  1. Tire compound plays a bigger factor than tire size when it comes to traction. You would be surprized at what guys are pulling with 235/50/15. Now with a 16 or 17 you wont get as much traction because the side walls wont flex as much at lower psi's like the 15's but with a good tire you can get pretty decent traction with 235-245 tire. What do you need traction for? Are you taking it to the dragstrip or just for regular hard street driving? If its for the dragstrip just buy 2 wheels fo the rears and run these on the street with a high perfomance street tire. thats what I'm going to do. I only have 225/45/17 for street tires(BFG KD's(not KDW's)which are a pretty good tire actually, tread wear is only 200 though...). Guy
  2. I sent an email last night to datsunrestore.com, I'm just waiting for a reply. I asked if they had them and if they would cosider throwing a package together at a discounted price. We'll see what happens! Yeah I know what happen Cody, samething as me...they came off in a dozen pieces of shredded rubber! LOL Guy
  3. I emailed Pierrezman, he said he does not sell 280ZX weatherstripping. I have not cotacted datsunrestore.com though. Guy
  4. Is that for an S30 or an S130? I have never seen a kit for a S130, it sure would be nice though! Guy
  5. Now that the body work is coming near completion its got me thinking about what I need to put the car back together after its painted! One thing deffinetly comes to mind...WEATHERSTRIPPING! I thought I had a vender lined up but apparently http://www.zedshop.com/index.htm is either not selling stuff anymore or just doesn't return emails? Either way I need weatherstripping for my car and I'm going to need it pretty soon! So does anyone know anyone else who sells weatherstripping for 280ZX's? I need the t-top bodyside seals the most. MSA has a few of the WS that I need but not all of them. Heck does anyone have a 280ZX parts car with T-Tops that wants to sell me the 2 body side weatherstrips? Guy
  6. *I have a T56 so no tranny lines. *I have a reciprocating gear box set up in my car, I am running the LT1 P/S pump, 280ZX lines with a fitting that I had made to connect the 280ZX high pressure line to the back of the LT1 pump. Basically its just half a datsun fitting and half a chevy fitting that have been welded together! *No A/C in my car. *I was running the stock fuel lines, but now I am running -6AN return and supply hard lines from my MSD fuel pump, up to a mallory cartrige style fuel filter, through a Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator, into my fuel rails that now have -6AN fittings welded into the back of them. Does anyone sell any of this......nope sorry. You have to pretty much piece it all together youself. Guy
  7. Nice to see you again Mat! If you do have another gathering I might be able to bring my car this time! Paint is just around the corner! Guy
  8. I just used the stock LT1 harness and modified it. If you can read a wiring diagram you can edit a factory harness. You just need to delete a few things and add some power and grounds to a few wires. If you buy a painless harness you still have to add the powers and grounds, they just label them for you. I think $500-600 for a harness is a shame but thats just me! Guy
  9. Yeah you need a fuel injection fuel pump. The LT1 likes about 45-50psi. Guy
  10. There are a few cicuits that you need to hook up. There should be a few supplied with 12V+ battery and some wiht 12V+ ignition. I don't know what you have as far as how your fuel pump is hooked up but I have mine hooked up from the PCM through a relay so it kicks on for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on. As for the ignition, if you supply the power to the right wires off the PCM it should supply voltage to the coil/coil module. Does the Caprice have a VATS system? If so did you disable it some how or bypass it? Guy Here's the wiring for a 1995 Camaro PCM/harness... http://www.datsun-280zx-lt1.com/LT1_WIRING_INFO.html
  11. No problem! I personally think the 280zx gets a bad rap for the trailing arm rear suspension but unless your a hardcore racer I don't think it affects the normal driver. I don't think my car handles like a pile of crap. I do have new struts, lowering springs, and bigger sway bars though, nothing crazy. I think the trailing arm suspension makes for god lauches when drag racing but that's just me. Guy
  12. A mildly built LT1/4l60e in a 280zx should get you into the 12's all day long. With some good tire high elevens should be doable. Guy
