  1. Very Nice! That rear shot makes it look so much like a Sunbeam Tiger. However, it said nothing about the rear-end
  2. I would love to have $11K and a rust-free 240Z. I think I could put something together for that They are hard to find, but you should be looking for Weds Autobahns, 15x7.
  3. Haha, 300ZX hubs. That little extra bit of detail helps. I hope I am wrong, but if these are genuine Cobra rims, I would double-check the offset and not take the seller's word for it. I get that all the time with my car. Question is, are they thinking 944 or 911? I hope someone is planning to bring a videocam to tape the activities. I have an inverter in my car so no need to worry about batteries running down.
  4. Before you buy those, double check the offset. I am almost certain it should be 36mm which would make the BS 5.9+" requiring more than just a "shim".
  5. Welcome and you have come to the right place. Search around for sss510 to see an awesome L28ET/510 swap.
  6. Interesting responses! Based on some of them, I should be asking for a spot. After all, low-tech, low-revving pushrod V-6 with a little "hairdryer" in a heavier car VS hi-tech, OHC, TT, NOS, open exhaust in a lighter car. Hmmmm.
  7. You should only wrap the headers if they are stainless steel. If they are mild steel you can have them coated.
  8. ...and the new setup has gone how quick? No you won't because this old fart does not street race and besides, what would that prove? You want to prove something on the street, let's see who gets better gas mileage BTW, how much of an advantage do you think the transbrake gives me?
  9. This is what I am doing now, but thanks to the wonderful 1st-gen design, the vented fumes are being sucked intothe car at speed with the windows open. I just got a 2nd-gen RX-7 charcoal cannister and I plan to feed the vent line into it and run the vacuum line through a brake booster check valve to prevent boost from getting into it.
  10. Mike, if you were planning on going up north after the AL event...... Question is, what is the size of the package and if too big, could you strap it to the roof for a 1000-mile trip?
  11. Yes he does. I knew I should have gotten it unlisted I know what you are doing. Trying to psyche me into laying you a spot?
  12. Pete, amazing that we are so much alike. Like your list of guitarists and I would add a couple of my all-time favorites to that list: Al DiMeola of Chick Corea/Return To Forever fame and Joe Satriani ("Surfing with The Aliens" one of my favorite albums). I too hardly listen to music except in the car and garage and in the garage the radio is set on classic rock too. I also listen to (used to) a lot of New Age with Jean-Michel Jarre, Ray Lynch and Vangelis my favorite. Vangelis is best known for the the commercialized "Chariots of Fire" but that is so far from his real work especially some of the works he did with Jon Anderson (Yes). Despite the incredible live shows that Jimi put on, he was not much for on-stage performances and travelling. He would have preferred to spend all his waking hours in Electric Ladyland just jamming and writing. That explains where all those studio albums came from after he died. The drive up to Montgomery will give me some time to listen and reflect.
  13. 3" I/C plumbing would make it believable but those are not 3". Look at the hot side pipe and you will see it steps up in size twice. Now look at the TB side. 3" = 75+mm which would make for a huge TB but look at the how the pipe is fitted to the TB. A 150mph drag car needs brakes but a parachute is required at 145 so decent brakes will suffice.
  14. I have been avoiding a response to this post because I hate to question someone's claim w/o having all the facts. However, here are the "facts" as I see them. Assuming this car is street-driven, I will guess at a race weight of 2,600lbs and a 9.63 @ 147 requires about 640rwhp. Less weight, less HP, etc. If the engine made 738rwhp, then it has the capability of running 9.20 @ mid-150s. Is the L6 capable of 738rwhp? I do not see why not, BUT, it is going to need a LOT OF HELP with exotic bolt-ons, i.e., engine management, fuel system, I/C, turbo, etc. I do not believe the claim of using the stock computer and I wil dispute the claim if the engine in question is the one pictured. Here are some of the things I see that make me skeptical: size of the I/C plumbing, size of the fuel rail and fuel lines (I am guessing that is a -6 return with a -8 feed), Single turbo running only 24psi to make 700+rwhp could not fit under a stock exhaust manifold, TimZ is correct in that he sees a cannister and rod for an internal wastegate.
  15. EXCELLENT THREAD! Mike, you are dead on. It is the total package that counts and yes, I am happy Mike's original post and some of the responses is the basis for a Z supercar recipe. I would love to see it refined and made available for all. Many others can benefit from the basic concepts but since it is missing guidance on stickers, we would be omitting a very large faction
  16. If you go up on the 15th you will be a tad late . Snake, come by the track tomorrow night. Orlando Speedworld, i.e.
  17. So that was your BOV I heard on the other side of town Many more like that to come and wait until you get to 17psi! I guess that means I will be seeing you Wed night.
  18. I was up until 2am watching "Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix Live At Isle Of Wight". If you have never seen this, look for it on Trio (cable channel) or try and find it on DVD. Brought a tear to my eye seeing how talented he was. You could see/hear the transition in his music towards more Blues.
  19. Mike, firstly, there is a big difference in the diameter of those 2 tires, 26.1 and 23.88, so understand how that impacts the final drive. The taller tire will give you a higher ratio but a V-8 or powerful turbo can overcome that and even benefit. The BFG DR is the only one that has those sizes. The Nitto is the better overall street tire but has limited sizes in 15", 205/45, 275/50 and 275/60!. If you go with the BFG, just be aware that they are not very good in the rain and wear quickly in everyday driving. As for price, compare the big mail order houses and check the classified of other forums for good used bargains, especially if this is just a "go to the track" tire.
  20. IMHO, putting on a swaybar is the opposite of what you want to do. In fact, you want just about full extension of the front suspension with quick rebound and slow compression on the front and the opposite on the rear. This allows maximum weight transfer and prevents the rear weight from unloading too quickly. I know this will probably start another flurry of "Zs squat too much" discussions but I am not going to question the success I am having. When I launch you can stand there and count the coils on my front springs Not a very good pic, but this is probably what you are trying to get rid of, correct?
  21. You guys get together and try to make it down to Montgomery on 9/13.
  22. Not sure if one already exists, but if there was enough interest I am sure Kennedy Engineered Products (KEP) could design it and stamp out a batch. http://www.kennedyeng.com/ You would then need a custom converter that would probably be made from the flywheel side of a Nissan unit and the remainder of a GM. Would not be "cheap", but if you are looking to go quick, how much would .5 with consistency cost and how much breakage would you be avoiding?
  23. That is black primer. As I replace body panels, I have them primered until time to paint the whole car. Dread putting the car in paint jail.
