  1. well i broke down to spend the 16.95 on a year subscription to all data... pretty cool stuff but cost like 36.95 for a year!!!!!! and its not color coded.. but..... gives the clip numbers.... so I'm good now;) after i figure out which is soft, normal, and firm...lol.. i know it wasn.t hard to tell the diff. i love firm.... but the drags love soft.... so...
  2. ok color code would help... but i think igot it figured out..... orange wire is hot, reason being its the swithced wire, and goes to ignition fuse on the diagram.... now I don't know which of the other 3 will be wich, as in soft normal and firm because..... my switch, and switch harness burned in my garage fire(along with just about everything else I own... and I don't know what resistance i should use, and when I tested it it was zero resistance????? because looking at the diagram they have resistors in place?? i don't wanna try and straight wire it and have it be wrong ya know.... so any help would be apreciated, I used to reference the autozone one but its been down for a while now... but i want this done by may 17th!!!! i'm fine with it till thn cuz I can't run on the street..... and drags want the mushy mushy for the launch.....
  3. is it just me or is that angeling way down in the back??? looks like how my lexus motor looked in my 300... that would be hell on the ujoints of the drive shaft!! maybe its just me....
  4. ok lets see where to start... 1987 300zx na 5 speed turbo conversion turbonetics 60-1 hybrid turbo liquid intercooler pathfinder intake methanol injection welded differential electronic suspension solid motor, tranny mounts and a bit more...... pic with the modified hood, radiator vented to remove turbulence from under car, and raised approx 3.5" to clear the path finder intake;) look at the pretty liquid heat exchanger:) so what do you think? I'm thinking about adding a few more touches, such as side vents? I'm the only person who's done any of the work on any of my cars, and I kinda like it that way;) soon to come mods, since I'm currently running stock junkyard motor fidanza fly wheel act clutch ( 4 puck, unsprung) jwt valve springs and obviously the cam, probably schnieder... i got a megasquirt but figure the 300zx's main limitation is the afm, and since I don't think i need over 18 psi i don't see a need for aftermarket ecu and with the stock fuel curve, and methanol fuel should not be a problem... and since timing i'm told timing for the z31 after i believe 11 psi maintains 17 dbtdc so that shouldn't be an issue either....
  5. let me be more specific.. heck if someone wants to pull the switch out of the center and see which wire has power supplied to it!!!!. got the ground to the controll unit all wires are collor coded to the shocks so i got that right.. the only wire that was left Im afraid I energized the dimmer and popped the bulbs.... not sure please help!!!!
  6. ok I got a electronic suspensionfrom a 84 300zx it worked in that car, I removed and installed it in my 87 300zx na..... cut and spliced all the wires and it worked great.... while i was sick of the rats nest so I rewired the whole thing;) when I did the indicator bulbs blew???? now Im not sure if it works:( can anyone point me towards a z31 wiring diagram???? preferably color coded, autozone got rid of there old system and the new one keeps telling me unvalid???? ugh...... please help!!!!!
  7. thank youu very much I appreciate the actual answer to my question instead of a poke poke now if i can get the triggar angel Ill be all set!) i got what I think will be a good safe base tune for my setup.. and will gladly be posting all my write up once its up and running !)
  8. ok so go with what was claimed by numerous other people since I am trying to install a engine management system and bought it fully assembled as to eliminate that type of frustration... but as for schooling i would rather aim my schooling to other thngs to help my car run better be faster smoother corner better and be all around better than trying to cram $h!t i don't care about.... I got an iq of 128 and can't spell for my life, don't care much about electricity for the most part either... but got a slight bit of knowledge of car!) and that wasn't in my intelegent quota wtfe test..... hmmmm
  9. ok heres one why use only a 1/4 watt resistor as a pull up for the ignition signal from dist. foir megasquirt, and not a full 1 watt????? i have a 1/4 watt 1k resistor, and a full 1 watt 1k resistor.. the guy at radio shack saidyep thats a bigger one cuz thats a watt.. ok so let e guess this is a smaller one cuz its a 1/4 watt... oh and you get more cuz there both 99cent and one you get 2 and the other 6 wow mr radio shack you are a pelithora of knowledge and i'm a genious who can't spell lol dur..
  10. engine management will be megasquirt fuel and spark direct coil fire boost controller option installed 4 bar map just got a few more things to figure out... like how the trigger angles are set and thats about it then install an tune.....
