  1. why is this in this section??? snap on is meant for like hundreds of hours of use per month, but harbor freight will work fine imo i used harbor freight and they turned out real clean!!
  2. :o:o:o wow i did NOT see the car!! good work man i didnt mean to be a dick and be all cocky so....out of line keep it up then man! nice sand blaster!!!
  3. hahahahah i loved that post phlebmaster
  4. yeah should i retorque my headgasket? its a fresh rebuild but they're ARP and i wasnt sure whether to re-torque i mean no oil in my water so far ...yeah when i get a :oing day off work and the holidays then ill adjust my valve lash i checked it and it was .005 so hopefully i haven't burned them...my brother just got engaged so its intense an ♥♥♥♥ with the family
  5. Hey man just becareful! Dont try to start too many things at once!! its fun spending money and new parts are shiny an all but do one thing at a time!! I would just rebuild the engine first, the stock intakes and head work are not quite necessary for the L28 since its so small the stock work fine for up to like a 3.0 liter? Porting is not as important as just simply cleaned threads, a cam, new guides etc and some tight springs. Looks good man but i think about what ur spending $$ on an it should start simple you already spent $900 on stuff not even installed yet!! looks good so far man but slow down and i hope to God that you bagged your screws
  6. Im not sure whats going on with it, but its giving me all bark and no bite!! It will scream to 5K no problem and the turbo boosts it but its just sooooo sluggish!! I cant get one squeak of the tires to save my life! So here's some technicalities... no exhaust (but its turbo) AFM is not exactly tuned TPS and distributor are kinda okay... but i mean could one of those be the problem or is just because my 3.36 differential??
  7. ASE time!! Press fit pistons are offset towards right side...(from the front) which would be the major thrust side i dont know i really cant remember yesterdays test....yeah that makes the most sense either way just install them with the right notch in the right direction and your good
  8. hahhaha i would be so paranoid now that i found one i mean that cant be the ONLY one!! whatever happened hoke??
  9. hey flat i really like your air dam is that MSA type 1??
  10. I talked to a shop to get my cam tower aligned and after explaining how its a little snug the guy said that should be normal: his reasoning was because on a brand new, perfectly flat head it will spin nicely with two fingers, however this head has GOD KNOWS how many miles on it so it going to be warped, which makes sense since I had to have the head resurfaced (hence the removal of the cam towers). So I think after I torque down the head I will test it one more time for any binding spots then put the rest of the timing components on! Its not going to be fun getting the chain back on though >.< Do i need assembly lube? I just used standard 10/30 on all my bearings : /
  11. I posted my problem on zdriver and not to be redundant or a spammer I just wondered what any hybrid people had to say about the cam tower alignment. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=152326&highlight=cam+tower+line http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=139927&highlight=cam+tower+line etc and here's my issue, I aligned them as best as I could by tapping them with a rubber mallet but they're not "two finger" turnable. I tried for about an hour trying to aligne them as best as I could and this was my best result: what do you think? AM i going to be throwing metal around the top of my engine any time soon?
  12. by the way, all your questions can be answered using :search: okay? I didn't tell you anything you can't find on this website!!
  13. wow first of all get on your knees and thank God for such a killer deal. Your (dished) pistons are original, your '83 camshaft is stock (hence the "M" mark) as for timing components chains are soooo reliable with 102K miles you should be totally fine. However if you're paranoid then they're <100$ for a whole timing set. But just check for any play, excessive wear on the tensioner, and sprocket play. When you take off the camshaft sprocket and as you pull the timing wheel off you'll realize that with 102K you're just breaking in the timing wheel Can you take some pics of your cylinders? I just want to see if your hone is still intact.
  14. I dont have a condenser on my setup although i have a few lying around the garage
  15. all this talk this makes me want to go to a bar
  16. So what do you think about this set? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2753CC-280ZX-TURBO-L28ET-PISTON-RINGS-SET-6140_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQhashZitem3349b38de8QQitemZ220279836136QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_2443wt_933 The only things that worry me are: It says its cast aluminum 2753 cc (is the '83 L28et a 2793cc?) Rings are "quality cast steel" what ring combinations are best for a rebuild on a 150K block? Im going to hone/hot tank/shave the stuff but would chrome be a better option?
  17. my 91/30 leaves bruises after a few hundred rounds so +1 on the 54 > 39 comment Also, that looks photochopped a little on the handle. I'm taking mine to the San bernardino Forest this sunday to sight it in and get rid of these pie tins ^.^
  18. Does anybody have any experience or feedback with the company ITM Engine Components? I'm going to be doing ANOTHER rebuild and I see they have all my short block needs and since they're conveniently located a few miles from my house I would give them a shot! Of course, not before consulting the guru's because maybe someone had some bad experience or contrarily some good experience with them! Tell me what you know!
  19. yeah i bought my head last year from pierre'z second hand and i have the same problem. I just did a replacement gasket set and i already have oil in my water I guess i got a cracked block or head. yep..I mean i haven't even driven it yet and its already leaked major bad, i havent even gotten the tach and water temp completely wired for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake.......a million words cant explain this frustration
  20. okay only half the water i put in the radiator came out, and it came out brownish/yellow so F*** me goddamn it i got a bad hg or something but i haven't even driven it yet i just got it together. how long can i drive it in this condition? its gonna take me forever to change the HG again.
  21. Hey yeah I have that same issue, I have oil collecting regularly all along the side of my engine that spark side is on, but I can't figure it out! I will check my water when I drain it to see if oil is in it. However you're not the only one in the leaky boat!!
  22. Hey thanks man i was just gonna post something http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104715&highlight=l28et+tach+wiring this guy had the same question and no answer! So you've completed your L28et swap and you can't wire your coil to your tachometer in your S30? I have the same problem and I've tried different combinations. From what I gather I need some sort of under-dash resistor of some sort... P.S. Did you figure out how to wire the thermostat from the l28et to a S30 thermostat? That's my next mission and final mission is oil pressure unit before i'm takin my baby to the DMV and registering it!:mrgreen:
  23. same exact problem with me, except that I have it on 1,2 &3 cylinders Hahaha! However, right now I'm undergoing some homemade flow testing / cleaning my injectors
