  1. Heh, I think i'll work on getting it cleaned up for now, sorry guys, lol. Though you do need it SB, that's a wee little turbo you've got on that miata
  2. I built one using this method. I never did get my sprinkler valve to work electrically though. I had to go back and get one of the diaphragm type I could modify to work off a lever. I'll take a pic of it if I ever get back out to the ranch.
  3. Yeah I consider this my "maybe a project car in college isn't such a good idea" insurance. Can't back out now, I've already got a turbo I have to do something with!
  4. Eh I'm going for a budget build, so I probably won't be having any/much shop work done if possible. If it ends up needing a rebuild I'll do it myself. Thanks for the brake cleaner tip, I'll give that a shot if needed. I'll post some better pics when I get it, for further analysis Still open to comments until then!
  5. I noticed a little of that. Think I can clean up the blades some? I don't know much about turbo internals or how fragile they are to be honest.
  6. Well, even though I don't have a Z yet, I've been eyeballing turbos, and just grabbed one at (I think) a good price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230211455567&fromMakeTrack=true $250 after shipping. Based on the description of a little side to side play and 70k miles I don't think that's too bad. I can always get a rebuild kit for $70 and still be doing better than the $400 i usually see them go for. What do yall think?
  7. Ach I always wanted an E46. Parts are just so darn expensive if it breaks though, couldn't do it.
  8. I don't know how backwards compatible you're trying to be, but here is a PNG with a transparent background. Wouldn't let me attach it, too big: Good enough, temporarily at least? I'm no professional, lol. EDIT: wow just noticed this is like 5 months old. I'm sure you had transparent by now.
  9. Aww man. I wish I was closer. I NEED the Orange one!
  10. Dunno if XP = TP on the keyboard somehow, but if the question is directed to me , it's a tight fit. The legs are snug but ok (with a racing harness, otherwise my legs would get chopped off by the dash in a crash), but I hope I don't have to install a roof scoop. Not my favorite rally accessory.
  11. Hey for some of us interior room is a SERIOUS concern! I'm 6'9" and have to worry about such things every day. I think it's fair game for comparison I like the styling of the 350z's, but as stated the are slightly underpowered from the factory for a modern Z. As stated the suspension is nice right out of the shoot though.
  12. "baller" = Awesome A slightly underdeveloped post, but gets the point across I suppose. I've been searching and researching (and did find the previously listed threads) about the AZC suspension as a possibility as well. I'll be interested to see some additional opinions if they do surface here.
  13. Ahh video links. Gotcha. Yeah that would be pretty handy.
  14. Heh, I love how BigPhil is his own category, lol. I agree, a video section would be nice. It would place an exponentially larger amount of strain on the hosting servers though. It might cause problems, or spur the need for further funding, which might not be in the cards. Possible categories adjustment: > Your Ride - Intro and new member vids, work updates, etc. The showoff area. > Racing - dragging, track days, autox, street > Tech - tech writeups, how-to's > Other - Non Z, non Car related
  15. I've been playing this game recently, and hope to join you guys. I still need to go buy the game as soon as the local Best Buy has it, and I'm waiting for a G25 wheel to go cheap on ebay. For now it's the ol' xbox controller method, which isn't great, ha.
  16. Awesome! What kind of exhaust are you running? Sounds great!
  17. Cool vid. You should try scotch or masking taping it to the bumper. That'd be a cool shot! Maybe even like tape it to the radiator, get some nice engine noise.
  18. I dunno, I guess he was just making sure the motor turns over. Probably still had the plugs in at that point or something. Might test the tranny somehow? Who knows, I didn't' ask.
  19. Stereotype much? Don't know how upscale you want, but I've heard Zio's is pretty good Italian, similar to Olive Garden.
  20. Floor pans and rails are definitely up there on the areas to check, thanks. I talked to him about more stuff today when we were chatting about the title. Apparently he's only owned it since the summer. He said he found it somewhere back in the mountains (remote roads I presume). So at least that means it hasn't been sitting there like in the pics for long. He couldn't tell me much more about the condition of the engine, other than that he made sure it wasn't seized both with the plugs out and a ratchet on the crank, and by rocking it in 4th gear. His plan was to restore the stock engine, so he must've had faith in it. He also said now that we have a couple weeks that he might be able to do a compression test for me.
  21. Very nice! I love the cuts to the outside, very theatrical! Phil, loved the motorcycle exhaust turning into a beat.
  22. Alright well I've slept, canceled everything, talked to the guy, and I'm not AS pissed, lol. He apologized profusely and said he'd let me know as soon as he found it, or file for a lost title. Hopefully we can work it out to go look at/grab it two weekends from now. So I suppose let the discussion continue.
  23. Doesn't quite live up to the originals.