  11. both are 240mm worked on my 83 280zx turbo t5 tranny and my 84 300zx turbo with a t5 its supposed to work from a 81-83 280zx turbo, 84-87 turbo 300zx, and an 84-89 300zx na.... but apperantly it doesn't work for the na... now Im wondering if anyone knows where I can get a clutch disc that will.....
  12. ok lets see here is a list of what I'm doing 95 pathfinder block crank rods and heads 88 stock nissan brand new turbo pistons sealed power rings, main and rod bearings fet mls head gasket hand lapping valves jwt valve springs msa stg 2 turbo cams turbonetics 60-1 liquid to air intercooler methanol injection act clutch fidanza alluminum flywheel pathy intake 60 mm throttle full turbo back 3 inch 2 flow masters one mid saction and one just before the outlet... figuer I can remove the 1st and just run down pipe for drags things Im lacking clutch disc I got an 87 300zx na tranny and the disc that was supposed to fit (also fits 84-86 turbo & 280zx turbo) the engagement is off and it won't slide on the shaft its like it butts up to it???? the stock one is def higher or longer deeper however you want to say that.. I used to be able to find a good disc for 100 now I can't find one???? any idea were there still at?? and I ran a similar setup only cheaper pistons in my 280zx and was running 24 psi until I decided to slap my nitrous kit on it i was golden.... oops but now better fuel management !)
  13. ok its gotta be a relay or somthing, if i hook power to the hot side of injectors i get it running... back feeding the fuel pump couldn't be good.... anyone know which relay is bad ;(
  14. ok here is what i found near the firewall on the engine side of the the engine harness there is a 6 pin connector with 2 of the pins covered so that can't connect to the only other 6 pin I see around it which is plugged into another and the colors match on both sides of the connector... now im forgetting shoulda wrote the stuff down... but i think it was the 6 pin connector one is black and are red with stripes green, yellow and black i believe(same collor as the injector wires ;( but i see no connectors around for it to plug into... last but def. not least there is a 2 wire red pretty heavy connector one side has like 4-6 volts and readily drops off to near 0????? maybe thats what it is any help would be greatly appreciated if i knew how to upload pics i'd take some and do it but i am computer retarded lol...
  15. sadly enough I got one i havent gone thuroughly through it but alot of it.. gotta get a pin read out to finish haven't had alot of time with the cold weather out, and it just happened 2 weekends ago, and I am trying to swap my sisters escort motor at the sme time, and not get too hung up since Im gonna convert to megasquirt.;....
  16. yes it was running fine this motor this harness this ecu... went back a few days later and now Im here..... ugh... Ive diconnected the entire harness and reconnected it a few times.. tested so many spots for power.... oh and I tried jumpering power to the fuel pump.. it doesn't help the injec. not firing.....
  17. ok here is what I know and what Ive done. removed the fuel line no fuel comes out, no fuel comes out with the engine turning over, or for the primeing the injectors do not inject, or activate,(noid light tested) i have a distributor to check stuff quickly under hood with out cranking. have checked distributor thats on th engine tried 2 other known good ecus, well they were good whats the chances of 3 ecus going bad when 2 where in my bed room closet...... so any help??? wanna have it running just to have it running to move it around, prior to megasquirt instal.....
  18. ok I have an 87 300zx non turbo converted to a 84 ecu etc turbo... it ran bfore with the old motor (84 300zx turbo) but i just put in a different motor, and it did run and now the fuel stopped working all together, no pumping, no injector pulse nothing.... this motor ran, any hints to which relays or plugs that might not be hooked up properly would be great help Ive tried searching and everyway I word it I get 280zx z31 ecu swaps... ugh.. any help would be appreciated
  19. go back and read my first post... the more you do it the more you do it in less time, and easier..... i was saying just that... i figured it was more of a reassureing comment that it gets easier.. and that turbo change i did was in my buddies drivway.. hahaha and yes that was me laughing at you because you attack my every post... i never once judged you.. i didn't say i was better, never even hinted towards it.. sorry if you thought that anything I said was intended in attacking you it wasn't..... i am a very passionate person when it comes to cars.. i love to hear storys about this and that about what someone has done is going to do or anything like that... please keep that in mind... good luck on your project.. I hope its more than you ever expected it to be (as in twice as good)
  20. pop the steering shaft.... hahahaha forgot all about that.... hahahahaha yep pop that off no problem.. and its benn done on both my 84 and my 87, both the t3 turbo..... and the turbo netics 60-1 4" inlet... hahahaha way bigger than stock.. either by far.. hell the stock turbo compressor just about fits in the compressor housing.,. lol........ and my turbonetics could not fit even with the valve cover off from the top side, just so you know....... man i swear and also the motor had been out and whenit was everything was reassembled with antiseize.... bolts come undone years later still ith ease... and like I said car was running with the stock t3 and 3 hours later had a turbonetics 60-1, new intake piping, and a new down pipe all made, from scratch...... and as for looking good... hell no look like ♥♥♥♥ sound like ♥♥♥♥ .... holly ♥♥♥♥ look at that peice of ♥♥♥♥ fly..... muahahahah........
