  1. Mmm good to know, thanks for the quotes. I was indeed wondering about the throw length, and if it had enough travel down close to the tranny like the console is. We'll see what Cold Fusion has to say after he mocks it up. Maybe we can have like, a little groove or indentation instead of a full deep gate. It might end up looking like the little slots for a triptronic tranny, but that would do fine personally. Anything along those lines would look better than a boot IMO.
  2. I'm pretty sure the bolts are the same for all the Nissan trannys (could be blowing smoke though). I've got the B style 4spd. I've got the length pegged I think. I measured 1.25in into the block, so add another .5in or so for the tranny lip. What I need are the metric sizes, diameter if you will. I'm also pretty sure the bolt grade is 7 (had 7 stamped into one of the motor mount bolts). Thanks for the help. This is probably pretty pitiful of a request but I'm not having much luck finding what I need.
  3. That's what I was hoping for, a direct bolt in. Man if these take off you might have MSA hitting you up for selling rights If you need me to get measurements for a 4spd I'd be happy too. Just tell me what to do.
  4. 4spd versions would also be fantastic, as that's probably what I'll have for awhile. If you do make a run on these, don't forget that there are a couple style of shifter levers, that might need slightly different patterns. I hope you do get a run of these going, I'd loooove one.
  5. I wondered about that. Yeah I've seen that McMaster link before. I'll poke around there some. I was just hoping to be able to pick this stuff up locally. I suppose I do have two weeks to place an order and have it shipped though. Yeah I tried searching along these lines but the results weren't terribly helpful, like I said. I need to work on using the google search feature more. It yielded a little more help.
  6. That might not be bad as a last resort, but that's a little pricey for some bolts. I'd prefer to hit up a local hardware store to save on cash. I'm doing a budget build here. Thanks for the link though, I might hit that up if I run out of options. Is there not a list of all the bolt sizes for each individual application somewhere?
  7. bumpadoodle It'll be in tomorrow... need the info
  8. Well it's getting to the point where I need to bolt my transmission to the engine, and all of that into the car. Only problem is that I lack the hardware to do so. I've asked around some if anyone has spares, but they seem to be a precious commodity. I've checked the service manual to no avail, and searching here proved pointless. You can imagine bolt, size, engine, tranny, etc didn't narrow it down much on here. If no one has any to spare, can I at least get some sizes and specs that I can take to a hardware store to get what i need. Like I said: engine to transmission, motor mounts, tranny mounts... any nuts and bolts needed to insert the engine and tranny into the car. While searching I saw a couple of old threads asking similar questions go unanswered, hopefully mine won't have the same fate. I don't have the luxury of having a hardware store within 30min of my shop to go buy some bolts, test fit, then go back and buy the size that fits. I need a one time purchase run. TIA -Chris
  9. That's just disturbing.
  10. That's why you need to plan in some scenic stops, or points of interest, to keep yourself sane on long trips. Don't forget to do that... like a stop in Arkansas... eh eh? lol j/k
  11. Weren't you having tranny problems at one point? Hopefully that's all been resolved before planning something like this. Otherwise sounds like it'd be fun!
  12. Looks effective. I may have to try the same thing on my carbs! And I now know I'll need to find a fuel regulator...
  13. I'm in the process of gathering everything I need to get my Z on the road. The question here is whether autozone was just blowing smoke, or knew what they were talking about... I told them that the carburetor I have is the round top E88, and is probably off of an early 240z. They said the rebuild kits stayed the same pretty much throughout the 70's, and ordered two "GP-Sorensen 96-293" ($18 each) kits for me. They should be here Wednesday. The receipt says: Carburetor #16010-N3603, 16010-N3633, 16010-N3634, 16010-N3635, 16010-N3653, 16010-N3654, 16010-N3655, 16010-N3663 I searched around and didn't see anybody talking about autozone rebuild kits, so I thought I'd start a thread. It'd be awesome if I could get some confirmation if this kit will work for me or not.
  14. I'm going to reference the attached pics by number - ie: (1) Alright well the main goal of this weekend was to pick up the cache of parts, and get them organized into the shop (1). Now for the car's progress: I got the clutch re-installed (2). Throwout bearing and arm installed (3), hopefully correct for my pressure plate Got the fenders off (4) Found some trauma under the fenders (5-6). Both sides are a little crunchy and welded like that. Hopefully it's not too big of a deal for my power goals. So the list for the next few weekends: Fix battery area rust hole (7) Rebuild the carbs Source all the bolts I need to get everything put together and installed Mount the motor Start plumbing lines and attaching wiring
  15. It probably wouldn't be tough: Some have a PCI slot blank with a switch on it, which would be really easy to tap into for the dome light input. Mine is more like a plastic box with a flat slider. You'd have to break into it and solder onto the leads probably. Still not too bad, but a little more involved.
  16. They got control boxes with switches, yeah. Mine actually has a sound sensitive attachment. Works nice with my 12" sub
  17. I did the front and back seats of my Regal with red cold cathodes to fancy it up. I love the look, and plan to do it to any car I get. The 260z is next! Look at the far right of my sig pic for an example.
  18. Tape razor blades to them.... But seriously it is a problem. My friend had his ripped off recently. No info left, nothing. Cost him like $300 or something. I hate parking lots. Especially student ones.
  19. Made a trip to autozone to price some stuff and pick up a few items I'll need this weekend. As shown in the pic, I followed this site's suggestion on the shifter bushings. I grabbed part #38374 because they didn't have #38377 in stock. Twas $5 I also picked up the clutch pilot tool I found out I'd need when I took the pressure plate and the clutch dropped out of place. (give me a break, I've been used to autos, I'm new to this stuff). Twas $3 Assuming I don't have what I need in that cache of parts we're picking up this Friday, The slave cylinder would be $18, dizzy cap and rotor $14, ignition coil $26, and clutch fork $31. We couldn't find a throwout bearing in the system. Hopefully I'll have most of that in the parts cache.
  20. FG Dash replacement? Might be a little tough though.
  21. Both I and dsommer both drove out to tulsa (him intending to purchase the yellow shell). It basically came down to him not representing the car's condition very accurately. The rear roll pan was all torn up, one fender had a considerable hole through it, there was a poor patch in one of the fenderwell/firewall areas, one of the doglegs was toast, etc etc. On top of that, he was trying to play the "California car, early year model, collector car" card to jack up the price way more than a bare shell in its condition was worth. Something else about a non-refunded deposit too IIRC. I don't want to go into too much detail, since it seems the old thread detailing the problems was deleted or something. I can't find it for the life of me.
  22. This unbeknownst to me at the time ended up being the infamous "Larry Temple". Good thing I didn't end up going this route. I can't find the thread dsommer wrote about him, must have gotten deleted or something, but I'm sure some of you remember that whole spiel. Oh well... CASE CLOSED! Refer Here: What I ended up Getting
  23. The other option came through... CASE CLOSED! Refer Here: What I ended up Getting

  25. Hey if you were doing this for the L6 I'd be all for it man, 50/50 Can't wait to see how this turns out once you get started!
