  1. That's what it cost me! Good luck in your search! There are some other nice options for LSDs though, including buying a Quaife (or OBX if you want cheap, just search for installation procedure) unit and installing it yourself or getting a Subaru R180 CLSD and using John Coffey's axles.   2. Good question. The LSD is from an R31 Skyline, it was imported by a prior owner (it might've been done by Dave at AZC). It is a longnose R200 and is therefore a bolt-in if your Z is already setup for the R200. I haven't yet checked if my driveshaft fits the pinion companion flange, but the flange can be swapped for the one in my 3.9 R200.

  6. Almost forgot, I'm in the process of cleaning out the house and garage and I didn't know what to do with my headers. Even the fiancee likes it! Don't think I'll get away with putting them up in the living room though...
  7. I also finally got some time today to work on the Z! Played a little bit with a new-to-me differential: I don't speak Japanese, but was curious about these characters It's a 4.375 CLSD R200! So, my next big project is going to involve dropping the exhaust, tranny and diff in preparation for some changes. Before that, I want to go back to the dyno to see the changes made by the header/twice pipes. I'll be putting in a new intake/exhaust gasket, the Fidanza flywheel, stock Exedy clutch, late ZX 5-speed, and 4.375 diff. I'll be doing all of this at the same time, so the Z should feel quite different when I'm done! I finally got the seat install done today. The seats are very comfy, but I'm not sure how long I'll keep them since I do sit a bit higher. They sure look nice, but pictures will have to wait until tomorrow when there's better light.
  8. On New Year's Day, I went to the "Anti-Football Run" along with a few other guys (a couple of them from hybridZ). It was a fun event, even though I was going on 2.5 hours of sleep, consisting of a nice cruise in the North Bay with a ton of other classic cars. I snapped a few pics for your enjoyment!   9. Huh, looks like the 'F' may either be a typo on the site or the P79 ('81-'83 NA ZX) came with an 'F' or 'K' cam. Anyone ever see a Nissan-stamped 'F' cam? It seems that a 'K' cam also came on the L24E (Maxima). You can measure the specs to be certain.

  12. I assumed you had one already. In that case, you can use a ZX E12-80 distributor with ease or even a 240Z unit with some creativity.

  14. No, swap the engine over. It would be complete lunacy to swap harnesses. Nothing is all that different regarding engine electrics. Maybe a couple of minor issues will crop up, but wiring on the carbureted S30 is very simple. Think about it. When swapping the L24 in place of the L26, all that is really different in terms of required engine electronics is the distributor. The 260Z was the first one to get electronic ignition, so use the L26 distributor on the L24. You won't have EGR anymore, so its related connectors will not be used. Both have externally-regulated alternators, so there shouldn't be any differences there. If in doubt, put the L26 alternator on the L24. This is very easy and downright simple, at least compared to any other engine swap into this chassis.
  15. Reference the wiring diagrams from the 240Z and 260Z diagrams. It shouldn't be difficult to do, so swap it over and see if you have any lingering questions. My 260Z currently has an L24 so I can help if you run into issues.
  16. Yes, it's just simple geometry. Pie pieces? Do you mean the cuts used for the sectioned bends? Here comes that darn geometry once again. Take the angle of the needed bend and divide it by the number of sections you plan to use. If you angle both sides of the cut then divide that number by 2. It's that easy!
  17. I think Jon means ARB? This is true, but considering that rear bars are smaller than fronts and the rear LCA has 2 rod ends (as opposed to 1 on the front LCA), I think it's OK.
  18. I'm 99.9% sure that the arm is not threaded, since it's slotted and as Jon points out, there are jamb nuts on both ends.
  19. The easiest route to take is the Pre-Bent Lines from Classic Tube. It's an expensive option, but that's what plug and play will cost. If you're bending/flaring them yourself, stainless lines are not recommended as SS is stiff and not as easily pliable as other brake line materials. I've read that people like to use Cunifer Lines since they're easy to form and flare. This option is considerably cheaper as well. Of course, there are other options in between the two, such as buying pre-flared lines and bending them to match the shell. Good luck!

  21. That's exactly what I was going to say, so I'll just second that statement. Acceleration will add bending loads but those threads are pretty beefy, and I wouldn't worry about it unless you were running a ton of power (even then you're probably ok). Braking loads should be much less significant since the front end takes up most of that. It's not a bad arm design, and although the rubber bushings do introduce some (possibly unwanted) ride compliance, I wouldn't consider that a deal-breaker.
  22. Give Todd at Exhaust Works (in Belmont) a call. He knows what he's doing and is a one-man show so his overhead is low, thus his prices are the best I've seen. He did a twice pipe exhaust (L24) on my Z last summer for $300! His number is 650-591-7062.
