  1. damn....now that`s what hotrodding is all about
  2. ive noticed mainly 80 thru pres. GM cars and s-10 trucks have balljoint problems and yesterday my 94 s-10`s drivers side LOWER balljoint let loose(instant lowrider) luckly it was in front of my house!!! ...i`ve owned my 68 nova for 15 yrs. and never replaced the lower balljoints,in fact i would go so far as to say they`er original. (always had them checked) i`ve never seen a 60`s-70`s car with a broken balljoint i know they happen but it`s not a common problem with them.why are the 80`s-up SO inferior to it`s 60`s-70`s counterpart?...is risking lives on an item as important as a balljoint worth saving a few pennies? i admit i ignored the signs....at 30,000 it started poping and i couldn`t find the problem i had everything checked including the balljoints everything was fine even stopped driving it for a while.turned out to be a bad drivers side shock.now at 85,000 same noise same reactions with the truck everything..."oh it must be a bad shock again i`ll keep driving" so anyone driving a GM car or s-10 truck with upper and lower balljoints check them often...i do a lot of highyway driving and i go about 80mph on there and i shutter to think what would had happend if it went at that speed.
  3. well that`s just great.... i guess one more infomercal to watch when i can`t sleep
  4. im thinking about coilovers and ran a search...and im interested in the strut pin removal tool.how can i get one?...mark
  5. what type are these rims...i have them on my 72 240 but i can`t find them anywhere.i`d like to look into a set for my 73 240.....thanks mark gold center rims
  6. it`s not that AC plugs suck,it just depends what motor they are going in. GM...AC crys/dodge...Champions ford....autolite/motorcraft (same thing) imports...NGK ive tried different make plugs and have found the make the factory uses is the best. keep in mind this is what ive found for performance motors...for instance Autolite plugs won`t last a day in my big block nova but will last a long time in my STOCK 72 240z automatic and they both take the same plug.......mark
  7. im a chicken also!!!! i know two people that had it done (both women by the way...i know doesn`t help my case)and everything worked out fine.but i still think eyesite is too important too mess with unless it totaly gone to the point of disabllity.just becaulse there`s a malfuntion doesn`t mean it`s broke.....besides women dig a guy in glasses.
  8. hotrod did something like that a long time ago to a caddy stripped down to the frame.it had something to do with a highschool auto shop class.ran early 12`s
  9. a couple weeks ago you calulated my rear wheel horsepwr to be 262 from my time of 12.9 @105...im just wondering would my new time of 12.69 @105 on drag radials change the horse calulations...thanks mark
  10. don`t tell me the accountants messed with the books.
  11. Andy, that would be great! I`ll be glad to give you any info you want......Mark
  12. hey com`on guys give the kid a break....at least he made a wildlife preserve that would made lepords feel at home...
  13. if your intersested i posted my new 1/4 mile times w/new drag radials with comparisons to my street tires in the "im tellin ya" section....thanks mark
  14. Hi all, tried out my new 215/60R14 g-force drag radials today at test&tune knocked about 4 tenths off my time 2wks ago. (2wks ago.average 13.0 w/best 12.92 street tires)....today average 12.73 w/best 12.692)all runs today were still the same as last time at 105mph...best 60` today was 1.799 with most in 1.8 range.best 60`s were achevied with a little burn out and dry hop and little to no stall walking out.....today also very felt very humid (temp info wasn`t on time slip this week)and everyone was complaining about going slower becaulse of it.so i might have squeezed a better 12.6 or even a 12.5 out of it. just to recap what i have....73 240z 400sbc stock w/flattops,LT1 cam and 830 holley on a castiron intake....turbo350 trans...r200 w/3.54. im hoping in cooler weather to crack 11`s with just a victor jr. intake and some tuning....mark
  15. like the new 575m ferrari maranello. instead the 350z looks like every other new car on the road same no style.wasn`t the 240 styled like the ferrari?..wasn`t it as sexy as the ferrari?...and didn`t you want to drive one when you saw it?.....ad`s keep comparing the 350z to the 240z....and it`s no 240z....one thing i do think the 350z would be good for is parts for my 240z (it has a LSD)......look at the new M/T issue and compare the 350z to the fararri and you see the mistake nissan made.......mark
  16. your right ported vacuum( above the throttle plates....and on the side of the metering block on holleys)should have little or no vacuum at idle and become stronger with acceleration.sounds like you have a bad metering block gasket... a tip:at least with the older gaskets.rub liquid soap on them and they become reuseable and seal better.....the holley new blue gaskets i don`t think this tip applies, haven`t worked with one so i really can`t say.....mark
  17. first let me say i agree 100% on saftey but as far as the muscle car guys. i think it`s a comfort issue and not really a saving weight one. with the "muscle car" we grew up with and have driven.these cars have been around us for a long time.we know how they will act in any given situation (at least we think we do)we feel safe with the body surronding us becausle it`s been proven to us time and time again through out the years.everyone has had an acceident in a 60-70`s car, probabley moms car when you were a teenager.a brake or suspention upgrade other than factory seems like a waste of money or it`s for someone that wants bragging rights.becaulse these cars came with v8 high horse motors. now the comparison. did you grow up with z cars?....i didn`t im 32 and just started driving them last yr.do you honestly know what that car will do in a accident?how it will behave to avoid one?...i don`t...let`s face it we drive around in small, compact, very light, very fast even with a stock 2.4 let alone 300+hp beercans.now do you honestly and completly feel safe in one?(remember it`s compact in there)...i don`t...but do you like to drive it?....hell yes i do!!!...that`s why we spend a good amount of money on safety so we can have the comfort level were accustom to. now keep in mind this is just my take on it.since ive been bitten by the z bug i haven`t driven my nova in almost a yr......mark
  18. i bought the cheepest one from summit branco??? something like that it was around 50-60 bucks.i like it does it`s job and it rebuildable....i think they are all the same b&m,hurst,TCI just seemed to overpriced to me.....i hooked it up to my horn with a 2way switch that way when i line lock i use the horn button on the steering wheel.
  19. i don`t think ECU`s work that way anymore.i need a scan tool to clear my 94 s-10...from what i understand OBDII tells everything from emissions to your everyday driving.im sure they made it as tamper proof as possable im not saying it can`t be done just won`t be easy...one things for sure it would take a computer wiz to figure it out....put away your wrench and bring out your laptop....the times they are a changing.....mark
  20. hey guys, the main thing about performance tuning is don`t get too technical and over think things.the best tool you`ll ever own is the seat of your pants!...ALL cars have a different personality and just becausle it sayz it in a book dosen`t mean it`s right.....and don`t always trust your insterments either just use them as referance...i once tried getting technical and relied on a timming light instead of my senses turns out the brandname light was way wrong in the area i wanted it to work!....never again!...my uncle has a 11 sec motor running 13`s...overthinks everything and just won`t listen!!! he`s put 4 cams in and swears their ALL ground wrong #1 open in #6 position (180 deg. out)i`ll tell you what`s out is he`s dial in`s!...relies on a manual for a STOCK motor...performance are not stock settings! remember use your senses you`ll learn a lot more. oh and about the cams....with computers and quality control the way they are now dot to dot (sbc)are 99.0% what the cam card sayz anyway...my uncle refuses to put it dot to dot!!!....mark
  21. has any one tried these yet?
  22. cool thanks mike, and i`ll let you know the comparisons when i get it on the road...mark
