  1. Will do. I did read his thread on how he installs them so I'll be extra careful (don't forget those valve stem condoms!).
  2. Cool, I'd be interested in something like this when I go EFI for sure! Hell, something like this might make me want to switch to EFI given that I like the design.
  3. "Built-in" ITBs? Interested in how that works...
  4. What's wrong with the guide at atlanticZ? http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/1803105
  5. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours..."
  6. What makes you think that something happened to the clutch? I'm a bit confused here...
  7. Already got a possible source for a crank thanks to the local network (thanks Leo and Kyle!). The parts are beginning to trickle in...
  8. Thanks Randy! This one is supposedly polished, balanced, and still wrapped up. No receipts though, I'm not sure how long it sat, if it's been dropped, etc. I'll be taking a look on Saturday and go from there. Of course, I will keep you in mind in case there's something glaringly wrong. Is yours just a good, used crank?
  9. I've discovered one through our local Z-network (thanks Leo and Kyle!) which I'll be taking a look at on Saturday. Thanks for the PMs so far!
  10. Would've given you one for free if you were local. Good luck!
  11. Strike a few things off the list... - Regrind rockers (shipping off to Delta in next couple of days) - sourcing 2mm/0.080" cam tower shims (considering making these myself or buying from Derek) - sourcing longer valves (SI has great prices) - low profile valve stem seals (FEL-PRO SS72686 bought on ebay) - figuring out my cam and springs, lash pads may need replacement (Isky) - Head gasket (will probably get Fel-Pro) - Manifold studs (MSA) - Manifold gasket (Rockauto) - Valve spring shims (TBD) In the meantime, Jim sent me some head gaskets to use for piston-to-head and valve clearance checks (thanks again Jim!). Also, the machinist called yesterday to inform me that the crank needs turning, as the journals have rust on them. I'm now on the lookout for a stock L28 crank in good shape (posted a WTB ad here). I've got some local guys on the lookout as well. If I can't find one soon, I'll have to get mine turned and balanced. We'll see what happens...
  12. Looking for a stock L28 crank in good shape, preferably local (San Bruno/SF Bay Area) since these things are heavy and are probably expensive to ship. Plus, I'd hate to receive a damaged crank... My engine is at the machine shop and the crank has rust on it, thus requiring turning and balancing. If I could get a crank that's in good shape it would save some time and money. If not, I'll have to have my crank turned and balanced.
  13. Yes, that's what the proportioning valve is for.
  14. 1. That is friggin awesome!!! 2. That's one hell of a cam. High RPM powerband and better suited for racing than street driving. Degreeing will be difficult without a cam card but you did your work and had Isky profile it. Now that you have the specs, why not set it up again and see what you find? Have you read the cam degreeing sticky? BTW, what octane were you running/plan to run? Will this be a street or track car?
  15. Wow, great work! I wouldn't be ready to commit now, but would definitely be interested in the future. It's nice to have something that was actually engineered rather than haphazardly pieced together. I can appreciate the effort you went through. You may already have it, but Fred Puhn's Brake Handbook is a worthwhile read.
  16. Dear god, that is not the kind of Z you want to get if you're willing to come to CA! You should be able to find one without any holes or cancer with relative ease in the drier climates. Tony summed up the "refundable" deal well. No point of putting in a deposit if it's refundable... I hope you have some money saved up... That kind of car won't be cheap. If that's what you want and can't settle for a later car, when you find a car ask the seller for detailed photos of all areas that you would actually inspect and try to get a forum member out there to check it out for you. If it's to your satisfaction, put down a deposit and fly out.
  17. I've had a check mailed to me as a deposit for a car. The guy came 2-3 weeks later and picked it up. You have to build a trust with the seller to be comfortable. Talk to the guy on the phone. If any part of you has doubts, don't do it.
  18. I'd be surprised if he answered since that post is 6.5 years old and jaime240z hasn't logged in for almost a year...
  19. I like the soft-line idea, also curious about implementation.
  20. Yep, I've begun seeing ads as well... I'll gladly donate more if it's needed to get the ads away.
  21. Looking good, Matt! This is the fun part. I should get a capture of my map...
  22. Awesome! That's exactly the setup I've been thinking of going with on my green car. Do 225/50-16s not fit? Any fender lip modifications? Got any more pics?
