  1. I also agree, that Z looks like it's already on lowering springs. BTW, good luck finding decent tires in those sizes!
  2. I did the same thing earlier this year. I'm only on my 4th Z-car but it was the most expensive one yet - $5k for an early 260Z roller that was almost finished but not quite. Came with literally a ton of great parts. Ok, I didn't weigh them all but I wouldn't be surprised. After adding it up, it was a fantastic deal. No way I could've gotten that car to where it is with anything near $5k. My god, I was wondering when I'd hear this. I need to make a trip to Tony's yard, ASAP!!!
  3. My bet is on an electrical connector getting damaged, destroyed, or left disconnected during the exhaust install. Did you have a header put in? That's a more involved job than just replacing the exhaust pipe and something could've easily been left off or knocked loose.
  4. Mustache bars pop up here and elsewhere, usually $50-75 a piece. Same deal for the diff side stub axles. If you already have the driveshaft that came with the T5/R200 combo, all you need is the mustache bar and axles to complete the swap.
  5. Good! I'm not much of a steak fan but I'm always down for some sushi or Thai food.
  6. I bought these rims from a guy in Livermore so I hope that they're not actually your brother's stolen wheels! See you there, Jim.
  7. There's a ton of great advice here, and you (along with any other young and future engineers) will get some serious benefit out of re-reading this thread a few times! I will add one little thing regarding your search for a summer job, put yourself in a position where not only can you learn a few things that'll pertain to what you want to do but also to network with people that can get you into the right places. For a while, I naively thought that most people get jobs by finding an opening and submitting a resume... It's way easier to lock down a position by knowing someone who knows someone.
  8. So you charge it with a battery charger and it loses it's charge by the next day? Replace the battery.
  9. I don't understand changing cams just to get a sound. I bet you'd be satisfied with a header and duals. My Z has a stock cam, triples, header, and dual pipes:
  10. Nice man, by ambitious I mean you're getting big jobs done quick. I love that you're bringing the orange car back to life, can't wait to see it! BTW, damn Ray, you have quite the "collection".
  11. Needle valve is stuck. Tap the offending carb's float chamber with the handle of a screwdriver and see if it helps.
  12. Right, he's not very clear, and I don't think he even implies that R180 and R200 input flanges interchange. With that said, that site is more of a primer for those starting to learn about Zs. There is a good bit of misleading and erroneous information on his site, so don't treat it like gospel. Putting in an R200 requires zero "custom" work. It's bolt-in as long as you have an R200 mustache bar.
  13. Cool Jim, it would be fun to chat. Taking the Z to JCCS is in the plans, I'll just have to talk it over with the fiancee (will be "the wife" by JCCS time!). I've actually been selling off my rims, I had 4 sets of 14" rims at one point! I still have 2 sets of slots, one set of 14X6 and the other 14X7. The 7-inchers don't fit within the stock fenders though. The funny thing is, is that the other set I have is almost just as you describe! Here they are mounted on my first 240Z: Besides those, I also have a set of 14X6 turbine-style wheels. I just wish there were decent tires for 14 and 15-inch tires. The lack of tire choices have me looking at 16s. I'll probably be boring and go with another set of Panasports unless I find a wheel that works well with the green color and vintage motif of the car.
  14. Amen! "Hey honey, check this out! Pretty cool, right?" "Get off your forums and spend some time with ME!"
  15. Where exactly does the guide clearly state that an R200 input flange is interchangeable with an R180?
  16. Is your MJLJ set up yet? What do you have left before "take-off"? I remember reading that you were close to finished.
  17. I like the 14-inchers, wish there were decent tire options out there. I will hopefully be at Long Beach this year. I went last year in the orange car and I don't think I want to put myself through that again... It would be awesome to meet up, will you be taking the Z to the show?