  13. I have an LT1 in my 80' 280ZX. First off how good are you at reading wiring diagrams? If you can do that then modifing a stock harness is really pretty easy. Just delete what you don't need and feed power and ground to the rest. The JTR book wont really give you any info on what to do step by step but it does give you the "theory" behind the V8 swap. I didn't use it for my swap(I do have a manual though...). Guy
  14. Basically the topic came up because I will be looking for a house in the next year. Then I said how her sister & husband were "stupid" for paying the asking price for their new house. Not because they payed it but because they didn't even try to offer a lower price. She thinks that because the house is new that you can't offer a lower price. I tried to say that houses are like cars, there is always room to work with the price. I will be looking for something either in town that needs some minor work and that I can resell in a year or two..........or something out of town that has room to build a shop. Eitherway IM SICK OF RENTING! Guy
  15. Personally I didn't really notice any performance from an exhaust on a NA motor when I had the L28. I did notice a huge difference with new struts, lowering coils, and bigger sway bars! It really made the car a lot more fun to drive. I woud do suspension and just get very reliable. Guy
  16. Ok guys I need you to settle a little discussion between me and the girlfriend... For those of you who have bought a house new or used(not built one to your specs), did you pay full asking price. If you did, what were the circumstances? If you did not, how much below asking price did you pay? Thanks, Guy
  17. No man its all yours! I don't really want that $10.5 Million....LOL Guy
  18. Give me a break! Why does someone actually come up with a believeable story! I mean come on $10,500,000! How about like $4,343.93? People who fall for these scams have it coming for being stupid enough to believe that someone you don't know is gong to split 10.5 million dollars with you just because they need to use your bank account to transfer the funds....blah blah blah! Guy
  19. That looks great man! How did you cut tha plate out? Guy
  20. I am just using the NGK TR55's. I am using Taylor 8mm custom wires with 90* boots and those high temp mesh looking boots over the ends that are close to the headers. The only problem that I've had is one of the wires resting on the header and melting. I haven't actually had a boot melt though. As long as they arent touching the header they shouldnt melt from the radiant heat off the headers. Guy
  21. The only think I didn't care for was Manning getting the MVP award. I think it should have gone to one of their running backs. I didn't think he played that great, alright but not one of his best games. As for the Bears, ya they just sucked!(Packer fan!) They don't have an offense. They should have just punted every time they got the ball so that their deffense could get some takeaways and returns for TD's! And Grossman should have been pulled a few games ago! Guy
  22. I don't want to take away from the original post but I know for a fact that the 3.5L will not take 700HP on the stock internals! I don't care how good of a tuner you are. The max on that bottom end is around 450HP and even then its a ticking time bomb! Nissan didn't build the 3.5L like the old RB26! My service writer has a 350Z that is pushing 400HP to the wheels and the original motor only lasted a week after the turbo upgrade(single). The lower end on his old motor went(#2 rod bearing went and #2 piston was pretty sloppy in the hole, and #2 piston oiler broke). He's now running forged rods and pistons @8.8:1 compression. Now he just has to get an EMS to take the stupid MAF sensor out of the loop so he can boost more than 8lbs with out making the ECM go crazy. I personally love the 2 door G35's because they are pretty much a 350Z but with way more bells and wistles! Good purchase and as long as you don't go mod crazy(turbo/SC) you won't have any big issues with it! Guy (Nissan Technican)
  23. Nice edit Doc! LOL I have had my 208ZX for since early of 00'. I drove it around with the L6/3 speed auto till late 02' and then started the LT1/T56 swap. I had it running by the summer of 03'. Drove it some on and off while working out the bugs. Drove it a little in 04' and then pulled it off the road in the winter of 04' for body work which I'm finally just finishing up! Should be back on the road come spring! Guy
