  1. Glad you all had a good time , both cars looked real good!
  2. I think that is the oil level "low oil switch/indicator" I didn't use mine. I solved some issues myself last night but the upper knuckle fastener/bolt on the steering shaft still hits the #7 primary tube, may have to dimple it to even get close to clearing it.
  3. Well ran into a bit of an issue. The steering shaft hits the #5 tube and the coupler bolt hits the #7 tube, not rubbing against it but when I drop the motor it hits and will not allow the motor to go back into the original position. Probably raised 3/4" before clearing steering shaft. Any insight or idea's? Thanks Mike
  4. The collectors will need some minor messaging but other than that they will fit around the big pig 4L80E. Hope to have exhaust system in within a week....fingers crossed!
  5. What year 4L80E are you running, mine is an older model (1997) that has been rebuilt and a Transgo HD2 shift kit installed as well. My cooler lines are close together "top to bottom" not front and back like the newer model. I will stick check my lines as I have replaced them with brass fittings too. I too cut the ears off the bell housing and made a small dent and hole where the plug goes on the drivers side. Other than that I need to figure out the dip tube, which one did you use? I have a stock one laying around but am doubtful it will fit.
  6. I hated running slicks personally, running 255/60-15 Mickey Thompson drag radials. Drive it to the track and home with several 9.7X passes. The best tire for your buck! Your ride sounds great by the way!
  7. Well, the headers are in the car and will need the collectors messaged a little but for those of you running an auto they will work. I got them to work with a 4L80E, a big transmission to say the least. Just have to cut on the collector to get it over an inch at best and presto. Will post pictures when I get the time.
  8. To raise the lift if the cam he got is lacking in the lift department. Agree'd, steel rockers are a much better choice, less fatigue and breakage plus if you go with real a real big cam and stiff springs it's the only choice unless you like buying expensive LS motors!
  9. Crap, what kind of body work you having done. I have seen good work, meaning body and paint for 4K.
  10. Did you get the car with louvers cut in the front quarters are did you have someone do that, It really looks good.
  11. Wrecking yard? I may have one off a truck accessory laying around at the shop but it could be a few days before I'll be up there. Do not knowif they are the same size either.
  12. Question for the LS2 owners using the lower mount with LS1 alternator. How much clearance do you have in the back behind the alternator? The G8 L76 uses the Corvette short balancer but uses the lower GTO LS2 type alternator bracket/position. The problem is it pulls everything 3/4" of an inch back towards the front of the engine and I do not know if that will work with John's Car Mounts. Anyone have any pictures?
  13. Well found out I maybe screwed as the L76, LS2 with LS3 heads and intake doesn't supposably use the same accessories as a 2005-06 GTO LS2. What I have been told is the L76 out of the Pontiac G8 runs Corvette accessories. The difference is the Vette is 3/4" shorter on all accessories vs the LS2's meaning I will now have to figure out how to mount the alternator. I tried the high side with a new LS1 alternator and it hits the strut tower, low will probably be more of the same. Hate to have to buy all new accessories...damn!
  14. My friend had a similar issue with his LS1, he tried several fixes and it turned out his Mass air sensor was in need of cleaning.
  15. I am currently stuffing a built 4L80E with 9" 3600rpm Edge Racing converter into my 240Z, a tight fit but doable. Mike
  16. Did you make the roller lifter solid? The hyd. roller lifter will give false readings under load or you must use a checker kit. Sorry if you already know that, you should have .060 to .080 ptv clearance to be safe.
  17. Not a bad start, it will only get better! Just imagine how it will run when you get good weather and some practice.
  18. My shorties drove me nuts so I ditched them. They never held and I snapped bolts all the time, the heat just ate the bolts up.
  19. Seam welded, 6 point with door bars, welded in, no floor board placement, directly to kick panels. Also loctite blue or red bolts in most places. I have dozens of 9 and 10 second passes with zero twisting other than a front diff. mount that got turned into a pretzel...lol
  20. I welded in a cage and it stiffened it up measurably! My car has been a V8 swap since 1980 and has hundreds of time slips with no bending or twisting....yet
  21. I am completely rewiring my 240 with a painintheass/painless wiring system. I sometimes wonder why and the heck do I get myself into these jobs!
  22. I set my break away at 100 lbs and have very little chatter. I did the group purchase several years ago for clutches.
