  1. Thats haulin the goods there boys! The wife must have been driving! Great job guys.
  2. A Sonata? Will go 150mph? I dont believe it!
  3. ...is a local shop here in Birmingham.Pretty nice guy when I went there for a header a several years ago.Its small shop that as I recall does mostly premade mail order stuff. Not much on custom installation. I do know a local guy who is a race car chassis builder that does excellent work but you would have to r&r your own interior stuff.Nix Fabrication in Adamsville Al is the name of the shop. Also,Probably one of the best welder/fabricators in the U.S. is here local also. His name is Walker and he did Mark Rolston's RB26 Z for example. He will kill you on price, but hey, you get what you pay for and he is a good guy. He used to own J Taylors car I think. Good luck Warren!
  4. So what did you score them for? I've been trying to get a decent deal on a pair of those for years, you lucky dog..
  5. OK heres mine American Racing Longboard Wheels 17" x 8.5" .245/40 Nitto555r on back,225/40 Goodyear F1 on front.Coilovers and a little rub in rear when accelerating hard with a passenger.
  6. At least State side anyway.I saw the car in Atlanta a few years ago at the Z-car convention.I think it was in the 1st issue of the former Z-car magazine also.I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was from California, but I just dont recall exactly. It was the 1st Z I ever saw with ITB's and he had several progams completely tuned for max H.P. ,max mileage(somewhere around 30mpg as I recall) and a program for "spirited daily driving". Pretty much the standard all other engine bays are judged by IMHO.
  7. I did a bit of searching but did'nt find a quick answer. My pal Dave just brought me a nearly new 6 speed out of a 07' Nismo 350Z.Its a ZF unit I think.I was talking to a Nissan tech buddy of mine who said the newer 6 speeds were much better than the earlier ones with the 3rd gear issues and that they had very few issues so far with the new ones. I still have the VH45 sitting around.I saw a VH to 6speed adapter plate for sale over on the NICO forum, but I can't post over there.Whats it take to put these two pieces together? Clutch and flywheel bolt up to the vh45 I assume? Custom starter mount maybe? Feedback appreciated!Mtcookson...?
  8. Whats the old saying, "if you have to ask?"....
  9. UPS will look at it a determine if it was damaged in shipping. If it was, they will pay for it,either to repair it or replace it.I doubt it was damaged by shipping and more likely was broken at a seam before you got it.That being said,a good TIG welder can fix it no problem.Guys modify intercoolers all the time.If you want, theres a guy local here in Bham that is one of the best aluminum guys I have ever seen. But he aint cheap. Also,I have a friend that just took a water intercooler assy off his car.He sells his used stuff cheap too.He changed to alky and dont need no stinkin' intercooler no more.Let me know if I can help you guys in any way.Steve
  10. That car ,until a month ago, belonged to a aqaintance of mine.He started with the Vette diff only and a shortened to fit rear mustache bar.He was destroying halfshafts at will.He had custom HD axles built.Started breaking stub axles(like he did at SEZ1).Installed some Cryo-treated 280Z stubs.Could never launch the car without breaking something, but he was hell from a 30mph roll.A few weeks ago,I see the car again. Its on the lift. The rear diff housing(the gear case part) is broken in half.Needless to say, when it let go,it tore up most of the custom parts at the rear of the car, axles, diff mount, mustache bar etc, etc,.Sonny, the owner, had broken it,got pissed, sold it broken to a friend of his for 16k.The new owner had it fixed within 2 weeks. As far as I know, its back on the road.A real nice car and a good deal for the new owner. The moral of the story is,if you are going with an independant rear end and plan on launching the car regularly, you can expect some breakage.Ind. rear ends work great for road cars, not so great for drag cars.Although members here have done much development and improvement, there still is not a real "bulletproof" set up,at least for any senseable amount of money.Sub 1.4-1.5 60' time put huge stress on the rear. With Turbos and and auto, you will likely not be stressing it quite so bad as the Clutch Dumpers, but add a big stall converter and/or a trans brake and you're in for breakage.Just my .02cents...
  11. I may be able to help with a few things.Where is the car at,I'll take a look.
  12. Looks like you got a deal there Ted.You'll be knocking off V8's again in no time.I bet the GTO was a bit to pay for anyway...

  14. Sooo, who won the combined score FZA challenge thingy...?
  15. Check your dimmer switch.Pretty common on our old Z's.If it is the problem, you may want to look into adding relays.I think somebody here is selling a plug and play kit that takes the electrical load completely off the headlight switch. It makes the lights brighter also by virtue of getting better voltage to the bulbs.Good luck.
  16. Man,that last post ought to be a sticky all by itself....
  17. That looks just like the sunroof that was in a car I had a few years ago.It was made by Prestige.I did a quick search and found they still have a web site. You should be able to get a replacement glass and hardware from them.I would think they will need measurements and/or pictures to I.D. it.Good luck!
  18. I could recommend a shop here in Birmingham Al that will do a first class job...and charge you a first class price,if thats what you want. They will be more than happy to locate the drivetrain for you, handle the transport, all the details. But be prepared to PAY.If you have combat pay burning a hole in your pocket, there are any number of shops around the country(I would assume),capable of doing the conversion.Location i.e."central Texas"should not even be a concern to you.The 700-1000 bucks it costs to transport the car will be chicken feed compared to the overall cost of the conversion,so find the shops in the country, not the county, that can do the job. You see where I'm going here? Any shop willing to do it and do it right will have earned a reputation by doing jobs like this.To do it correctly takes a sharp team of people, and sharp people get paid and get paid well.Joe Schmoe and his brother-in -law get the car and the money and you get what you paid for, crap. Count on 70 to 100 hours labor minimum@ anywhere from 75 to 100 bucks an hour for competent techs to build your car for you from running L6 to running LS1-2.Add the price of parts from there and "while I'm at it's"and suddenly you got 20k plus in the project.I am sure no-one here wants to slam you,me included,I appreciate what you guys are doing over there, but building the car you are talking about is gonna hurt dat wallet! Tell me you got the car and 10k to get started and I will seriously get you some names and numbers.Good luck with your project!
  19. I dont think its an age thing, thats just the year this state started issueing titles. Its been 74 for as long as I can remember.
  20. As far as the title thing goes, you only need a bill of sale on a car older than 1974 in this state.you can have a title issued, but it is NOT a requirement.Believe me when I say I have bought and sold dozens of cars in this state, mostly old Z cars.I personally think the car has some potential if the chassis is in good shape.Sell off some of the body kit parts and put it back to original form.240Z's of this serial number are few and far between and prices continue to climb.Just my .02 cents.
  21. That is truely one of the most retarded products I have ever seen.Right up there with the stick on fake bullet holes.
