18. I used the proposed red hole with no problems. Depth was less than 1/2". MSD knock detector ith GM sensor.
  19. Building up N42 head as replacement and need these parts. Need head ready to go without having to swap parts. Aluminum retainers originally from Tilton designed for 42.5 mm outer spring height. Need 6. Spring cups fit stock outer spring OD but using Isky 7005 spring set. Braap?
  20. Recheck the short hose between the head and heater core. I had one develop porosity from rot that only leaked under high RPM. Visible inspection revealed tiny holes when streched, simulating expansion at high pressure. I once had this hose burst during rev through gears. Also suspected head gasket failure and later determined this hose failed.
  21. I am building a N42 head and am considering recirc lines on cyl 5 & 6 as posted here. Any caveats? I will recirc both to Tstat hsg. How thick is head? Do I need to weld boss to provide sufficient thread engagement? AN6 big enough?
