  1. Well I wont be driving in the rain if I can help it. Washing the car will be the most water it sees. Yeah working at a dealership can have it's perks but dealing with dumbass customer with dumbass complaints sucks! LOL
  2. You don't mean you have a 10 Gauge wire coming off the post of the alternator do you?
  3. I am looking at making a bi-xenon projector headlight set up and I was wondering if there is a need for a cover for the projector lens. I am going to have headlight covers but I don't if thats going to be enough. The lens that I'm looking at appear to be sealed. If I do need a lens does anyone know where I can get a 7" clear lens from that isn't too tall? I really dont want them sticking way out under the headlight covers. Best part of this whole deal is I am getting the bulbs, ignitors, and wiring for freeeeeeeee! I work at a Nissan dealership and I just had to replace a pair of 350Z headlights and the new ones came with all of this stuff on them so the old stuff is all mine! Guy
  4. I've never had that problem either, just sprays a little fuel on your motor(not the best idea I guess). I was just curious by what you ment thats all. Guy
  5. What do you mean by purge the lines? The air will work it self out while cranking. I've never had an issue with air in the lines on any car. Vapor lock is a different story though. Guy
  6. Well if the GM's are anything like the Dodges with "superchips" and "piggyback fuel/timing controllers" its only a matter of time till your high pressure fuel pump takes a $$$$$HIT! The power is amazing with these chips but its really hard on the fuel pumps. Just a heads up. If it was me I wouldn't bother with the 4.8L, no resale value and its underpowered if you ask me. Go with atleast the 5.3 if not the 6.0L. The 6.0L is pretty hard on gas though from what I have heard. Its got to still be better than a 454 dually though! LOL As for the looks of the truck, I'm glad GM ditched that ugly front end on the last body style, too boxy IMHO. I really really like the new 07's though! Everyone that I've talked to likes them too, even the Dodge and Ford boys! Guy
  7. Here's a diagram of the 95 LT1 fuel pump circuit in a Camaro.... Pin 7 of the PCM is the low current power feed for the fuel pump relay(goes to pin 85 of the relay). So this will energize the fuel pump relay and switch it to on for your high current power feed to your fuel pump. Guy
  8. That's how I see the diagram. I know for sure the F and L terminal go to the samething inside the alternator. I just know that I haven't had an issue with my alternator and thats how I have it wired... Guy
  9. I read on here from one of our old members that if you dont wire your alternator up to the F terminal that you will have short lifespans with your alternators? I wish I could remember the link or members name.... Guy EDIT... Ok now that I've taken a closer look at the alternator wiring for a 1995 LT1(camaro), you can see in the diagram that if you use the F terminal you don't need to use a charge light or resistor because the alternator seems to have one internal. I think that's why I haven't had any issues with no charging light. I guess you can do it either way!
  10. Sorry those pics I posted changed from last night(links must have changed! LOL) I will save them to my computer and load them up on my site so they don't change! Guy
  11. Yeah I have contacted MSA and they can get them for $1000 for the pair but they have to get them from somewhere outside the US. I don't want to spend $1000 on a pair of weatherstripping right now when I need to spend that money on painting the car. I am going to call some junkyards this week/weekend to see if anyone has any 280ZX but I'm really not holding much faith it that option, not too many Z's around here! I wish I lived in CA right now, I know I could find some easy! I can't beleive one of you guys who have swapped a 280ZXT drivetrain into an S30 doesn't have one of these cars just collecting dust! LOL Guy
  12. Ok boys and girls, my car is going to be getting painted very soon and I really need to get these 2 pieces for my car! I need the body side weatherstripping on both sides for my t-tops. The ones that run up the A-pillars....around the openings....and back down the B-pillars. My car is an 1980 but I don't know for sure if all the T-top models have the same weatherstripping, I figure just as long as its not a 2+2 it should fit. PLEASE someone help me out on this one! Shoot me a pm or email with a price for them if they are in decent usable condtion. As long as they are not hard and brittle or torn I'm interested. I can deal with a little dry! I wont be driving in the rain so they don't have to be perfect. Thanks, Guy PS....Mods I tried a classifieds wanted ad but I really need to get the ball moving on this so I don't have to wait for them once the car is painted!