  21. no it was 3 hours about, on the ground, fabricated a new down pipe.... and intake lines... and internal wastegate mount.. still not impressed.. i'll get my 300 back together, and remove and install the turbo mind you the larger turbonetics 60-1 in under 45 minutes.... would that be impressive and as for finishing my thought. i stated that i removed and installed a turbo without removing the engine, or rocking it.....
  22. not to ba an ass... but from under the car and slight hand from above Ive removed a stock turbo(little itty bitty guy, and replaced with a turbonetics 60-1.... clocked the turbo and everything..... idk maybe I just love this hobby, but I also remove the engine and replace bearings and reassemble in about 5 hours when i was in love with my 300... and the passion sparked again.. got a 95 path motor in the garage today.. removed all the exhaust studs, drilled and tapped 4 that broke.... romoved the oil pan replaced the pik up screen..... blah blah blah... started today at 8 o clock hit the junk yard and now thats where I am....... the more you do it the more you do it in less time, and easier.....
  23. well lets see here. the engine as far back as can go ( against the firewall)the lower sump is just about centered over the crossmember, and the rack. and the engine would sit about 2 inches above the hoodline.... and thats resting on the crossmember..... and the engine is at such an anglre the driveshaft would point at the ground......... so i guess ima have to wait till i start project 1uzfe 280zx....... because I don't want to custom make the rack and pioin (longer tie rods etc incorrect angle resulting in cranking the whell to turn a slight corner..etc.. im trying to do a budget build so i guess to the junk yard this weekend to get another 3.0.. unless theres a 33 anyway other option to cut the firewall and place the enigne way back in the bay.... no room for heater though... and what about the exhaust.... so its settled its going in the 280
  24. ok heres a start.. just like the title says. 1987 300zx i have a turbo and nonturbo cross member... but I got the v8 on my garage floor right now all the wiring etc... had it running in the lexus with the only wires going throuhg the car was the fuel pump and level sendor... so i have every thing needed to put it in the car and have it run.... but the drive shaft..ahhh so ima have fun sourcing that.... I havent really found too much info really on performance upgrades, other than a small handfull of I can't afford stuff, ya know... i figure i'll use my 3" manderal from the origanal turbo for the exhaut.. yeah its single but I already have it... its got the stock tubular exhasut manifold, so I donlt think i need the headers yet.. obviously gonna put a higher flowing intake piping... ooooo..... also gonna put a better set of coils, iridium plugs, and some good wires.... I eliminated the hydrolic pump for the fan, the ac pump, and the power steering pump... little weight, and freed up the rotational mass..... so I have thought of my turbonetics 60-1, ive thought of nitrous.. heck even my punny little m62 supercharger.... but idk...... 10-1 compression.. what about get a set of spare heads, port and polish them, and mill 25 thousanths for about 11-1........ boy idk....... I also have a megasquirt but this has 2 different coils, and idk if the megasquirt can handle that task.. although it does foir rx7???? then Im still stuck with the automatic slush box that is electronic controlled(please someone tell me that didn't start till 94, as this might be a 93 model year...... anyway... so the work is cut out as i may need a new smaller brake booster, can we say manual brakes lol... probably not a good idea, I got the upgraded 2 pistons on the front for braking too.... anyway... anybody think the swap will work.. also no universal on the drivshaft yoke as in no slip yoke.... thats what is gonna be tricky about the driveshaft.......
  25. I think in general the 3" would let out more noise but more of a grumbbly lous, as to where the 2.5 would rasp alot more and sound higher compression so to speak...