  13. I dont know for sure how to hook up the charging light because I dont have one in my car, I am just using a voltmeter instead. If you hook up a 12V+ Ignition to the "F" terminal your alternator will charge unless there is something wrong with it. From looking at this diagram I dont know for sre if you can hook it up like the Camaro without some way of making the circuit that is in the cluster of the Camaro. Just unhook the other wire for now so you can worry about the running issue. Low voltage at the PCM can cause weird driveablilty issues too. I am using Tunercat for editing and Datamaster for scanning codes. I like Tunercat so far(haven't really got to use it alot though yet because since switching over to a 95' ECM & harness I havent actually driven the car anywhere ). Are you using a Caprice harness on your engine or a Camaro harness. The IAC motors may be different from one car to another so the wiring may be different too. I know that when I bought my engine(93' out of a Camaro) and put the harness and PCM that I bought from Darius(yes the one and only Darius!) in my car the IAC was one thing that was not the same. I just had to wiring it correctly and it was ok. You shoud be able to do the same. I had idle issues like your describing and thats what it was. I know other guys that have had the same exact thing happen when swapping harnesses. Here's how I would tackle your problems.... #1. wire up the alternator F terminal to 12V Ignition #2. check that IAC wiring from the PCM is correct for the IAC that is on your engine(the IAC has 4 wires labled A-hi A-low, B-hi B-low) those need to be going to the correct pins on the IAC connector, if not it wont work correctly. #3. If those don't fix your problems then you need to hook up your SES light and read the codes out with it generic scan tool or use Datamaster and a laptop to get the codes out of your PCM. I think Datamaster is free if I remember correctly but I don't have the website for where to download it.
  14. Is there any modifications done to your motor? I had to modify my TPS sensor when I installed the 58mm throttle body on my engine because it would read too high at idle and throw a code. I ended up enlongating the mounting holes to turn it down into the proper voltage range(about .3V if I remember correctly). Do you have anything for editing the PCM software? If so have you done anything to the PCM? I don't know if the MAF sensors are the same from the Camaro to the Caprice? MAF sensors can cause real weird issues when dirty/going bad... Guy P.S. Did you get my email?
  15. I can't believe no one has sad that this is going to kill the 50/50 weight ratio of the car with the tranny that far back? If I am not mistaken with a standard LS1/T56 swap and a few small things like the battery being relocated, isn't the weight ratio pretty darn close to a perfect 50/50 front to rear ratio? I'm not one who gets all crazy with the weight ratios but isn't that ideal? Guy(Someone tell me if I'm all wrong on this one! LOL)
  16. Nope its not painted yet. I am doing the finally coat of primer this weekend and then blocksanding it one last time and then I have to give my painter a call so he can work me into his schedule. So hopefully within the next month or so I should have it painted!(man it sounds weird to say that! LOL). Guy
  17. If you want a carb'd engine then just buy a carb'd engine. There is no point to buy a fuel injected SBC if you want a carb'd on, it will just cost more than a carb'd one(stock) and you'll just end up stripping all the parts that you paid extra for off of it. There could be lots of difference between each engine depending on what it came out of as far as internal components are consirned. They will all bolt up with the JTR set up though. The trucks engines are usually cammed different than a car so that there is more low end torque so this wouldn't be ideal for a 2800lbs car(dont really need the low end torque to get this small of a car moving). If your going to keep the engine stock for a while then find a motor out of a camaro or similar type of car it will be better suited for a car that you want to go fast! On a GEN 1 SBC thats carb'd I can't imagine there is a ton of useful stuff from a donor vehicle, its not like an LS1/LT1 swap where having a donor vehicle with all the electronics would be useful. Guy
  18. Yes that will work. (As long as there isn't something wrong with your PCM). Guy
  19. Each injector ground is seperate so you can't just wire them together. You can't just ground it either because it will turn the injector on all the time. There is always power at the injectors with the key on, the ECM is what controls the grounding of each injector. Guy
  20. There's only 11 numbers because back then tnere wasn't a "uniform" VIN code like there is today. Now the government says all VIN's must be 17 letters/numbers long. They also have certain spots for things like what year the car is. If you want to decode your VIN you can get a factory service manual, a Chilton's manual or call up a Nissan dealership and they should be able to help you out. I'm not sure but the owners manual also might have a page that will decode the VIN. Guy
  21. It's going to cost you more than $5-600 to swap in a SBC.
  22. He could be talking about an old "LT1" and not a GEN 2 SBC. Nice paint! Guy

    Rotards!!!

Best post in that whole thread.... Guy
  24. Man if you would have used them as models while you were trying to sell the T-shirts/hoodies you probably would have sold more! LOL Guy
